This was rough. And I never know whether to put it in fast or slow miles because they're just medium speed miles I think. 

Around 1.5 I started getting this super sharp pain in the lower right part of my stomach.  I tried to keep running but it was unbearable.  So I stopped and walked until I could breathe again and then started up again only for the pain to come back every half mile or so. What a brat, that pain is. 

I wanted to do 5 but ran out of time with all the stopping and starting and blah blah. This better not happen to me on Saturday!  Tomorrow I think I'll stretch and do a little strength training at the gym.

I know it doesn't make any sense but for some reason that song is stuck in my head.  Nothing but snoozing today, My big race is tomorrow!  And my sister (not merri, thank goodness :)) slept at my house last night and kept me up too late. 

Tomorrow my goal is to beat last years time, which should be easy- 59:41. 

2nd Goal is to be under 56.  Wish me luck!  I'm going to figure out how to make my garmin beep if I go below a 9 minute pace.  I figure that will help.

It's over and I've never been so glad! And I beat both goals!  I beat my last year time by over 5 minutes and also made it under 55!  My garmin said 54:30 and the race clock said 55 exactly, I sprinted so hard that last little bit to make sure the big clock would be under 55 as well.  8:49 average pace

I'm really happy about this race, I think it's a pretty hard 10k comparatively.  

When I got home I cooled down with 2.3 miles around my neighborhood at about a 10 min pace. Gave me a total of 8.5

SPLITS

1- 8:49 Uphill almost the whole mile.  I probably shouldn't have pushed so hard here and saved energy for later.  Oh well, I was feeling good and really glad that I have been training on hills.

2- 8:04 A nice downhill here. I was lovin that. 

3- 8:11 Flat.  I felt so good here! Couldn't believe how well I was keeping my pace and I even walked through the water stop.  Lily, it must have been your honey trick, I ate a spoonfull this morning before I left my house :)

4- 8:50 Uh oh, after this mile is when things started getting rough.

5- 8:54 Surprised I was even under 9.  Ran with Wes for a little bit here and that helped a lot.  Started getting that same stomach cramp in my lower right stomach.  So I backed down a bit.

6- 9:57 YIKES!  There is a stipid hill in this mile which I really hated because you're already so dead and here's a nice hill in your face.  But I ran up the whole thing without stopping.  I didn't realize I was going so slow, I could have shaved a whole minute off my time here if I would have just kept at 9.  Merri passed me here pushing a stroller with two heavy kids in it. :) no big deal.  ha

.22- 2:02  I sprinted hard the last .1 to make sure I got in under 55. 

I don't know that I'll do this particular race again. It's fun to do one on the 4th but I don't love this course and it was a mess to get out of there after the race with the parade and such.  it's just nice that it's close to where I live but next year I may find one somewhere else.

 Kelli- I looked for you! But I'm sure you did great and maybe another race we'll run into eachother.  Congrats to everybody else who ran a race today and HAPPY 4th!

Off to shower my stinky self and go get a snow cone!

4.5 in 40:11.  I hadn't turned on my garmin until .2 into it so really I ran 4.7.  I should have just gone to 5, but I was right by my house so decided to stop :).

Garmee isn't showing my workout in it's training history?  I don't know why.  So that stinks I can't read my splits.

Nevermind, it's showing the splits, but it's saying that today's workout was on July 4 at 9:40 a.m.-- wierd, has anybody else had this problem before?  It's probably the gallon of sweat that seeps into it during every run.

Ugh, I hate when i don't just get up and run.  Laid in bed forever debating, then decided yes.  Got up and started digging through the laundry basket to find my clothes.  And couldn't, then dumped the whole basket out and still couldn't find everything I needed.  After 5 minutes I gave up and crawled back into bed.

Have to pick up MIL at the airport after work but we should get back around 7 so maybe I'll go tonight. I atleast need to go lift and work on my legs since I haven't for a week!

 

PM MIL IS HERE! and I biked to gym and around for 5 miles.  Worked on legs, a little arms and abs at gym.  Oh yeah, and I got barked at by some boys driving by when I was biking. I guess that means I'm a dog? lol, high school age must be so fun for them.

Legs were lead. Heavy Heavy Lead.  I can't even post my splits because they are too embarrassing.  I don't know what the deal was but I was dragging.   The inside of my knee has been hurting since my race too.  So I was thinking this is fine, I'll take it super easy and super easy I took it pace wise but it didn't feel easy.

Okay, this was mucho-mucho better!  The last mile is always a killer for me, but it felt good.  The only thing is that my left knee still hurts and i was very stiff and sore to start.  I'm running 10 on Saturday so I'm thinking I'll cross train tomorrow and give my legs a little rest from running.  I woke up late today and really only had time for 3 miles but decided I would sacrifice my job and run another mile even though I knew it would make me late, lol.  That's why I didn't have time to write more before.

So I was crossing the street at a 4 way stop light, it wasn't really my turn to cross, but there were no cars coming so I thought that would be okay.  So I'm running (not even slow) and this car comes flying up and honks at me.  Okay car, like that 2 seconds you had to brake really cost you a lot of time.  It just bugged me, like yeah it technically wasn't my time to cross but I was crossing fast and if he had been going the speed limit- 25 mph, he wouldn't have even come up on me that fast.   I just hate it when people honk, even when I'm driving.  Like I really cost him that much time, maybe 5 seconds.

I DID IT! No longer a 13.1 virgin and so happy.  I'll post more later but we've got a busy day- birthday parties, baptism, and showers. :)

Avg. Pace 9:50 and I'm okay with that for sure! This is the longest I have ever ran in my ENTIRE LIFE! Ever. And also it was more of a training run for me for Hobble Creek.  

So it wasn't quite 13.1, but close enough.  I walked around a lot after, so I'm counting it.  I think I took the wrong loop at the end and that's what cut it short.  Just following the leader ha ha. 

This was really fun, thank you to all of you who put this together! I loved the shirt, the treats after were fantastic and the company was the best.  It was so fun to meet all you people that seriously keep me going everyday!

I was feeling pretty good until about mile 10 and then it got a little rough but I was scared that if I started walking I wouldn't be able to start running again.  :)  I tried about 1/4 a thing of gu at mile 6 and it kind of made me sick so I decided not to take anymore.  I should have probably taken some at mile 9 but oh well. I finished!  My lower back is EXTREMELY sore and my knees feel like I have arthritis (what I imagine arthritis feels like) but I loved it.

My knees have been sore since the race so I decided to take today off.  Well I decided at 6 when my alarm was going off.  The kitten has developed this awesome new habit of meowing everyday at 4:30 a.m.  It's horrible and he'll do it for about a half hour.  So when the alarm went off it was not happening for me.  But it's okay I think the  legs need some recovery time and I'll try to do a bike ride tonight.

That .01 is important.  Today was okay, as far as my pace goes I was really glad about it.  But my left knee is killing me.  I felt like I was hobbling the first mile until I could warm up.  I ran to the gym, and tried to lift and could barely do leg presses because the pressure on my knee hurt so bad.  I'm going to go get a band for it tonight becuase when I pushed the point of pain, it helped relieve it so I'm thinking a band will help. 

I ran home from gym and then around a bit to get 5.  Then I was late for work. ha ha, it's worth it, I really wanted to get 5.

5 in 45 something.  I don't know why I was feeling it yesterday because today I am not as far as speed goes.  Both knees were hurting this morning along with my lower back.  My lower back has been super bad since Saturday.  Sunday it felt great and then all this week it's been bad.  Lucky for me though my FIL is a chiropractor and he just got in town today.  So he popped it a trillion times and it feels better but it is still sore.  He tells me I shouldn't even be running so much because my arches are crap and my knees are crap and blee blah.  He also said that wearing the water belt can throw off your back because the water levels on each side can be different.  I thought that was intersting because I was wearing a water belt saturday and I usually never do. 

Moral of the story- I'll probably take it easy the rest of this week and see how sore I am after timp hike to decide what my long run will be on Saturday.

Hiked Timp.  I underestimated the sun on the way back down and my legs and neck are fried.  It was a fun little activity the last few miles were a killer and we just wanted to be done! :) It's my hubby's birthday today so that's why I took the day off to go hike with him.

I'm just glad I actually got up on a Monday and ran!   Monday's are stinky for 2 reasons.  1 because it means the weekend is over, blech.  And 2 because it's garbage day in my neighborhood so everyone's can's are out and I get to smell them as I run past all the houses.   yummy. 

I wanted to drive to the Canyon and do my run there but I was too chicken.  Sometimes I get nervous running up there alone because a girl I work with got flashed by a creepo guy there last summer...  So I just ran around Orem.  Up to Orem blvd, then down to UVU and around the campus then back up that blasted hill and around my block to get 6.  The best part about this is that I ran inside UVU at about mile 3 to get a drink from the fountain.  It was perfect placement and timing for a drink.

Legs and back felt good today, it was my lungs that had a hard time keeping up.  My first 3 miles were great time then it tapered down a  lot after that.  But I was thinking 2 weeks ago I couldn't do 2 miles at a consistent pace and now I can do 3 consistent- so I'm improving I guess! AVG 9:15

Ran to gym, had five seconds to lift, and then ran home.  Today wasn't as easy as I would hope but it was okay.  Pain has returned in my left knee, so I'm going to go get a little brace for it tonight.  I can't have this affecting Friday's speedy spaniard now can I?  :)

HAPPY PIONEER DAY!  This race was good, I'm a little sad that my time didn't improve more from the 10k I did on the 4th.  And as I look over the training I have done over the past 3 weeks I can see why- I've got to kick it in the butt!

 But I am happy that my splits were more consistent, which was something I definitely didn't have on the 4th.  The goal I set before hand was under 55.  That was dumb.  I should have pushed myself and said under 53.  So next 10k I'm shooting for under 53.  Saw a lot of FRB's there- Kelli, TylerS, Josse (you passed me somewhere around mile 3), Merri, Lyns, Lily and probably more.  It's fun to recognize faces there.

In 57 something. Ran 3.1 up Provo Canyon and then back down. Wanted to do more, atleast 8 but ran out of time.  Had to get home to get ready for nephy's baptism.  So many of those lately I feel like it's my Saturday activity every Saturday.

Woke up an hour earlier than I usually do because I wanted to semi make up for not going yesterday at all.  Walked out of my bedroom and our little cabinet was all open and I thought that was wierd.  Walked upstairs and the back door was wide open.  Walked to the backyard and yard gate was wide open.  Saved my kitty and brought him back inside to realize that every drawer/cupboard in the house was open.  Yelled at my husband and woke him up, he checked his wallet and yep... we'd been robbed.  They only took the cash, not cards.  They also took I pod, headphones, nintendo, and some money from my sister in law that was sleeping upstairs.  All in all about $715.  Surprised that's all they stole considering our laptop was right there and dvds, tv's, etc.  We think they were just after cash so they could buy drugs.  Took the ipod and nintendo ds because they're easy to pawn.  I feel bad, it was all my husbands stuff that got stolen.

Needless to say I didn't get a work out because we were talking to the police and doing finger print dustings all morning.  I'm really shook up.  These people walked all over our entire house.  And were even in our bedroom and we didn't wake up.  But at the same time I'm glad we didn't wake up because who knows what state the robbers were in and a confrontation could have been dangerous.

I'll for sure go tonight, I'll prob just run at the gym.  I don't dare not go 3 days in a row.  stupid stupid dishonest people with no conscience.

PM! Ran on Treadmill.  3 in 24:07, fast for me!  and then the next 2 were around 8:30 pace and I walked a little in between.

Sheesh, I don't know what my deal is.  Could not wake up today.  Could have something to do with my anxiety of falling asleep last night and waking up a million times throughout the night :). 

I ran late last night and i think that didn't help my tired situation.  I just need to get over it and force myself to get up so I can get back on schedule of running in the morning! I do not like running at night. 

I've got a busy night, but I'm gonna try and squeeze in atleast a 4 mile run.  Maybe 5, maybe 6!  We'll see what happens.  Hobble Creek is in like 5 seconds.  yikes!

Who would have guessed- I actually CAN wake up in the morning.  Ran to gym, ran a fast mile there on the TM, lifted a little and then ran home.  I felt pretty good today, got a charlie horse in my ankle around mile 3- that was cool.  And it was pretty windy but I didn't mind it so much after the gym.  Running at the gym feels like you are running IN a sauna, so the breeze is really nice after that. My back was hurting at the end and still hurts a little.  I think I'll just have to deak with it :).  Other than all that it was a good run and glad I got out this morning.  It reminded me that it's not so bad once you get out and get moving!
