Did a shake out run at 8:15am.  Getting HOT in am but still doable, no water on hat needed.  Kim and I are running 14 miles this PM so went short.  Ran last mile at marathon pace.  Thought I was slower so glad it was under 7  (6:55).  MP probably, hopefully will be 7:00.  Time will tell after my halfs.  Bryce Canyon Half  (next Saturday) starts at 6am and I just looked at the weather there at Ruby's Inn and it is currently (9am) 52 degrees.  Hey, BRRRRrrrrrr for the the start at 6am then.  I better start running in the "cold" again.  I will probably bundle up for this race, long race and short race tee for sure.  Until PM run.....write later.   Average pace for 3.65=  8:10.

PM RUN IN THE SAUNA (outdoors that is).  It was such dry heat we didn't realize we sweated at all.  I was down 1.5 pounds post run and that's after downing nearly half a 32 ouncer of gatorade at the "finish line" where I also poured water all over myself as at first tried laying down and the world was "spinning".  Kim and I started cramping up after mile 10 without electrolyes.  We had three water stops but those are just sips and just plain water.  Good for our hats though and reducing some of the heat wave.  We left at 655pm and ran just over 14 miles at  8:16 pace (according to the GARMIN, hate that thing it "slows" me down).  We ran from PG to the Alpine circle via Alpine highway and down to Cedar Ridge Elementary and on to the River Trail....ah weather nice by the stream but was stenchy the remaining of the run.  Sauna-like.  Your sweat evaporated quickly.  Pigged out afterwards on two servings of cottage cheese and freshly baked whole wheat banana bread with OJ-  thanks to Troy.  The kids have a swim meet in Payson at 0700.  Early mornin' tomorrow and I work tomorrow night.  LONG DAY.  BRING IT ON :  D DDDDDDDDDDD

Wow 7:00 as marathon pace. What sort of half-marathon time predicts you for that fast of a marathon? You have some nice PR's as it is--you are a running machine!

I always have lofty goals. I aim for 7-7:10. I was 7:37 at Ogden not at my peak for the season I don't think but my fastest marathon. I am always this way. It is never just finishing, it is finishing pushing it to the limits. I plan a 1:30 or less at the half at Hobble Creek the third Saturday in August. Bryce Canyon's half will hopefully be at 1:31- 1:33. One week will tell me more about my loftiness. I really just want under 3:15 for the marathon. I think I can do this and even better at St. George. Yikes, do I dare say that? Then I will head for the trails and my big 50 miler next June.

julie, 7:00 is a great goal and i think it is doable for you. that would get you well under 3:15 at STG. your training is going well and you are looking strong. go for it!!!!

Wow, awesomely hot run! You are braver than me! You will get that 7:00 pace marathon for sure with your determination!

That's some serious training runs! You're so speedy. GOOD LUCK at Bryce. You will hit your goals, I'm sure!

Okay, reality check, I think I need to bring my MP to 7:20 goal. However half marathon goal remains at 7:00, crossing fingers as I don't do much speed work. I use races as speed work/tempo runs. I read about other runners doing a lot of great speed work and I do these off pace runs and think what is going to happen come race day? Got to get goin' !!!

Hey you just may be able to do it! That would be AWESOME!
