Ran middle distance in college with a PB of 1:52 for the 800 meters, then continued running with varying degrees of seriousness throughout my 20's and 30's. A.M. - Run to work - 20:22 With warmer weather, clearance to start running and no childcare pickups for a while, it is a great time to start commuting to work. GPS measures it as 2.55 so round trip we'll call it 5. Felt full of energy this morning and it wasn't too bad of a run. P.M. - Run home - 19:41 It was warm out and I was tired and dehydrated. The runs home will suck on the busy roads at that time of afternoon. Oh well, it's only 20 minutes. Average pace of 7:37/mile - way faster than I've run in months.

Felt fine at the end, so I think I can finally start bumping it up a little bit. I think I've been babying myself in fear of injuring my back or losing more feeling in my leg. For the most part, a good run on the greenbelt and onto the dirt trail past Park Center. Started a tempo 35 minutes into the run, and about 7 minutes into my tempo, my calf seized up. I limped back the last few miles fearing that it had to do something with the nerves from my back injury, but now I'm hopeful it's just a cramp. I'll stretch it really good and see how it feels tomorrow.

In San Diego for a few days, and I took a nice evening run from the hotel. A few hours earlier I'd enjoyed a double burger, fries/onion rings, coke and milkshake from Hodad's, and we'd had a bit a of a long day of travel. But once I got going, it was great. Tons and tons of runners out, and on the way back to the hotel, I picked it up and started picking people off. Finished with a 6:10 mile and a 2:55 half before a short cool down.

Ran in the morning, and my legs were a little beat from yesterday's travel and last night's harder run. Went out to Fiesta Island for a few miles on sand and dirt, then finished back on the Bay Path at the end. Beautiful, sunny morning out and again, lots of company on the run.

Lower legs and calves got a little bit beat up and tired by the end, but all in all, a great morning to be out with everybody else. San Diego is a fit city...

Did a morning workout at the Bishop Kelly track. It was brisk, but nice. The 200s were untimed, and the 600s averaged 2:12. Lower back felt stiff and the mechanics felt way off, but it was actually an improvement from last week doing a couple of 600s. I'll keep trying to slowly progress.

A great morning run with a brisk temp of 17 degrees when I started. Completely quiet and tranquil the whole run - no vehicles, no people the entire run. Gradual uphill on the way out made for a quicker return trip, with the last four miles under 7;00/mile pace. Hit snow and ice at mile 3.5 so I had to tread carefully for a bit. Overall pace was sub-7:20, so a solid run. For some reason, I was pretty spent for the next several hours - kind of like I'd run a race.

Took the girls out in the double stroller for a few minutes, then did the rest of the run with Emily. Average pace of around 11:00/mile. Hadn't run with Emily for a long time! It was nice to get out on a really warm late afternoon.

| Tamarack resort - 23+
In Tamarack for a few days. Took my first run in at least 10 days - have been down for the count with the flu or something. Great to be out running but coughed up a lot of nasty green stuff afterwards.
P.M. - Skate skiing 30+ minutes - Been a few years since I'd done this, but it was free so I flailed around a bit. Trails were icy and the snow was marginal. Super fun sport that I wish I could devote some more time to.

Great morning run from the cabin. Ran a few laps on some x-country ski trails that had been groomed and packed down, but nobody's using them. I didn't sink down too much, and I had a great run. Lungs feeling a bit better today - not so much coughing - and I even managed a decent pace in the snow and ice at 5000'.

Back to Boise today, and wasn't up to running in the inversion. As it was, my lungs suffered even on the treadmill. Decent run though, and did 5 x 30 second pickups in the last 10 minutes.

Felt pretty good and averaged 7:42/mile. The canals were icy and slow, so I detoured and ran a couple of laps around Borah at about 7:15/mile pace.
