AM-Woke up with a bit of a sore back. Nothing major but I want to be really careful with it. Have been doing a couple of minutes of yoga stretches in the back bathroom in between every patient. Hopefully it will feel good enough for me to get in a workout later today.

PM- 25 min walking hill repeats on TM at the gym + 5 min on elliptical

Glad I have my gym membership on days like today. We have forest fires burning on the outskirts of town and the whole town is filled with a light smoke almost like a fog.

Great to see you back. Hope all is well. Must be a doctor? I could call my clients patients, but I never do.

From Mack on Thu, Aug 20, 2015 at 15:02:21 from 198.0.33.89

Thanks Flat. It's good to be back. I'm a dentist and it is sometimes a little hard on the back. But the Yoga works wonders on it.

From Rhett on Thu, Aug 20, 2015 at 15:07:12 from 24.121.249.174

I have a lot of dentist friends and back issues seem to be a big problem with most of them. They all get weekly massages to help. I hope the fires stay away.

At the gym during my lunch break. 20 min of 3:2 intervals on stationary bike. Also lifted weights: Bench, Tricep Pushdown, lat pull downs, straight bar curls, dips and leg press machine.

Had the gym all to myself except for a 17 or 18 year old girl who was lifting weights. She had a one gallon jug (the kind you buy milk in at the grocery store). It that had some kind of liquid in it that was the color of diluted apple juice and was about half full. She took a swig every so often as she was working out. Made me curious as to what new fangled performance enhancer type of thing it might be but I didn't dare ask her as I didn't want her to think I was some kind of creeper.

Good call not engaging in conversation with the teenage girl.

My question to you is: Are you ready for some college football?

From Mack on Sat, Aug 22, 2015 at 14:35:21 from 198.0.33.89

Yep, I'm ready. And I'm sorry to tell you this but I think it is going to be a long hard season for BYU.

Hiked to the top of B Creek Mountain this morning at about 9am. Mostly walked but mixed in a few brief runs on the flat areas. Still pretty smoky from the forest fires outside of town. Saw a bunch of search and rescue people from the sherriff's office. They said they were working on a cold case of a lost hiker from a couple of years ago. I didn't say it, but I was thinking maybe their time could be better spent working on the forest fires.

AM-Hiked to the top of BCreek with a few short runs on the flat areas. Near the top a small little dog named Hunter came out and tried to threaten me. I had my full canister of bear spray on my hip so I wasn't very intimidated. I know his name is Hunter because some woman came out of the house and called him off.

PM- 20 min combo of Cross Ramp and Elliptical followed by weights (upper). Late friday night at the gym had the whole place pretty much to myself.

Although you didn't exercise, I highly doubt you had a restful day. :)

You speak as one who knows from previous experience. I think a Bishop works harder on Sunday than a SP. Maybe it's close but I give it to the Bishop.

Mack, it's Football Eve! I sure hope you are wrong about my Cougs, but with the tough schedule it could be a rough year.

From Mack on Wed, Sep 02, 2015 at 13:18:22 from 70.210.135.86

Im hoping for good things for BYU too. But my favorite team is the huskers. New coach this year. Should be interesting.

From Rhett on Wed, Sep 02, 2015 at 14:57:30 from 24.121.249.174

Oh that's good to know. I'll be sure and heckle you a bit between now and Saturday. :)

From Mack on Wed, Sep 02, 2015 at 21:28:12 from 198.0.33.89

Well I kind of have two dogs in the same fight. I went to BYU for undergrad and Nebraska for Dental School. But for some reason my loyalty has to Nebraska has always been a bit stronger. It will be a real interesting game. Impossible to predict, I think.

Mack, if the Cougs keep winning in such dramatic fashion, you may have to make them your #1 team over Nebraska. :)

I would be really surprised if we pull off a victory at UCLA this week though.

From Mack on Mon, Sep 14, 2015 at 12:27:11 from 198.0.33.89

I hear ya. BYU has really been impressive. But did you see what huskers did to South Alabama? Go Big Red.

UCLA will be a stiff test...but i said the same thing about Nebraska and Boise State. This may end up being a magical year for BYU. So much for my gloomy preseason prediction.

From Rhett on Mon, Sep 21, 2015 at 15:57:22 from 24.121.249.174

Mack, your Huskers made a great comeback on Saturday and then just couldn't close the deal. I was cheering for them, so BYUs strength of schedule would be improved. They let me down. Then so did my Cougs, but I wasn't expecting them to win.

From Mack on Tue, Sep 22, 2015 at 01:40:24 from 198.0.33.89

I didn't get to see the Husker game. I watched the fourth quarter of the BYU UCLA game while riding an exercise bike at Anytime Fitness. What a great game! It was heart breaking to watch UCLA take the ball 80 yards on their final drive and every single play was a running play and BYU couldn't stop them from scoring the go ahead touchdown. But even so, what an awesome showing by the Cougars. Even in defeat they proved that they are for real this season.
