Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them
Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000,
first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with
the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and
195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video
was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is
"more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. And make sure to share it with your friends.

I ran this one with Alex. We averaged a 7:39 pace. It felt smooth.
I ran this one with Ashley, we averaged 8:19 pace. It felt fine and I did an 8 min ab workout afterwards. I want to pick up the pace on these upcoming runs though.
Averaged a 7:02 mile pace. This one was a bit faster, I ran solo. I had to focus on staying relaxed and I had to focus a lot on my breathing to keep it balanced and steady. It felt good to open up more though. Followed with 8 minutes of core.
Averaged 7:08 mile pace today, but it felt easier to control my breathing than yesterday did. There was a good hill I ran up the last half mile on 400 south coming in but I didn't run it hard, I just tried to stay relaxed. Today felt good.
Averaged a 7:10 pace today. My legs felt heavy today but my breathing felt fine. 8 minutes of core afterwards.
7:35 pace. This one felt pretty relaxed. 8 min of core after.
It was a little longer than I planned for. I ran with Alex and we averaged a 7:05 pace. This run felt good. My breathing felt controlled and steady and my legs felt relaxed. Followed with 8 min of core.
7:16 pace, today felt less comfortable but it was good.
I wanted to run a mile just to see what I could do. 1 mile warm up 1 mile cool down. I ran a 5:03. 2:30 through 800. I was trying so hard to pick it up the second half but it just wasn't there. It was fun though.
First run sub 7 pace since being back, 6:57 average. It felt a little hard but it was fine. 8 min of core before the run.
With Branson, 7:11 pace. Felt a little hard but not overly so.
With the MV boys, 6:57 average pace. It felt good to run in a group, today felt like a relaxed fast.
6:52 average. The last mile was up the 400 south hill and was a 7:00. Today I felt really smooth, strong, and relaxed. 8 minutes of core afterwards.
7:11 pace, this run was hard because we were fasting but it was fun.
With Isaiah, and Joe Benson and his dad. It was actually not too hard of a run because the pace wasn't too hot (7:40 avg) but definitely further than I should have ran.
With Branson, 7:32 pace. This run was alright, it wasn't overly difficult but it felt hard to get into a rythmn and my breathing felt off today. 8 min of core afterwards.
Ran solo today, 7:08 pace, this one at least felt better than yesterday did, but my breathing still felt a little off. The last 2 working nights I have done the dishes there and I think some of the strong chemicals have been affecting my throat and breathing a bit (I have asthma) so I will see if I can rearrange my duties at work.
Today didn't feel the best on my legs or lungs. I did some strides after to open up more and that felt good. Followed with 8 min of core. I did talk to my boss so the dishes shouldn't be a problem anymore. 7:02 pace avg
With some of the MV guys, this one was slower but felt good. 7:39 pace avg.
With Branson, it felt a little pushed so I was surprised that our avg mile was only a 7:50. I have been feeling a bit off so I am going to the doctor on Monday.
No run today or Saturday. I have a sinus infection but got some medication for it so I should start feeling better in a few days.
With Branson and Braden. 8:04 pace, wasn't trying to push at all I just wanted to be moving, didn't feel too good.
With Braden. Average pace was a 7:42. Wasn't trying to push it at all. This run did feel better than yesterday which was a good sign.
7:19 avg pace, with some of the MV guys and Alex. The last half mile felt good to open up more. I am not feeling 100 percent but can tell I am feeling a little better each day. 8 min of core afterwards.
8:00 pace. Actually felt pretty relaxed.
This was with Braden and Asa. I did it wrong on my watch and cut it into two runs, so I think combined our average pace for the whole run was around 7:25-7:30 pace. Defnitely feeling better from last week.
With Kyler. 7:21 pace, last mile and a half was under 7 min pace and felt good to open up more.
8:27 average pace. I wasn't paying much attention to the pace, was just running with a heart rate monitor and wanted ot keep it around a 150. It felt very slow haha. I want to get a new watch with a heart rate monitor but I need to study more to find out what heart rates I want to be at for different types of runs.
7:37 pace. With Caleb and Brandon Garnica. Fun run talking with them and I felt good the whole way.
With Braden, 7:06 pace. Felt heavy at first but then we got in a rythmn
7:42 pace solo. Felt very relaxed and comfortable.
With Joe and his dad. 7:34 average pace, felt good. 8 min of abs after.
6:37 pace. The first mile was down a steep hill and when I got down I just kept my legs open. It wasn't overly fast though and it felt good to open it up more.
7:29 pace. Not overly easy but felt relaxed.
Slow but easy 4 miles. Felt good.
7:34 average mile. Ran with Braden. This run felt very hard for whatever reason, I just felt off and not too full of energy and it felt tougher to breathe.
7:27 pace solo. Felt much better than yesterday.
Ran this one with Wyatt Evans at the Utah Lake shore trail. Avg mile was around a 7:30 but I forgot my watch. Felt very good though.
With Jarron. 7:26 pace felt nice and controlled
Little longer route than I thought. With Braden, 6:57 pace.
Nice and easy, 7:44 pace.
7:34 pace with Branson, felt good.
Solo run early in the morning. My average mile was a 7:40, I felt like I was moving well though so maybe I'm just a little tired from the past few days.
On the Arizona Canal with Ethan. 7:34 pace, felt smooth but a little hard becuase of the heat. 7:34 pace.
in Scottsdale, this one was by myself, it felt a little hot but otherwise good. I felt like I was pretty hydrated beforehand so it was fine. 7:10 pace.
This was in Scottsdale, just a slow easy run.
With Easton, and Jackson. 7:06 pace but felt smooth.
The mileage is a estimate, we went out 27 minutes and back in 25ishso it was about a 52 min run, but guessing on the pace I think we were around 7:20 mile pace? I forgot my watch, so it was definitely a 'feel good' run.
7:13 pace, this run felt great until the last 2 miles were pretty hard, I slowed it down the last mile because I think I got out of the 'feel good' zone. Overall it was a good run though.
7:50 pace, my legs felt a little heavy from last week so I took this run slow and easy. Felt good.
7:31 pace, with Wyatt, Braden, and Justin in Spanish Fork. We ran on the path down on the golf course. Our splits were all over the place but it felt good and was a fun run.
7:19 pace, today I felt really good.
7:24 mile pace, didn't feel great today but that's alright, with Spencer.
Foothill Friday with the Mountain View guys. Probably around a 7:25-7:30 average.
7:10 pace. Today I felt surprisingly good! Lungs and legs felt smooth
With Justin and Braden. Today felt good. For the last mile we did 8x150 m strides just to open up which felt really good as well. I'm starting to feel stronger and breathing easier on these runs and today I felt a lot like myself! Average mile was 7:10-7:15ish, I didn't bring my watch so I had to ask Justin.
With Isaiah and Justin in the evening on the Provo River trail. My legs felt tired today from Monday and because we had been playing soccer for a while before the run. 7:36 pace though, I was pretty focused on trying to stay relaxed as I could and running efficiently/smooth.
With Braden, didn't bring my watch but our average mile was around a 7:40. Body and legs felt sore from yesterday so it was hard to open up my stride. I rolled out my legs after the run though.
With Justin on the Provo River trail. 3 miles up 4 miles down.
First 6 miles were slow on a dirt trail. Then we got on to the Provo River Trail for the last 3 miles on the way back. They did a tempo so I hopped in, and was with the second group, we were hitting 5:45s average. My legs have definitely felt sore this week from increasing the mileage so I was happy with it.
Very relaxed 7:35 pace with Spencer, Braden, Jared. Carterville. My legs felt pretty sore on Tuesday-Thursday this week but after today are not feeling too bad.
With Justin, 7:17 pace. Calves were sore but besides that the legs were fine. I thought we were going faster than we were but it wasn't too bad.
7:14 average. Today felt difficult. With Braden.
With Jared. Guessing on the mileage since neither of us had a watch. Started by the cemetery and went up past the water towers on the trial. I felt very strong today
7:10 mile avg, with Braden and Justin. Today I felt really good and strong on the run.
With the mv guys, slow but good for me.
Up 800 south past timpview and down center, with Isaiah and Jared. Today I felt surprisingly good. Most of my runs this week have felt a little hard/heavy the first mile or two but once I get in a rhythm it feels good. Legs are sore but not overly so, last week I was feeling it more than I am now. Avg mile was a 6:55, probably a bit fast but I felt good today.
One last run with Wyatt before he headed back out. 7:36 average pace, didn't feel great but didn't feel too bad.
With MV boys, they did a tempo again and I jumped in. It was 3 sets of 7 min tempo with 2 minute rest in between, the first one was 5;35 mile pace, 2nd was 5:23 mile pace, 3rd was 5:25 mile pace. Faster than I thought I would be able to go. Need to be more careful in the future so I'm not jumping in workouts but just running steady.
Legs were heavy so went with Branson, 7:58 average pace and it was very nice haha.
Carterville. Didn't bring my watch because I wanted to be sure it was a feel good run. Guessing the pace was around a 7:30 or a 7:40 but could've been slower. Last mile I opened up a little more.
It was all I could do to go 6 today. Our family was in Moab and I had biked 12 that morning on one of the trails. Legs feeling tired
I was just feeling worn out from this week. So I went a slow 8. I only ended up hitting 46 this week but I had also biked twice this week and been on my feet a lot.
Down to the trail by Utah Lake and back. Did some strides in the middle, today felt better than lots of last week did. Need to recover better this week especially sleep better.
Today's was with Branson, around 7:30-7:40 pace. Good run
6:55 pace. Included some strides in the middle. Today felt good
With Spencer down to the lake, 7:35 pace. Would've guessed it was faster given the effort but it was still good
With Branson, very slow around 8:15 pace. Kept this run short to be sure I could get in 10 or 11miles for the long run and hit 50 this week.
Up the hill by timpview with Braden. Today was slower. Around 7:30 pace, but my legs actually felt pretty good today
With the MV guys and Justin. Felt slow but average mile was actually a 7:30 which was faster than I would have guessed.
With Jared on Carterville, I got a new Garmin that has my heart rate too. 158 avg bpm today, 7:05 avg mile
7:33 pace , 145 avg bpm. This was with Branson, I did 6 strides in the middle of it.
With Braden, 7:19 average pace but the first 2 miles were very slow. 160 avg bpm.
8:02 pace, 145 bpm. This run was a little later so it was hot but it felt very relaxed.
With Braden, 8:02 pace. It was a trail run up by the water tower, we did a loop and it was really tough. First 4 miles were very uphill, and the next 4 were downhill but it was pretty steep and rocky so I couldn't really open up. 160 avg hr but honestly today was a pretty tough run. The loop was longer than I thought it would be
On the provo river trail. 7:08 avg pace, the first 5 miles were steady, did a few strides in the middle and the opened up a little on the way down. 166 avg hr. My legs aren't feeling overly sore or heavy but overall my energy is still a bit low from after last week.
With Jared Spencer and Trent on the Murdock trail. My legs were feeling pretty tired from yesterday and the first mile was pretty rough haha. But overall it actually felt pretty good. 7:11 pace, 146 avg hr.
By myself, at around 11 am. I didn't bring my watch on this one, guessing the pace was around a 7:30 pace.
6:54 pace, 163 avg hr. Today was hard, ran with the UVU guys and it was at 9 am so it got hot.
With Braden, this was definitely a tough it out run. The legs weren't super heavy but my energy was depleted from this week. My average pace was a 7:26 and it actually said my avg hr was a 139 not sure if that's right but unlike most of my runs this week I did this one early in the morning so it wasn't hot at all.
7:22 pace with Jared. Today I didn't feel great my legs were fine but my breathing was off. 162 avg hr
7:18 pace, 164 bpm avg, today felt pretty similar to yesterday
7:03 average pace, the first 3 miles were 7:40s and then I opened it up a little. I felt like I could breathe a lot better today and felt strong. 156 avg hr
7:46 pace 133 avg hr felt nice and easy
2 mile warm up and 4.5 mile cool down. my legs felt great before the race. My splits were 5:30, 5:34, 5:33, 5:36, 6:08, 6:01. Felt good through the first 2 miles but the hardest part of this race was just that I hadn't raced in so long it was hard for me to understand how I should be feeling at certain parts of the race, I thought I was pacing it well but once I hit 4 miles it got real tough. I'm happy with it though, at least I did beat my time from when I ran this the summer before my senior year.
Really slow today. This run actually made me feel a little better about yesterday because my legs were so tired and sore so I know I gave a great effort. Feeling more excited and more motivated
With the MV boys. Not sure what the pace was, but I felt good. (I forgot my watch on this one)
Branson biked with me for this one. 7:28 avg mile, says my avg hr was 109 so it was probably off. Felt good. Biked 4 miles later this day on the trails.
With the Timpanogos team. 6:55 avg mile, 167 avg hr. I felt strong today.
6:57 pace, Branson biked with me and we listened to some good talks. Today felt good.
First 4.5 were with Spencer and Trent, last 3.2 was on my own. Legs felt not sore, but tired, from yesterday's run.
With Braden. 7:03 pace we were moving steady!
7:44 pace, nice and easy, and I was listening to a good book haha.
7:04 average mile. My 5th mile was the hard one. I went 4:51. This was on the provo river trail on the way back down so it was a little downhill but I was pretty happy I was able to go that fast, the first .6ish I was trying really hard to just stay relaxed and I felt really good and I definitely picked it up the last little bit of that mile.
With the boy Justin. Today was good I felt like my effort was a little much for the pace we hit (I think around a 7:15 average) but not a bad run.
Nice and easy. No watch today but the pace was slower.
7:11 pace, today was great!
I didn't bring my watch today, not sure on the pace but I would guess around 6:50 or 7:00 average. I felt good today.
I did a 5 mile loop with Spencer and Trent. Guessing our average mile was around a 7:00. Then they had to go so I did the same loop again. Guessing my average mile on that was around a 6:45. I felt gelt good and I loved the run today.
Down on the trail by Utah Lake. 3 miles, then my 2 mile pick up which was a 10:43 (5:22, 5:23). I was hoping it would be a lot faster, the effort was there but I just didn't feel like I could lock in to a higher gear. A little frustrating but it was okay. It made it a little harder that it was by myself though. The miles after that which were slower.
Around a 7:20 pace. Felt good and I wasn't pushing I was relaxed.
7:14 pace which was good because I felt pretty relaxed. 153 avg hr
7:35 pace with Jared. Today I felt a little tired.
With Trent and Braden. 7:07 average mile and today I actually felt really good so I was pretty happy with it. My watch said my average heart rate was a 143. It was also pretty early though so the sun wasn't working on us.
I didn't bring my watch I just mapped it out. Today was definitely a feel good run.
7:16 pace with Branson. Avg hr was 155
In Logan with Carson, 7:27 pace but I forgot to stop my watch at one point so I think it was a little faster than that. 153 avg hr.
146 avg hr, 7:02 pace. I felt good today but I made sure not to open it up because of tomorrow.
An out and back on the Murdock trail with Braden. 2 mile warm up (7:11 pace) , 4 mile push, avg mile was a 5:33. I think my splits were 5:36, 5:27, 5:34, 5:36. The last mile was really tough but I felt happy with it because I stayed locked in. 6 mile "cool down" at around a 7:43 pace.
With Branson. Very slow but it felt good I was a little tired from yesterday's effort.
Up in Logan, 7:35 pace I just ran to one of the canyons and did an out an back.
7:42 pace I felt tired today.
7:00 pace and I felt good. With Justin.
7:08 pace. It was hot today this run was at 11 am, 153 avg hr
Last run in Orem. With Justin, 6:59 pace! Felt strong today
In Mantua with the team. 12 miles, 6:30 avg pace. 164 avg hr. The last few miles were low 6s and the 11th dipped to a 5:57. I was actually feeling pretty strong most of this run until around 10.5, then I hit a wall and the last bit was tough.
7:14 pace by myself. I felt relaxed today and made a point to stay relaxed and not pick up the pace later in the run.
7:01 pace felt controlled and strong for the most part
This run was bad. I felt fine before the run but as soon as it started I could tell something was up with my stomach. I felt like I fatigued pretty easily too and by 4 miles I was feeling really out of it. I turned around at 4 and the way back was really slow. I got back feeling pretty dehydrated and drank a lot of water but I didn't quite space it out enough and I felt pretty off the rest of the day.
I left my watch in Justin's car so I mapped it out afterwards as best as I could. I warmed up for the workout with the team and ended up just running the warm up loop 3 more times, then ran back to my apartment from there after I got tested. I felt good the first 3 miles and then felt like I was fatiguing more easily and took it slow.
Today I felt worse than yesterday, and I couldn't sleep at all on Friday night, I probably got 2 or 3 hours even though I was trying. I texted Paul to keep him updated and ended up not running because my body just wasn't there.
7:19 mile pace avg. Forgot my watch but it was with Justin.
7:27 pace. Today felt fine. avg hr 159. I did hit a wall today at about 2 pm. I feel like I feel pretty back to normal on the runs but when I'm done running I realize it may have taken a little more out of me than I expected it to
7:43 average mile. Not sure if the heart rate is right because it says 169 avg but I wasn't pushing the pace at all. Very relaxed.
7:02 pace, my watch says my hr was 152. It felt fine. Not great but not bad either.
7:21 pace, 155 hr. Today felt fine as well. Similar to yesterday in that I didn't feel crazy good but didn't feel bad either.
Saturday workout. Mile splits were 5:12, 5:10, 5:33 and then ended at 3.6ish miles. Honestly the first mile I felt great. It started hurting gradually more throughout the second mile and by the 2 mile mark I was feeling it pretty good. I feel like my endurance is there but my strength isn't.I think it will come with more workouts. It did feel good to open up and now I can focus on small improvements every day/week. Today was very motivating for me.
I will start putting my heart rate on in the morning on next weeks logs.
Today was another rough afternoon run. My stomach was feeling off and I could tell as soon as we started moving on the warm up exercises. I just felt pretty out of it and low on energy on the run and around 7 miles it was just trying to hang on and finish. Today honestly felt like a workout mentally wise in terms of staying in the moment. I definitely need to fuel differently because something's not working. 7:29 pace, 161 avg hr.
Resting HR monday morning: 56
Morning workout. 2 mile warm up. Stomach was great! It was hills so I was happy for it. As weird as it sounds today was easier than yesterday. I felt less tired after today than I did yesterday. I know it wasn't anything crazy fast but it felt great to hang with all the guys on the team today in a faster effort and it got me excited. Cooled down until I hit 10.
Rep 1: .48 miles 2:37 split (5:29 pace)
Rep 2: .13 miles :44 split (5:43 pace)
Rep 3: .47 miles 2:37 split (5:33 pace)
Rep 4: .47 miles 2:37 split (5:34 pace)
Rep 5: .12 miles :41 split (5:43 pace)
Rep 6: .47 miles 2:31 split (5:23 pace)
Rep 7: .27 miles 1:29 split (5:33 pace)
Morning HR: I forgot!
7:23 pace, today was another tough afternoon run. I start of feeling fine and my stomach starts hurting more as the run goes on and the last few miles get real hard. I am meeting with Natalie (the nutritionist at USU) on Friday so hopefully that will help.
The first 5 or 6 miles today I actually felt a lot like my normal self. After that it got a little tough again but I think it was a good sign. I tried eating more before the run today and that was a good move.
Workout at Mantua. My first mile was a 4:49 and it basically crashed a little after that. Today was honestly pretty discouraging. My summer 10k was a lot better than that and I know I am more fit now than I was then. I just feel like there are a few things that are off and I haven't fully felt like myself lately. The meeting with Natalie was good today and I learned some things from that that should help.
7:10 pace. My legs were tired but they could still open up. Today my stomach felt a little off again but nothing big because it was in the morning.
Forgot my watch so not sure on the pace, but I felt actually pretty good during this afternoon run. The last mile or two got hard but comparatively, much better than the last weeks runs have been.
2:48, 2:59, 3:00, (rest rep), 3:02, 2:58, 3:01, 2:59. This was definitely the best workout I have strung together since I've been home. I just hopped into the front because I felt more energy being up there and tried to really stay in the moment. The last 2 reps they all picked it up to like 2;50-2:45ish and I couldn't hang at all but I am glad my splits didn't blow up at the end! Some of these runs have been frustrating with how I"m feeling but today I felt very good and it was a good gift from God!
I think like 8:01 pace, my legs were very tired from yesterday.
7:22 pace. I felt good, the run was a little hard but it was only hard because I was tired (not because I was feeling off)
2k repeats!6;16, 6:27, 6:21, 6:42 (I came through the mile mark at 5:10 but came undone), thne 2:25 split for my 800m last rep.
Today was tough! I didn't feel as good energy wise but my stomach was good and I felt like I stayed in the moment and hung on as long and as best as I could! This week has been far more encouraging than the last few weeks and I feel like I got 1 percent better today.
No idea on the pace because my watch died. Guessing around a 7:30 or 7:40. My legs are tired!
Today felt good. The afternoon runs are getting better, I'm feeling a lot more like myself on them for the most part.
The workout felt good. Honestly it was too short and too much recovery to really start to feel winded. But next time there is a workout like that I will try to run it like it is a pace I am holding for a whole race rather than just "getting through the rep."
2;25, 2:24, 2:26, 2:25, 2:27, 2:24
7:57 pace. My legs were actually pretty sore today and I was surprised because yesterday didn't feel very hard. I did an ice bath which was good.
Real slow. But my legs felt really good.
||CSI invite (4.3 Miles) 00:23:30|
It was a little tricky trying to fuel right because the race started so late but I think I fueled well. I actually had a great start and got in great position. We went out in a 4:45 and honestly I wish I didn't hear them calling that split because my first thought after that was that it was gonna be real hard not to fall off. I felt good a mile in, but around a mile and a half I think i started to fall off the front group. I tried going with Ethan for a little and he dropped me too. Honestly after that I feel like I got stuck at around an 80 percent effort. I didn't give up, but I had an extra gear I just didn't drive into. I'm a little disappointed about that. I feel like I'm in better shape than my time showed today. But I will just have to be better in workouts about holding on for longer and longer, and also having secondary goals that keep me locked in and giving my very best when and if I do fall off. I need to want it more. I see how bad Justin Hartshorn hurt after today and it showed me that even though I was hurting at the end of the race, there's more pain that can be endured than I did today. So I wasn't happy with today but it was a good learning experience for me that will help me run faster in the future.
7:09 pace. Today my legs felt tired but they weren't overly tired.
800 splits: 2:31, 2:18, 2:23, 2:20, 2:22
Hill splits: 1:30, 1:25
2 mile warm up and cool down. My stomach was feeling pretty weird last night but it didn't affect me at all on the workout today which was good. I was happy with my effort and especially glad I forced myself up front on the hills so I wouldn't fall off.
Today didn't feel very great, I just felt very tired.
Felt better than yesterday! Not sure on the pace.
Mile repeats: 4:50, 4:54
1k repeats: 3:08 (I accidentally went a little far on this rep), 2:53, 2:54.
Today was a little frustrating. Honestly my legs felt great and fast! But my breathing wasn't good. I just felt like I ran out of breath really quickly and it was really hard for me to stay locked in because of it. I tried focusing on my arms to shift my attention away from my lungs.
7:16 pace. 174 avg hr. I was pretty tired from yesterday and didn't get as much sleep as I should have last night. I want to do a better job of getting good sleep and recovery in. I also want to improve my mental game. I wonder if me worrying about getting through a workoout actually shortens my breath more and makes it harder. I feel like I have greatness within me, I just need to figure out how to find it and use it more during workouts and races!
Today didn't feel good at all, my stomach was feeling pretty bad and I felt like I couldn't find a good rythmn for my breathing today.
Morning HR: 54
Today's workout didn't feel great. My legs felt pretty sluggish today but it was fine, I was able to stay with it and I did try to stay as relaxed as I could.
600 splits; 1:53, 1:50, 1:53, 1:48, 1;47, 1:50.
Morning HR: 56
Morning run in the rain, I was a little tired but my legs felt good. Braething felt better today.
Morning HR: 59
Today felt so good! My energy was great and I was really happy about it. I wrote down all the foods I ate today so that I can hopefully start to see some patterns on days I feel great and know what I can keep doing.
Morning HR: 55
Today I didn't feel great but it was a good to to not feel good cause it was a shorter run.
Morning HR: 56
The race was good! 15:35 5k. The pack went through the 2 mile at a 9:25. I had fallen off a little on lap 7 so I was probably more like 9:30-9:35ish through two miles. My high school 2 mile pr is 9:27 so that was good. The last mile was really tough. I wish my legs and energy felt a little better today but I was very happy with my mental game today. Around 3 laps in it was already starting to burn and I felt like I did a good job of cutting it into shorter pieces and staying in the moment and forcing myself to hang on and just be fine with it hurting a lot. I do wish I was a little more committed on staying with Justin the last few laps but I did try my very best to stay mentally checked in and go as fast as I could.
Around a 7 mile cool down and I was pretty tired but it was good to do a good distance run while I was feeling pretty fatigued. I felt like that was good for building up my strength.
Morning HR: 58
My legs were tired but they honestly felt better after the run than before and I got a good stretch in.
Morning HR: 47
8x600s. My legs were tired but I was happy with the workout today. I did a good job of staying in the moment, and expecting it to hurt a lot and being fine with it. Today was confidence building that my fitness is getting better and that I am faster than I think I am as long as I am willing to be tough.
Splits: 1:52, 1:52, 1:46, 1:45, 1:42, 1:42, 1:41, 1:39
Morning HR: 51
Legs felt good except for the calves. My achilles on my left foot starting bothering me a little bit on the last few miles though.
Morning HR: 52
Early morning run with Cameron, Brennan, and Justin because I drove down to see my sister run at State. Today I was tired. But the pace was slow so it was fine. Calves are really sore but besides that my legs are feeling mostly recovered from the 5k effort last Saturday.
Morning HR: 54
2 mile tempo in 10:13 (5:06, 5:07).
Half mile hill rep splits: 2:16, 2:24, 2:25, 2:21, 2:25.
Honestly today I felt like my mental game was strong but for whatever reason I felt like my body didn't have as much to give as I hoped. The tempo left me feeling more tired than I thought I should have and so the hill reps were rough! The 3rd rep I fell off really bad from the leaders. I sat out then ext one then came back in and fell of a little at the end of the 4th rep. The 5th rep hurt really bad but I found it in me to not fall off.
I felt like my lungs weren't super strong today. On the downhills I couldn't breathe at all but I didn't have enough energy to put in the effort to slow down. I actually was happy with my mental game but today is another reminder to be more diligent on the little things so I can get myself in better shape physically. Today was the hardest workout for me since school statrted.
Legs were tired but the pace was more relaxed. I felt happy with the run and am excited to have a day off and rest my legs!
Morning HR: 60
No watch but it was a feel good run.
Morning HR: 52
1k repeats. I didn't feel great today and I was a little frustrated about it.
Splits: 3:09, 3:08, 3:02, 1:52 (600m this rep), 3:02
I actually felt terrible today! I just wasn't hydrated and it was a good reminder I need to stay more on top of my nutrition. Legs felt good though. More of just an energy issue today.
Morning HR: 50
Feel good run.
Morning HR: 54
7k race in 22:26 (5:10 mile pace), no idea on the splits.
The first mile I felt relaxed and I think around the mile mark the front group got a little on me and Mark and Justin. I was okay with it because I knew Mark and Justin would help push me, and I felt like I was still in a good spot. Kept our eyes on Bridger, I thought he was gonna come back to us for a minute there. Looking back I wish I had surged to get up to him. On the 2nd uphill part it hurt alot. There were a few times I wanted to fall off during the 2nd half of the race and I surged when I felt that to keep myself locked in. Honestly I kind of just let Mark and Justin go with 1k or 1.5 k left. I was happy with today but not super happy. Honestly I think if I wanted it enough I could have stayed with Mark and Justin the whole way.
This race was a lot better than CSI so that was good. I feel like my mental game from then to now is night and day difference.
But I still feel like I overthink races and can get more out of myself even when it hurts really bad.I just need to want it more. I need to do a better job at making more surges and doing them at the right times. I have it in me, sometimes I just decide it hurts too much. I'm happy to have a week off, more for the mental aspect than the physical part of it. I want to be top 7 but I know I am going to have to do some things differently to get there.
Morning HR: 58
With the team. It was cold but it was fine.
Morning by myself. I felt fine. Not overly good but not bad.
I didn't bring a watch. I didn't feel so good, but it wasn't a physical tired. My stomach was just feeling off today.
I felt great. It was also super short
With Justin. I also felt great today.
Calves a little tight but I stretched them out after.
Little slower but a nice feel good run.
With Justin, no watch but a nice feel good run!
With Isaiah. Great feel good run! No watch.
Not sure on pace. Felt great with Brennan, we ran Carterville. I need to have better sleep habits but I am happy with how my body has felt this week on the runs. I feel like any lingering effects of being sick haven't been there at all this week.
I felt good on this run as well. Early morning and legs were good.
Thighs were sore today. But a good run. I never bring my watch on distance runs anymore and its getting very easy to to just stay in the moment which I think is helping my mental game.
I was planning on going 10 but my stomach was hurting pretty bad this whole run. I'm not really sure why but I need to go back and read my food logs to see what has worked in the past and make sure I'm still following it.
Today was tough. It wasn't the pace, but it was the second day that my stomach was really bothering me. The first 2 miles were really hard and in the middle it subsided a little. It was still there but not as bad. Then the last 2 got really hard again and I was really glad when I was done. I think I am not eating enough or drinking enough right now. I need to bump that back up as my mileage is going back up. This reminds me of the runs at the beginning of this semester where I was feeling off, and I think the answer is just better nutrition. My thighs were also pretty sore today but I'm not worried about that it's just my first week back up. I'm rolling them out as well.
The last 2 or 3 miles were quicker but it felt good. Today's run was a good reminder that I am in good shape and I just need to make sure I am eating and drinking right so my stomach and energy is feeling good when it's time to run. My thighs were pretty sore again today but I rolled them out good after the run. As of Sunday as I am typing this they feel pretty good and I think my legs are just reaccustoming themselves to the 60 mile weeks.
The legs felt great today after a day off. Days like today are just a reminder I'm in good shape. My breathing has been great the last few runs as well which is encouraging.
My thighs were sore from yesterday. The runs aren't too hard but my legs still find a way to be sore after them. I need to start using the normatec again because that helped a lot when I was using it.
Today I felt a litlte bit tired but it was still good.
Today I ran by myself because I had a zoom study review at 4. I felt good and strong today.
Stomach was bugging today but legs were fine.
Legs were pretty tired at the end of this one though I didn't feel it was too fast.
I felt good. I have had a hard time sleeping the last few nights but my energy seems to be there during the runs so that's good. Used the Normatec after which was good as well.
No watch, I had used the normatec yesterday and my legs felt like they had some bounce to them today which felt nice.
With Justin, breathing felt a little less good today but nothing crazy bad. It has felt a lot stronger overall since I started my buildup so it was honestly just a reminder of how I am getting stronger.
With Isaiah, we started in the canyon and ran to his house on the Provo river trail. I haven't slept good lately but my body is surprisingly still responding well, but I need to get it figured out.
4 mile warm up to Timpview.
5:01 and 4:58 for the 2 1 mile pushes, I ran a half mile in between them.
5.5 mile cool down for 12 total.
Very slow today but it felt good
With the Mv boys and I felt good!
Very slow, I wanted to make sure I didn't get tired at all. Avg mile was right around 8 mins. We'll see how my body responds tomorrow.
I went really slow again today, today I felt a little worse than yesterday honestly as a whole.
