Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Coach Tom left me to do my own and make my own decisions this morning.  I was planning on going 4 to 5 easy miles since I ran 14 on Saturday.  However, I accidentally ran 12.  Average pace 9:50.  If I didn't have 'mommy duties' I might still be out there running and growing a full beard with people joining in yelling "run Forest run!"  But alas....I must face Monday.

Tom had kind of a bad weekend and was feeling quite down by yesterday.  So I decided to pick him up from work and kidnap, (man-nap?),  him for the night.  Our kids were great to take on some extra responsibility so we could take away from our responsibility for a night.  This morning we had a very nice relaxed 6 mile run near his work in Provo that he runs often at lunch time.  Sometimes it's nice to just get away from it all for a few hours.  Thanks kids for helping us out!

The running week is going very well!  Nice morning run with Tom.  Kellie P. was going to join in today but there was a note on her driveway telling us to move on without her...bad night with the kid who just had his tonsils out.  So Tom and I plowed ourselves through the nice big wind we had coming from the canyon today! (We were remembering the days not so long ago that we ran that same windy route, but the temperature was more like 20 degrees instead of 60!  Brrrrr!  How did we do that?  And how will we do it again?)  With all that wind, and the windmills still aren't up and running full time yet.  Seems like such a waste of good wind!

Oh ya! Uh huh! Oh ya! Uh huh! (That's me doing an "I'm lovin' it" cheer!) Are ya feelin' it!? Tom and I started at Peteetneet this morning and ran up Payson Canyon for 3 1/2 miles and then back down. Going up is a gradual uphill for the first mile and then rolling hills that continue going up. As you come down, as you can imagine, it is just the opposite. "Running down hills is fun to do, fun to do, to do, to do....Running down hills is fun to do, to do, to do, to do!" How many of ya know that song? It took 38 minutes to go up and something like 28 minutes to come down.

Passed Marion on our way down. Great job Marion! Way to get out and do a tough workout all alone! We'll need to get some official group runs together for Payson Canyon.

Tom, could you please add in the stats if you get a minute? If you don't remember my password info, just add it into the comments. I want to be able to keep track of these things.

Here are the splits....

Uphill 3.5 miles:  1 - 11:08, 2 - 11:08, 3 - 10:21, .5 - 5:21 (10:44 pace).

Downhill (we did mile repeats with 2-min jog rest in between)

1 - 7:33 (then jog .21 miles @ 9:42 pace)

2 - 7:35 (.2 mile jog @ 10:02)

3 - 7:32

Overall average pace 9:22.

A few miles with Tom, a bit on my own and three with Kellie. Nice and easy today. Legs feel great after my run down Payson Canyon yesterday. Thought I might feel a little soreness. Not feeling it. Maybe tomorrow? I never really get sore no matter what I do. I'm not sore after a 5K, a track workout or hills. It doesn't make sense to me. I feel like I am working hard and should be stiff and sore the next day or two but it hardly ever happens. Does that mean I'm not working as hard as I think I am or what?

Last night we were able to watch Tani, (10 year old daughter), save the day at her softball game! It was so fun! We have pretty much lost every game of the season. This week is tournament. They lost the first game and we expected to loose last night and be done for the season.  However, they put Tani in as pitcher in the first inning after the main pitcher walked four in a row without hardly even a strike thrown.  Tani is not a pitcher, she plays around with it with Tom a bit at home, but definitely not much.  Well, she got in and struck three girls out in a row!  The momentum changed and we won with a score of 7-1.  Yeah  Tani!

Tom and I met up with the SF running group this morning.  I had 10 miles planned, he is still out with his 20.  I had 4 miles in the 9:25-9:49 range.  5 miles in the 8:11-8:43 range and one at 7:55.  The 1st one and last three were the 9s.  The last couple of miles I was feeling a little pain in the left IT band so I slowed it down to keep from doing any damage there.  This is my highest mileage week ever.  I think I'll enjoy my Sunday rest.
