"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

| | 4.2 miles of recovery on the fire break road with the young' un / 10:32 avg. On today's run I thought about how delusional it probably is of me to think I could run a 100 miler like the Wasatch 100. I'm thinking I'll give it another year and focus on completing another 50k, and perhaps try a 50 miler and 100k in 2011. If training goes really well this summer, I might consider running the Pony Express 100 miler in the fall. A relatively flat course. But yeah, I need more miles behind me, more strength, and more experience before tackling the mountain 100 milers. Fortunately I live in a place where I can run from my door and onto the Wasatch 100 course most of the year. I hope to take advantage of this often. MT101 performance review: GRIPPY. WT 60.5 miles

5 miles of rest / 9:31 avg. From work. Overcast, 25F (still shorts weather around here!). My first 70 mile week in a while. Of course, it took running all 7 days to do it, but still...

| | 16 miles. Commute run home after a short day at work. Overcast, a little sun here and there, a light mist/drizzle now and then, lots of slush afoot, 35+ degrees. Perfect. 8:55 avg. This week I Favred a couple of old pairs of speedstar 3's. They performed well. Very satisfying to know I can still use them considering they were mere moments from being tossed in the dog toy bin last Spring. WT (an ominous) 66.6 miles
