Boston Buddies virtual race today, decided last minute to do a 5k today instead of wait and do a 10k tomorrow, stomach was feeling off beforehand, but I gave it a shot. I sought out the most downhill 5k course I could find for 2 reasons: 1. to offset the altitude and 2. to cut loose, have fun, and see how fast I could go. Goal was 17:10ish, real outside goal once I got moving was sub-17, 2.5 warmup, then went into it, my splits were awesome: 5:29.9, 5:26.5, 5:13.1, .11 in :35. 16:44.6 total. The Moley Mile is named for a guy who always runs his last mile of every race as his fastest, so whatever distance we chose (hundreds in the group doing this race this weekend -also got a cool medal and for a good cause, Second Step against domestic violence), we had to do a Moley mile. I dropped mine with a 5:13 close - was super impressed with myself. In fact, was super impressed with the overall time - sub-17 at this altitude is not something I've done before, and even though it was downhill, I was happy with it - especially with my finish - 10:39 2 mile for miles 2 & 3. Felt amazing too, despite the stomach feelings at the start, once I got moving, I felt great and my legs and stride were just so smooth the whole time. 3.5ish cooldown
