7.5 outside recovery run. Felt slower than slow and I let that bother me to much. I always hurt after speed workouts (like yesterday & Saturday) and now I am remembering back to Summer 2011 when every time I tried to do more speed my low back would teeter. So I think I am going to go back to just trying to run a good effort everyday and forget the crazy speed workouts. It's not serving my body well at this point. I am going to work on getting my cadence to a good clicking effort each day and keep it at 7-8 miles. When UVM is close, I will add in 2 long run days a week. I should be good to go. Better than getting injured.

Wearing 5 lbs of extra clothes is bugging me. I want it warm now! I feel so bogged down outside. UGH!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, around 5 miles, a dude that lives in my neighborhood came trotting up next to me and said something. Scared the hello out of me. I had headphones on so I screeched out loud. Keep in mind this was 6:15 in the morning. Holy motha!  Kyle runs, has run some long distance races, done some tri's, an ironman and I believe a 50 mile. He works with Davey Crockett. He took great delight in saying "YES! I get to tell everyone that I caught up to Lily". Recovery runs suck!

LOL. That would scare me, too. You need a rear view mirror.

I like your plan!!!

I like the plan Lily. Build a good solid aerobic base and then add speed workout 6-8 weeks out from UVM. If UVM is the goal you have plenty of time. :)

Such a nice job on your workouts lately (well, always, really). My lower back also hurts when I do speed, which is why I don't do much of it at all. I always thought it was because I do absolutely nil in the core department, but you do strength exercises and have similar problems. All the stress we put on ourselves, I wouldn't trade it. When you figure out the cure, let me know. :-)

yeah, the extra clothing gets old. i'm also getting really sick of the way my running jackets and gloves smell. obviously i am not going to wash them everyday, so they smell like an enclosed hallway full of temperature-abused sausage. want to run with me?

i like the plan, lily. onward.

Yeah I hate getting startled like that, I always scream too. The worst is when it happens when I'm on a treadmill and almost go flying off. I wish it would get warm too, please please let it get warm already.
