Well, today was my first day back for ...well an embarrassing amount of time. Since I decided today that I'm doing a marathon in June, I was excited to go to the gym and start my training. And things went well, I forgot my water bottle- which made me ticked. But it was okay. It took me about 29 Minutes to run the first 3. The first 1 1/2 mile I did at an 8.30 pace and a 9:30 pace on the last 1 1/2. Then I walked for another mile for a total of four .

| I slept in big time today- which isn't a big surprise if you know me. ha ha I just love sleep. Anyway, I only had 15 minutes at the gym but i figure 15 min is better than 0 min. I did the eliptical because my legs are hating me today. So sore. But it's a good sore. Can't wait for that marathon in June! |

| This run felt pretty good. I kept my pace constant at 8:40 for the first 3.1 and then I slowed down for the last half mile. Considering I just picked up running on monday, I'm feeling really good about my progress. |

| This one was rough. I ran in the afternoon because I've been loving sleeping in still. Anyway, I had eaten vegatables and dip about and hour and half before. i didn't think it would really affect me because hey, it's veggies... they're so good for you. Well they were like a bomb in my stomach the whole time. I had to keep stepping off the treadmill like every half mile so that my stomach wouldn't explode. That's why I just love running in the morning when my stomach is pretty much empty. Lesson learned. I died. |

| Today's run felt really good. I ran 4 in 33 minutes and lifted for 5 seconds after because I had to hurry home and shower. This is honestly the first time since I started back up that I have not wanted to kill myself during the run. I went to the gym before work, which I know is part of it. I always feel better during the workouts when they are first thing in the morning. I also had a really yummy dinner last night full of pasta and chocolate milk. So many carbs but I don't care. It was so good and husb cooked. So i think all that food helped with the energy. Today helped me remember that I actually like to run:) |

| Last night I stubbed my pinky toe. It was bad. Anyway I was sure my toenail was going to fall off while I was running. ha ha but alas, toenails still intact! It was a good run. I'm just bothered because I feel like the running should be getting easier by now and it's not! Maybe it never gets easier... jk. I know I'm doing better everyday. Some days just take more will power than others. |

| Today felt pretty good. I'm thinking next week I'll have to run outside. The treadmill just gets a little tedious after 7 miles. I did 6 in 51 and then slowed down doing 7 in an hour. I was feeling really glad about my run, came home and made a protein drink from powder. About an hour later I was feeling yucky and up came the protein shake a long with a little bit of chocolate milk I drank. It was disgusting. I don't know why it made me sick. I think maybe because it was the only thing I had eaten all day and it was like 1. So I cant ever drink that stupid powder again, I'll have to find a better way to fill up on all my protein. |

| This run started out super frustrating. Miles 2-5 I had this wierdest pain on the side of my stomach. It felt different than a side ache, more like a muscle cramp or something. Anyway I was dang bugged because I could have ran the whole thing and felt good, but instead I had to step off the treadmill for a few seconds every half mile or so and try to get my stomach to stop being a freak:) All in all though it felt good to do 8. That's the longest I think I have ever ran! It took me an hour and 9 minutes. |

| Today I warmed up on elliptical for 10 min and then did stomach and legs for a half hour. I decided I need to be better about balancing my workouts. I'm training for the marathon, so my workouts are so running centered but I know I need to get strength training in there. Even though I love cardio so much more than strength training :( |

I did nine in 77 minutes. Holy wow! It was hard and I wanted to die a little bit:) But I'm so glad I did it. This morning I was about ready to give up my marathon training, but I didn't and this felt good except that my feet wanted to fall off after. This is the farthest I have ever run.

| As much as I complain about it, I really do like to run and this felt pretty good. I went to the gym last night after work and piano lessons:) So it was later, which wasn't so bad because the gym wasn't so packed and it was primetime so I could watch Biggest loser while I ran. Anyway I did 3.1 in 25:30 and then 4 in 33 I think? I always concentrate on the 5k and then by the time I got to four I was so dead and ready to finish that I don't remember. I had wierd stomach aches again for the first two miles. Can't quite figure out why, but it went away so I guess it's fine. Like i say everyday, I just need to go in the morning! |

My training schedule for that doesn'treally begin until 1st week of june. But I'm getting started now so when I start training schedule I'm not so sore! |

BTW, I got in a fight with Gold's Gym last week. Oh they make me so so so mad! My credit card got stolen last month and I got a new one. and so the card they had on file didn't process my monthly payment. Rather than calling me and saying hey, your card didn't work is there another one we can try? They give me a fat late fee that's as much as my payment. Anyway I called to see if they could waive the late fee and the girl hung up on me. Long story short, I need to boycott Gold's. Not the first problem i've had with their horrible customer service.
On another side note- Merri & Burt, I tried to comment and defend my good name, but it won't let me comment back. Wierd... It's like no one wants me to admit that I don't shave my arms. |

This run felt so good! I rode my bike 5 min to the track and then locked it up but was still paranoid the whole time that one of the friends on the track would steal it. I'm a freak, it's fine.
ANYWAY, I was only going to run 2 but felt so good I ran 3, I could have done more but I wanted to have time to ride my bike a little longer before I went home. So I'm starting to like running outside more. It was such a perfect morning, overcast and perfect temp. Nice thing about the track is that I'm the only one under the age of 65, so I seem to be faster than them. No legs needing broken over here.

uh-oh, here is what I have discovered. If I run from my house around town, rather than going to the gym I can sleep in even more because I don't have to take the time to drive to the gym and drive back so I can get ready for work. Life is so good.
But I think I do need to find a balance and get to the gym so I can do weights. I can tell my legs really need to lift. But I can't even explain how thrilled I am that I am actually enjoying running outside. This has never happened before.
My left leg is totally bugging during and right after the run. It's my ITB which I've always had problems with and then also my ankle has been being a brat. bleh.
On a side note, who wants to know how I keep track of how long I've been running? I have my ipod and then at the end of the run I add up all the lengths of the songs to see how long it took me. ha ha I need a garmin, or atleast a stop watch. Hey, I'm new to these running shenanigans.

Cross Training today, I rode husbands bike to the gym (because I need to find someone that wants to buy me my own bike), lifted on legs and did abs, then rode home. I love riding the bike and even though it burns my legs and feels like a good workout it doesn't give me the satisfaction that a good hard run does. But I do enjoy the day off from running- it's a nice break.
I got ready and then rode the bike 3.5 miles to work. Hopefully it doesn't start raining when I need to ride home at 5 or this could be disasterous.
Total miles so far today: 8
After I ride home tonight my total will be 11.5- I wish it was as easy to run 11.5 as it is to bike it.

Day 1 Making the Cut
Nice Nice Nice, Today was nice. After all the hills on Saturday, I was glad to run on flat ground today. Ran from my house to the track, around the track 4 times and then back home. It was brisk out there today, I loved it. I don't know how I ever enjoyed running in the stuffy, hot, sweaty gym. sick.
Am I feeling shredded? oh yeah. Actually anytime I start a diet it seems like I focus more on what I'm eating so then I think about food more, and then I eat more. Even if it's good for you food I still eat more. Freak. |

A few things I learned today while running Provo Canyon with Merri and Wes:
I need a garmin, I didn't realize how slow I was going. On Merri's garmin 9 min miles felt like my pace, maybe a little faster. I really want to get down to mid 8's. I can do it on the treadmill easy breezy.
Merri, you are such a good runner! Well i already knew that but it's fun to watch you in action speedster.
The wind is such a beast when it's blowing right in your face before you get up into the canyon.
I ran the first 2 miles with Merri and Wes in 18 and then slowed down and ran by myself. We ran up 3.5 and back down 3.5. The way back down was basically me concentrating to put one front in front of the other. I don't know why it was so hard for me today. I didn't sleep great last night so that's what I'll blame it on. But I just woke up from a nap, so I'm feeling good.

Ran to track and around 4 times and then back home to get 4. My leggings are sore sore today. And my left ankle was hurting during the run. I'm not sure why. Anyone have any ideas why my ankle would bug? I didn't turn it or roll it that I'm aware of.
All of the little Mtn. View cheerleaders were running around the track, loved passing all the 15 year olds. ha ha glad I can even pass someone.

I did 3.1 in a little under 26 minutes and then everthing slowed way down after that. Made it to 4.5 in 39 minutes. It's actually faster than I felt like I was running so that's good. I knew I was going slow and it felt like 10 min miles toward the end. Last year i bought the little nike attachment for your ipod. It tells you your pace, distance and how long you've been running. The only problem is it's not very accurate. Today it said I was running 6 min miles, ha ha I wish that with my whole heart but it's not true. So I haven't used it in a long time but today I realized that it can atleast work as a timer. Hopefullyl it's even accurate in how long it says I've been running.
But good news, I think I'm getting a garmin for my b-day which is in August. But it will have to be an early bday pres, because I want it NOW!

Say hello to my new best friend: GARMIN! It came and happy early birthday to me, thank you husband.
But I can't quite figure out how everything works. I don't know how to show my splits. I may need everyone's help on that.
Anyway I started at Will's and ran up the canyon same as last saturday but I went a little farther up so that I could get 8. I stopped for a drink at the fountain up the canyon and forgot to push start again on the watch. Luckily I noticed .35 miles later so even though my garmin says I only ran 7.67 I really ran 8.
7.67 in 1:12 So I'm thinking 8 in 1:15 or so. Not as fast as I want to be but still feeling good. I wish I could have it show my splits because I know my first few miles were around 8:30 and that's where I want to be. Stopped at Golds on my way home and lifted on legs and abs. I felt much better today than last weekend, sorry you had to see me like that merri :) And next saturday I better be feeling good since I'll be running the freedom festival 10k.

I love love love my garmey. It's been so good to me. I figured out how to make it show the splits, but it's on my computer at home so I'll post it later. What I do know is that my average pace was 9:06. Which is not where I want to be (I wanna be under 8:30) but it's faster than my average pace on Saturday so that is good. I think now that I am aware of how fast I'm going, I'll be able to get faster as I keep training.
Here's the other thing. I started out really strong, first mile was under 8:00 and then gradually every mile got slower and slower. I need to stop that! I want to be more consistent, actually I just wanna stay under 8 the whole time. I'll get there.
I went to bed way late last night and didn't think I would be able to get up but as always I'm so happy that I did and that I ran as much as I did. It actually felt pretty good too, I was worried I would be lagging. It was really windy the first 3 miles but it died down so that was nice.
Went to 7 peaks on Saturday and fried. It's just how I do.

I do know my first 2 miles were faster though than the last 2. I tried to concentrate on keeping them consistent around 8:30 so it will be interesting to see the splits when I get home from work tonight.
My legs were super stiff today and by the time they were warm I was at the gym. So I lifted and did my things and then when I ran home the blasted legs were stiff again.
I'm doing the freedom festival 10k on saturday and I'm thinking maybe I should be tapering down a little this week but then again I don't know because really I'm training for Hobble Creek and this 10k is just to help me train. To taper or not to taper???

Around 1.5 I started getting this super sharp pain in the lower right part of my stomach. I tried to keep running but it was unbearable. So I stopped and walked until I could breathe again and then started up again only for the pain to come back every half mile or so. What a brat, that pain is.
I wanted to do 5 but ran out of time with all the stopping and starting and blah blah. This better not happen to me on Saturday! Tomorrow I think I'll stretch and do a little strength training at the gym.

It's over and I've never been so glad! And I beat both goals! I beat my last year time by over 5 minutes and also made it under 55! My garmin said 54:30 and the race clock said 55 exactly, I sprinted so hard that last little bit to make sure the big clock would be under 55 as well. 8:49 average pace
I'm really happy about this race, I think it's a pretty hard 10k comparatively.
When I got home I cooled down with 2.3 miles around my neighborhood at about a 10 min pace. Gave me a total of 8.5
SPLITS
1- 8:49 Uphill almost the whole mile. I probably shouldn't have pushed so hard here and saved energy for later. Oh well, I was feeling good and really glad that I have been training on hills.
2- 8:04 A nice downhill here. I was lovin that.
3- 8:11 Flat. I felt so good here! Couldn't believe how well I was keeping my pace and I even walked through the water stop. Lily, it must have been your honey trick, I ate a spoonfull this morning before I left my house :)
4- 8:50 Uh oh, after this mile is when things started getting rough.
5- 8:54 Surprised I was even under 9. Ran with Wes for a little bit here and that helped a lot. Started getting that same stomach cramp in my lower right stomach. So I backed down a bit.
6- 9:57 YIKES! There is a stipid hill in this mile which I really hated because you're already so dead and here's a nice hill in your face. But I ran up the whole thing without stopping. I didn't realize I was going so slow, I could have shaved a whole minute off my time here if I would have just kept at 9. Merri passed me here pushing a stroller with two heavy kids in it. :) no big deal. ha
.22- 2:02 I sprinted hard the last .1 to make sure I got in under 55.
I don't know that I'll do this particular race again. It's fun to do one on the 4th but I don't love this course and it was a mess to get out of there after the race with the parade and such. it's just nice that it's close to where I live but next year I may find one somewhere else.
Kelli- I looked for you! But I'm sure you did great and maybe another race we'll run into eachother. Congrats to everybody else who ran a race today and HAPPY 4th!

Ugh, I hate when i don't just get up and run. Laid in bed forever debating, then decided yes. Got up and started digging through the laundry basket to find my clothes. Okay, this was mucho-mucho better! The last mile is always a killer for me, but it felt good. The only thing is that my left knee still hurts and i was very stiff and sore to start. I'm running 10 on Saturday so I'm thinking I'll cross train tomorrow and give my legs a little rest from running. I woke up late today and really only had time for 3 miles but decided I would sacrifice my job and run another mile even though I knew it would make me late, lol. That's why I didn't have time to write more before.
So I was crossing the street at a 4 way stop light, it wasn't really my turn to cross, but there were no cars coming so I thought that would be okay. So I'm running (not even slow) and this car comes flying up and honks at me. Okay car, like that 2 seconds you had to brake really cost you a lot of time. It just bugged me, like yeah it technically wasn't my time to cross but I was crossing fast and if he had been going the speed limit- 25 mph, he wouldn't have even come up on me that fast. I just hate it when people honk, even when I'm driving. Like I really cost him that much time, maybe 5 seconds. |

I DID IT! No longer a 13.1 virgin and so happy. I'll post more later but we've got a busy day- birthday parties, baptism, and showers. :)
Avg. Pace 9:50 and I'm okay with that for sure! This is the longest I have ever ran in my ENTIRE LIFE! Ever. And also it was more of a training run for me for Hobble Creek.
So it wasn't quite 13.1, but close enough. I walked around a lot after, so I'm counting it. I think I took the wrong loop at the end and that's what cut it short. Just following the leader ha ha.
This was really fun, thank you to all of you who put this together! I loved the shirt, the treats after were fantastic and the company was the best. It was so fun to meet all you people that seriously keep me going everyday!
I was feeling pretty good until about mile 10 and then it got a little rough but I was scared that if I started walking I wouldn't be able to start running again. :) I tried about 1/4 a thing of gu at mile 6 and it kind of made me sick so I decided not to take anymore. I should have probably taken some at mile 9 but oh well. I finished! My lower back is EXTREMELY sore and my knees feel like I have arthritis (what I imagine arthritis feels like) but I loved it.

| My knees have been sore since the race so I decided to take today off. Well I decided at 6 when my alarm was going off. The kitten has developed this awesome new habit of meowing everyday at 4:30 a.m. It's horrible and he'll do it for about a half hour. So when the alarm went off it was not happening for me. But it's okay I think the legs need some recovery time and I'll try to do a bike ride tonight. |

That .01 is important. Today was okay, as far as my pace goes I was really glad about it. But my left knee is killing me. I felt like I was hobbling the first mile until I could warm up. I ran to the gym, and tried to lift and could barely do leg presses because the pressure on my knee hurt so bad. I'm going to go get a band for it tonight becuase when I pushed the point of pain, it helped relieve it so I'm thinking a band will help.
I ran home from gym and then around a bit to get 5. Then I was late for work. ha ha, it's worth it, I really wanted to get 5.

5 in 45 something. I don't know why I was feeling it yesterday because today I am not as far as speed goes. Both knees were hurting this morning along with my lower back. My lower back has been super bad since Saturday. Sunday it felt great and then all this week it's been bad. Lucky for me though my FIL is a chiropractor and he just got in town today. So he popped it a trillion times and it feels better but it is still sore. He tells me I shouldn't even be running so much because my arches are crap and my knees are crap and blee blah. He also said that wearing the water belt can throw off your back because the water levels on each side can be different. I thought that was intersting because I was wearing a water belt saturday and I usually never do.
Moral of the story- I'll probably take it easy the rest of this week and see how sore I am after timp hike to decide what my long run will be on Saturday. |

Hiked Timp. I underestimated the sun on the way back down and my legs and neck are fried. It was a fun little activity the last few miles were a killer and we just wanted to be done! :) It's my hubby's birthday today so that's why I took the day off to go hike with him. |

I'm just glad I actually got up on a Monday and ran! Monday's are stinky for 2 reasons. 1 because it means the weekend is over, blech. And 2 because it's garbage day in my neighborhood so everyone's can's are out and I get to smell them as I run past all the houses. yummy.
I wanted to drive to the Canyon and do my run there but I was too chicken. Sometimes I get nervous running up there alone because a girl I work with got flashed by a creepo guy there last summer... So I just ran around Orem. Up to Orem blvd, then down to UVU and around the campus then back up that blasted hill and around my block to get 6. The best part about this is that I ran inside UVU at about mile 3 to get a drink from the fountain. It was perfect placement and timing for a drink.
Legs and back felt good today, it was my lungs that had a hard time keeping up. My first 3 miles were great time then it tapered down a lot after that. But I was thinking 2 weeks ago I couldn't do 2 miles at a consistent pace and now I can do 3 consistent- so I'm improving I guess! AVG 9:15

HAPPY PIONEER DAY! This race was good, I'm a little sad that my time didn't improve more from the 10k I did on the 4th. And as I look over the training I have done over the past 3 weeks I can see why- I've got to kick it in the butt!
But I am happy that my splits were more consistent, which was something I definitely didn't have on the 4th. The goal I set before hand was under 55. That was dumb. I should have pushed myself and said under 53. So next 10k I'm shooting for under 53. Saw a lot of FRB's there- Kelli, TylerS, Josse (you passed me somewhere around mile 3), Merri, Lyns, Lily and probably more. It's fun to recognize faces there.

Woke up an hour earlier than I usually do because I wanted to semi make up for not going yesterday at all. Walked out of my bedroom and our little cabinet was all open and I thought that was wierd. Walked upstairs and the back door was wide open. Walked to the backyard and yard gate was wide open. Saved my kitty and brought him back inside to realize that every drawer/cupboard in the house was open. Yelled at my husband and woke him up, he checked his wallet and yep... we'd been robbed. They only took the cash, not cards. They also took I pod, headphones, nintendo, and some money from my sister in law that was sleeping upstairs. All in all about $715. Surprised that's all they stole considering our laptop was right there and dvds, tv's, etc. We think they were just after cash so they could buy drugs. Took the ipod and nintendo ds because they're easy to pawn. I feel bad, it was all my husbands stuff that got stolen.
Needless to say I didn't get a work out because we were talking to the police and doing finger print dustings all morning. I'm really shook up. These people walked all over our entire house. And were even in our bedroom and we didn't wake up. But at the same time I'm glad we didn't wake up because who knows what state the robbers were in and a confrontation could have been dangerous.
I'll for sure go tonight, I'll prob just run at the gym. I don't dare not go 3 days in a row. stupid stupid dishonest people with no conscience.

Sheesh, I don't know what my deal is. Could not wake up today. Could have something to do with my anxiety of falling asleep last night and waking up a million times throughout the night :).
I ran late last night and i think that didn't help my tired situation. I just need to get over it and force myself to get up so I can get back on schedule of running in the morning! I do not like running at night.

Who would have guessed- I actually CAN wake up in the morning. Ran to gym, ran a fast mile there on the TM, lifted a little and then ran home. I felt pretty good today, got a charlie horse in my ankle around mile 3- that was cool. And it was pretty windy but I didn't mind it so much after the gym. Running at the gym feels like you are running IN a sauna, so the breeze is really nice after that. My back was hurting at the end and still hurts a little. I think I'll just have to deak with it :). Other than all that it was a good run and glad I got out this morning. It reminded me that it's not so bad once you get out and get moving!

in 1:34:03. This felt pretty good today! I'm so glad. Met my friend Jerica at the mouth of the canyon, she ran with me for a mile and then I went on by myself. 5 up and 5 down. 3 in 24:30 and .5 cool down. This run felt surprisingly good and I really was able to push myself. The first 2 miles felt good at the pace and then I had to really concentrate to keep the 3rd mile at low 8. But it turned out good and I felt good about it. I always finish and wish I had just done another mile to build up my mileage, but of course I woke up late and this was really all I had time for. But really for me to get up on a Monday and go is a huge accomplishment.

At the beginning of the run I'm dreading it and then at the end I wish I could just do another mile.... gotta get up earlier! The temp was so nice today. Only had to run into the sun for about a half mile, and even then the air was still cool.
Ran by your old stomping grounds Merri (time square) then down to UVU around it and the back up the biggest HILL of my life to get back to my house.

2.1 to gym, ran 2 on the TM then lifted a lifted a little and then ran back home. It was a good run. Don't have my watch so don't know my splits. I know the 1st 2 miles were around 8:15 pace, 2 miles on treadmill at 8:10 pace, and 2 miles home at 9 min pace.
The weather was pretty nice today, I'm loving the cloud cover. But the air felt so humid, I wish it would just rain already.

Did a little 5k in 25:48 this morning. I like the little loop I've made around the neighborhood. I always do so much faster on the 2nd mile on this loop. I don't know why, it's just flat eveytime I've run it I've been either below 8 or right at 8, which is fast for me. And then I die on the 3rd mile :).
My left knee was buggin, and ITB on the same leg. It's so wierd. I haven't felt my ITB for about a month and I've been stretching the same and then it just decides to come back out of the blue. oh well, I'm sure it will go away again and I'll just keep stretching my little heart out and maybe get a foam roller.

in 1:43:04 - So glad to be done! I don't know why but mentally before I begin my longer runs I'm always nervous I won't be able to do it. Even though I did 10 last week I know I can do 11 this week. Anyway, I started at 6 so that I wouldn't get in the way of the Provo Canyon 1/2 marathoners. Ran up Provo Canyon 5.5 and then down 5.6. On the way back down I was wishing I had started a little later because it would have been fun to run down with the racers. Oh well, it was a good run and could the temperatures be any better??? It felt like Fall. It was awesome and I always love running up the canyon.
This is also the most I have ever run in a week! Next week goal is to break 30.

5.1 to start out my birthday!!! I should have gotten to sleep in today because of that, but I knew the weather was going to be cooler so I decided to get out and get going.
Did it in 44: something something. I don't have my watch but i will post my splits later. I love posting the splits and comparing them to just a week ago or 2 weeks ago and seeing the improvement. i know the first 3 miles were 8:15 average and then slower the next 2 miles because I did my UVU loop and that hill is a killer. And the wind! I wanted to kick the wind in the face. I couldn't hardly catch my breath on the last 2 miles. |

I think I should have stayed in bed today- actually the problem is that I stayed in bed a little too long this is all I could fit in. Good old Garmin died about .25 into the run- darn it! But I figure I was probably running about 5 minute miles, so that's good :).
I just did the loop I do everyday, just a little shorter version. I could tell it's getting hot again, I really loved the past few days of cooler temps- too bad it just can't stay like that forever! But hey, atleast I didn't have wind today. It was a good quick run. Tomorrow I'll try for anywhere between 5-7. |

Didn't want to get up today, but I laid there for 10 minutes just feeling guilty so I did it. Do I ever start a post without saying I didn't want to get up today? Probably not.
4 in 33:20. I was really happy with the time and feel like I'm getting faster. I think right now I could get a PR in a 5k and maybe in October at Save a Sister I'll get a PR in the 10k. As for Hobble Creek, I'm not going to push it. As it's my first big half marathon- let's not forget RHPC 1/2, but this is my first 1/2 with a million other people running it and I'm slightly nervous. So I've decided I'm just going to run what feels comfortable and then I can improve on my time each 1/2 to come. Goal is to be right around 2 hours.

Today was a nice run, I had planned to run to the gym but woke up late. I kind of hate that run to the gym too, so I think that's part of why I decided to sleep in a little later. I felt pretty good today, and felt fast my 1st 2 miles and then the wind started being a brat. And I just hit a brick wall a little. I saw some ladies from my ward out running and I should have run with them but I was going a different way. Maybe I'll start going with them though, a running buddy always helps.

5k in 26:24- don't have my watch but I think my splits were 8:38, 8:19, 8:30 (not sure on this last mile).
It was an okay run. Some runs, I'll be at 2 miles before I even realize it. Today I felt every single painful step. I was sore today. Right hip hurt, left knee hurt, was just one of those days i guess.
I think tomorrow I'll rest or maybe go lift at Golds, and then Friday run an easy 3 again. And then rock it on Saturday! :). I'm so nervous pervous! |

Done and Done! I'm sore and really tired and i think I need to throw up. :) But it was a good race. More details to come later on after 7 peaks!
**********REPORT************
The race started a 1/2 hour late and that was bad. It was so hot at the end, but atleast I had good company to hang out with before the race- Kellie, Josse, Sue, Julie, Michele, Lyns and a few other bloggers I didn't catch names! So good to see all you girls! And Kellie- thank you for packing my extra shirt! I completely forgot you had it until Lyns gave it to me, thanks! My goal was to be under 2 hours and I did it! Which I am really happy about but I didn't feel strong at the end and so i'm slightly discouraged with the race. And I NEVER could have done it without Merri, she met me at mile 5-ish and really helped me. Thankfully she wasn't yelling at me to go faster and pushing my back forcing me along like a lady right behind us was doing to her friend. That wouldn't work for me. Anyway here's my splits
Miles 1-6: 7:54, 7:58, 8:15, 8:12, 8:29, 8:13- I loved all the down hill! Miles 1-3 I was having a wierd side pain on my right side. The only thing I can think is that I took aspirin right before and my stomach hated it. I just had to talk myself through it and try to breathe through it, and luckily it went away. Merri met me around Mile 5. I felt good and my 10k time was 50:03! I wish this had been a 10k that's a PR. Took Gu at Mile 6 water stop and it made my stomach hurt a little I think I maybe drank a little to much water too.
Miles 7-9: 9:25, 9:10, 8:59 This is where I started to die mentally, just a little- you'll see I died majorly mentally later on :) This is where you come onto the trail and the sun was so hot and blazing right on us. I'm glad I had Merri through here, she kept me going for real.
Miles 10-13.1: 10:07, 9:43, 10:32, 10:06- See I told you I really died at the end. The sun was so hot and I wanted so bad to be done. I really was ready to give up. Merri helped me with my timing and we knew if I could just do a 30 min 5k I would be under 2 hours. These last 3 miles I had to concentrate on making it phone pole to phone pole. I needed to pee but thought I could make it to the finish, and no worries I DID make it to the finish but I should have taken a potty break. It might have helped. These last 3 miles were really hard and I thought I would never finish.
I'm glad to be done and glad I did it under 2 hours! I can't help but wonder how much better it would be in 10 degrees cooler temperature at the end. And how did I miss the Ice cold diet pepsi!!! oh well, the chocolate milk really hit the spot and then my hubby had breakfast waiting for me when I got home- I guess that makes up for him missing the race :). |

Just nothing today and that felt great! Saturday we went swimming and I think that helped with the soreness, i felt great all day Saturday. Sunday I woke up and could barely move all day. Today I set my alarm in case I felt like running. I woke up and wasn't as sore but my running stuff wasn't clean and i was really tired so I just decided to recover again today. But don't worry i'll be back at it tomorrow.
I am going to do either SF 5k or Onion Days 5k. I'm leaning more towards Onion Days- I need that awesome breakfast afterward! :) And if I decide to come, I can bring ANYTHING. But we'll see, SF is a little closer. Does anyone know which course is better? I'm hoping to get a PR on it. I haven't ran a 5k for over a year and my best one was 27: something. I know SF is an out an back, I'll have to look up Onion days course map. |

| I'm having a hard time finding motivation. HC was the big thing I was training for. I think I just need to sign up for the 5k on Labor day and I can focus on that for the time being. I know I'll get up and do atleast 5 tomorrow because I feel too guilty for not going today :(. But at the same time I think taking a few days off to recover is okay. I'll be back at it again tomorrow. |

I remember how to run! I was worried I would have forgotten. I really had to force myself up and out. As always glad I did. And once I got going I remembered that I like running. Maybe I just had a sour taste in my mouth about running because of the way I felt those last 3 miles of Hobble. But luckily today did not feel like that. Just took it nice and slow. Made the mistake of running down on UVU campus and it's the first day of school and there were a million people there. And I felt dumb running around all the people, so I won't do that again. I'll have to find a new loop now that school has started again. On a happier note, I ran up the big hill on 8th south by uvu and didn't stop once! I don't know if I've ever done that before.

8 SLOW miles. 4 up the canyon and 4 back down. The wind was a beast this morning and on my way up the canyon there were times I felt like I was moving backward. I remembered today that I like running. I don't know why I'm so easy to forget except that my bed is always so warm and outside of the bed isn't :). It was a good run today. I just wanted to do what felt comfortable. You know me, I don't like to push myself :). Actually since last week was so off and on running I didn't want to push too much and pull a muscle or something. I don't feel like I'm where I want to be for a 5k so I probably won't do Onion days :(. I just want to kill my last time when I do it adn I don't think that will happen right now.
Oh and I think I'm starting a new job! I don't know for sure when yet but the hours would be 7-4 (ouch that's early) so I guess I'll have to start running after work. i don't think I can do the 5 a.m. running thing.

I didn't get started until 9 and it was a hot little buggar out there. I had to really push to get the 6 and my time shows it. 5k in under 26 I remember that. I'll post splits later.

Having a hard time getting this new 7 a.m. work schedule to work around my running. I tried getting up at 5 today and I was wide awake- what kept me in bed was that it was pitch black outside. Scary. Then when I got home at 5 pm I was exhausted and just woke up from a big nap. After the nap I was starving so I had to eat and now here I sit with a full enchillada belly and running is the last thing I could handle right now.
I will figure out a way to make this work, I think Ijust need some time to adjust. But I will do it tomorrow. I'll figure out a way to run/exercise tomorrow. |

5 miles in the rain after work and it felt AWESOME! Especially considering my lack of running the past week. I would take these temperatures gladly everyday. The rain kept my body temperature down and I felt cool. The rain didn't get too hard until the last 1/2 mile and at that point I could barely see but I was almost home so it didn't matter. |

Woah, what a difference temperature makes. I wasn't sure if I was going to get 2 miles in. But seriously anytime I run after work in the PM, it's a big accomplishment for me. One of these days I tell you, one of these days I will get up and try the 5 a.m. running thing. I better try before it gets too cold and snowy because I know I won't do it then.
This run was just sooooo hot. And where did all the bugs come from??? Pretty sure I ate 5 and had a million stuck to my face. Even when I got home and looked in the mirror there were 2 little tiny black bugs stuck to my face. I'm sure they died from drowning in the sweat. :)

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times- yeah, I think I've said it a hundred times. Running after work is hard! 3 miles in just under 26 and then slow slow slow. I can't even tell you. The 4th mile was going up the UVU hill and the strongest wind of my life was blowing right into my face. Didn't know if I was ever going to make it home :).
Then when I did get home I decided to take our cat outside in the back while I tried to cool down. Well there was another cat on our fence and the next thing I know my cat is jumping the fence trying to catch this other cat. They're squealing and I'm chasing after my cat and I finally get up to him and other cat has ran away and my cat is going crazy and hissing and being a freak. So I have to pick him up and hope for my life I don't die trying to carry him inside. He got me really really good on both arms and he is never never going outside again. naughty naughty. |

Guess who's back, back again....
Hi It's Leandra, you might remember me from such films as "Hey-there's a million bugs in my face" and "I just love to sleep in".
Tonight's run was surprisingly GOOD, especially considering that .3 into it I felt like I had already burned my lungs- oops. I decided I would go to 3 and see how I felt. The loop I run, 3 is at an intersection. I can either turn right to go back to my house or left and do another litle loop that equals longer run. So I got to 3 and felt okay. And the run was going by fast so I just decided to keep going.
Glad I ran again, wish I could just be more consistent. I am doing Save a Sister 5k at the end of October and I really wanna PR so I gotta kick it in the booty. But I'm just so happy I got out and ran 5 even if they weren't the fastest miles a girl has ever done.

Went at dusk and was pretty nervous the whole time. I tell you, I get freaked out that I'm going to get snatched up by an unmarked, windowless van. :).
Didn't wear headphones tonight because I wanted to be able to hear all the cat calls more clearly. jk. My ipod was dead which was actually alright with me because around mile 2 or 3 the music starts to annoy me anyway.
Slow miles felt like I was going faster but oh well. I had to fill and frost eclairs tonight for YW in Excellence tomorrow night. And I accidently ate like 10 before the run... So I'll blame the slow on that.

Say hello to my first running post in almost 2 weeks! yikes. One of the YW in my ward is on the swim team and this was a fund raiser for them. I wasn't going to do it because I feel fat and slow from never running but wanted to support this little girlie and in doing so I got a PR! Which made me happy and sad at the same time. Sad because had I been training how fast would my 5k be? But mostly happy :).

I should not train for races more often! jk, this was pretty painful after 1.5. I was really happy with my splits though. I really had to concentrate that last mile to keep my pace up. And I took 1st in my age group! So maybe there were only 11 in my age group. I still took 1st! Which is a first! Get it. :). This is a really fun race, except I don't reccommend it to anyone because I don't want more competition down there.

This once a week thing is working out nice for me :) jk I want to do more and this next week might be the week.
Ran 3 something with some ladies in my ward. I'm glad they invited me, it's what got me out this morning. It's so nice running with someone especially when they do all the talking. It's hard for me to talk and run so I like to just listen and it makes it go by so fast! Then I ran 2 1/4 more by myself. I don't really know how much I ran because I thought I pushed start on garmin but actually pushed stop when I was running with the ladies... So i'll say 5.25 to be safe even though it was prob more. Really I should say 10 or 20 to be safe...
The temps were perfect today! I would way rather bundle up and run I have decided than die in the heat like I was all summer. |

| I felt pretty good for not having run for 2 weeks! Except for when I finished I was super nauseous for about a 1/2 hour. Other than that it felt great to get out and the weather was perfect. I bundled up but it felt good to be out in the clean, crisp air! I got off work on time today- which is a rare occurence so I had time to run before it got dark. And it felt great! I need to do this more often :) Thanks to you fellow bloggers who keep me in mind even when I haven't run for 2 weeks! Your comments really help to get me out. |
