It was a nice morning, temps in the upper 50's and a light breeze.  I ran Reservation road out to Rio Vista and looped back on Tyhee road.  I saw more farm dogs than cars on the entire run.  I got to play "dodge the combine" twice on Tyhee road between Philbin and Hawthorne.  Total 10.63 miles.

It was 69 degrees and a bit muggy this morning.  I ran out reservation road to the end where it turns in to Swanson and heads South.  Came back in on Tyhee then headed South on Rio Vista to Chubbuck and back on Hawthorne.  Total 17.89 sticky miles.

Race: Pocatello Marathon (26.2 Miles) 04:01:27

This was my 14th time in a row running the Pocatello Marathon.  I am on the race committee now so I get to be part of all the behind the scenes work in the months leading up to the race.  I spent most of Friday helping out doing what I could at the finish line and the packet pick up.

I drove myself to the starting line and arrived at 4:30am since I was helping out at the start before I ran.  I helped guide runners from the buses and just generally made sure everything was going smooth.  Mike has been directing this race for years and he has this thing down to a science.

I started off towards the back of the pack because this was not a goal race for me, just a training run for fun.  I also had some responsibilities at the finish so I took it easy.  After about 2 miles of chatting I decided to turn on my music as I was somewhat by myself.  Around mile 3 Holly Bowman from Inkom showed up next to me and we decided to run together for a bit.  As it turned out we ran the entire rest of the way together and I never turned on my music again.  I listened to a total of 2 songs the entire day.  We had a great time and I was glad to be able to help her along through a couple of tough patches.

At the fininsh I quickly showered and got ready for the awards.  I was the sponsor of the new Idaho Triple Crown which was a series of 3 marathons.  This being the first year I only got to put a medal on about 40 runners, but I am hoping this grows in the years to come.
