| | Did three loops of liberty park. Started out easy until I started using a rollerskater to pace myself. She said "I can't believe anyone can actually run that fast", I shrugged and said she was a good pacemaker. Then some guy started running behind me and kept up with me for about 800meters before giving up. When I got home I realized I'd averaged around 6flat pace for my "easy" run. So I'm an idiot, I don't care. Maybe I'm just that fast. |

| | Did 10.6 in the morning and a glorious 5 in the afternoon. It was glorious because I think I may be finally over my depression, I just had a massive weight off of my shoulders today and I feel like I can go on with me life. |

Ran up city creek and back. Didn't choose the right shirt and got a little cold so I decided to crush it on the way back. I didn't time it, but we're looking at sub 6 pace for the second half of the run. Rain makes me faster, for some reason. Didn't feel even remotely tired at the end of the 19 miler. What!? Really? Yes that just happened. |

Did 11.5 miles in the morning was planning on doing a workout in the morning but my legs were a little heavy.
Did 5.5 in the afternoon with a 4.5 mile tempo, three loops of Liberty Park. Did it in 25:23 (5:38 pace) for a new best on the course by 37 seconds. Splits were 8:14,8:46,8:23. I went out a little fast and recorded my fastest ever lap (8:14) but I couldn't maintain the pace and went into oxygen debt. I slowed down for a couple hundred meters before picking it back up again. Next time I do this, I want to do it in sub 25. |

For some strange reason I felt a little sluggish today (see ridiculous last two days). It was a good day, I heard from a reliable source that the bird is the word (pshaw, everbodies heard that the bird is the word). Did 9.5 in the morning. The guys doing construction on the shoreline trail were a little annoyed at me. I mean what do you expect when you put a fence on my trail? That I choose a different run? No, I'm climbing over it. Anyway, there were pretty insistent that I don't do it again.
After lab-class-journal club-lab, I ran home 5 miles, again kind of sluggish but I was wearing a backpack. |

| | Ran an easy run with Katie and her friend Hannah along Lake Mendoda to picnic point at 8 minute pace. My legs felt pretty tired from everything that they have to be tired from plus sitting for a long time (I flew to Madison) doesn't agree with me at all. |

Madison Literacy Run (6.2 Miles) 00:34:01, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | |
I can't believe I won! Last year at this race, this one guy took off and I thought he was running the 5K, but he didn't turn around and he was way ahead of my even as I went through 2 miles in 10:50. He hung on to run 33 high in really hot conditions (I ran 36:45 but still held on for second).
So this year at the start, I see the same guy and get a little worried. We start out with the 5K guys so there's alot of mad dashers and he goes with the fastest of them and I get dropped. I catch the lead pack of four as we hit the mile in 5:17. I immediately take the lead. Everybody but me and him turn around at 2.5K and I'm still in the lead. I don't feel very good, but he seems to be struggling with my pace so I keep it hard. Right before 5K, there's pretty tough hill and he immediately drops back as we climb it. When I see this i throw in a big surge (I hit 5K in 16:35).
Unfortunately, now it's starting to get hot I'm out on my own and I don't want to look back. I really struggle, still hitting 28:17 at 5.1 miles. So I still managed 5:34/mile from 3-5 miles. Then the last mile was in about 5:43 but at that point I was ducking around people and there was a little up hill.
Later in the afternoon I played some Ultimate frisbee which involved alot of running. |

| | Last day in Madison, so I thought I'd see pretty much everything. I ran around Lake Monona (that's the smaller one) then I broke off and ran to the Arboretum and ran around that before heading back to Katie's house. I had 2:16:49 (6:50 pace) on my watch but I think I didn't start for a few minutes in there so the true time was probably arond 2:23-2:25. |

| | Didn't really feel that good, felt like I was going kind of slow, but apparently it was about 7:10 pace which is might actually be slow for me (I need to time more runs, I guess). Anyway today marks the start of the first week of my half marathon speed trainiing phase. |

| | Ran to the Jordan river trail and did 2*5K with about 1 mile of jogging in between. First 5k in 16:44 second one was 16:58. I needed to go to the bathroom for the second one and it slowed me down a little. I felt really good and could have done the whole workout all over again. I did it on an out and back and I think the way back might be slightly uphill. Two weeks ago I only did one, it was very tough and I ran17:16. |

| | Ran to 2700S coming back along Foothill, to the Shoreline trail to Red Butte Gardens, through Research Park to Sunnyside then around Liberty Park. Felt better at the end of the run than at the beginning, 7:10 pace overall, aroubd 6:50 pace for the non-mountain sections. |

| | Did a hard 10 (actually 9.7) starting from the university. I believe this was the fastest I've ever done this route (57:07). I hit 3 miles in 16:55 (5:38 pace, down hill). I then did the next 1.85 miles in 11:20 (6:07) but that was up a hill. Then I did the next 2.9 in 17:59 (6:12 pace) and this was still going uphill. Finally, the last 1.95 was in 10:51 (5:33 pace, downhill). So the average was 5:53 for the whole thing. |

| | Ran 5.5 in the morning. Then ran 5 in the evening. Not ideal but it's the day before a race and my schedule kind of dictates it. Besides, I'm beginning to think that if you're training for 5-10K, then two 5-7 mile runs in one day is beneficial as you can keep the pace up without trashing yourself. |
