"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

On today's run I thought about how delusional it probably is of me to think I could run a 100 miler like the Wasatch 100. I'm thinking I'll give it another year and focus on completing another 50k, and perhaps try a 50 miler and 100k in 2011. If training goes really well this summer, I might consider running the Pony Express 100 miler in the fall. A relatively flat course. But yeah, I need more miles behind me, more strength, and more experience before tackling the mountain 100 milers. Fortunately I live in a place where I can run from my door and onto the Wasatch 100 course most of the year. I hope to take advantage of this often.

you are amazing for even thinking about doing it. I don't believe I would or ever could go there even in my dreams. You are awesome. See you in a few!

pony express could be fun. wasatch looks like fun in a masochistic sort of way, but it would be a tall order for a first 100 (which also makes it that much more epic if you do it... so i say go for it... home courses are easy, right...)

you're 101 review of grippy has me intrigued. my one concern after seeing them in the store was that the very shallow lugs on the bottom wouldn't provide much traction and that they would be a little slippery. hhhmmmm.... i might have to go snag a pair...

Thanks Lysa.

Nevels - Someday I will tackle the Wasatch 100. It is a home course after all. Maybe 2012, or later. Meanwhile I can bide my time running out sections of the course, hopefully all of it eventually.

The other nice thing about the 101's, besides their beauty and functionality, is that NB chose not to gouge us on price.
