Nice 3 mile TM run at the Aquatic Center before work. Intervals: 5.5@flat-----6.5@1% I bought a book on Saturday called "The Spectrum" by Dean Ornish. It has given me a lot of motivation to adopt an eating style that is mostly fruit and vegetables with a little bit of meat. And the most important thing I have taken away from this book is that at least for the first three days or so, abruptly switching to this way of eating is probably going to make me feel miserable. But if I stick with it, within 6 weeks I will be hooked and will have a hard time ever going back to McDonalds and cookies and cake and ice cream etc. This rings so true to me!!!! All I have to do is take out the word eating and insert the word running and that is exactly the way I became a runner. It all started with reading a book on running. Ican't remember what it was called, but it was by Jeff Galloway. It took about 6 weeks of sticking to it (and many more books and magazines) and now I'm so hooked I could never go back to a non- running lifestyle. I have become more and more aware lately that the speedy runners around here are very lean. I am not lean. But I will be and as I combine leanness with consistent training I am going to get FAST! And that's pretty exciting.
