Basically rolled out of bed and ran this race in my backyard (Liberty Park). I won pretty easily by about 2 mins. The course was clearly long and it turned out that I was going more like 16:40 pace. I got a sweet trophy though.
In the afternoon and ran to Sugarhouse and did two loops hard. (I felt like, I hadn't run hard enough in the morning). I went 10:44,11:00 to give me my first ever sub 22min clocking. Next time: three loops in under 33mins! |

| | Four loops of Sugarhouse. I started out really slow, and picked it up to regular long run pace (7:30 per mile). Nothing special today. |

| | I really should have timed this run. It was meant to be a recovery but I felt good so I decided to go with it (this is pretty much the extent of my training plan, run slow if you're tired, run fast if you're not, it seems to be working pretty well :) ). Anyway i was simply gliding around Liberty Park and not breathing hard at all. I think I have my "SLC lungs" back which happened about a month before I expected. |

I was kind of pushed for time this morning so I only did 4 (I barely made it to class and I'm the teacher!!!)
After work I did my trusty old 9.7 mile loop from school.
Phase 1: 3.0 miles downhill from the math dept to Sugarhouse. My time,15:54, a ridiculous pace of 5:18 per mile, I was moving.
Phase 2: 1.85 miles from Sugarhouse to the corner of 2000E and 2700S. This starts out flat, but climbs steadily for the last mile, undoing all the downhill from phase 1. Time was 11:12 (6:03 per mile).
Phase 3: The Death segment. Just really nasty rolling hills taking you to the corner of foothill and sunnyside. Time was 17:44 (6:06 per mile)
Phase 4: Downhill through campus, 1.95 miles. Time was 10:42 (5:29 per mile).
Total was 55:36 (5:44 per mile) a new record! Yay workout PR!
According to the course tool this is course is equivalent to 10miles so that's a 55:36. |

I did 9.5 in the morning quite slowly. Then 4.5 in the evening. My hamstring was a little tight, but it loosened up. I shouldn't be surprised considering it mainly objects to long hard efforts which is what I did yesterday, but I should try to get it as healthy as possible in time for the half...or at least figure out how to have it hamper me the least.
Also, I registered for two races today.
1. I signed up for Boston 2010!
2. I finally signed up for the Seattle Half marathon this year. Exciting!
After running I went to the field house and did some lifting and core work. I also ran on the track a little with one of my roommates. It's fun to watch him improve. He calls me "coach" when we go workout together. |

| | I did 4 in the morning and then ran up and down Mt Wire in the evening. I ate it badly on the way down but I ended up running down really fast anyhow. It was cold but I went shirtless anyway. When I got to the top I looked down and saw some people heavily wrapped up coming up the other side. I waved to them and they looked pretty shocked to see me 500ft above them half naked. |

I did 6.5 miles in my lightweight trainers this morning. In the afternoon I went to the gym and ran 4 miles hard on the track (finishing with a 5:10 mile). Then I ran with my roommates and lifted weights and junk.
Masaki did 10 |

I did 3 loops of sugarhouse in the morning.
In the afternoon I ran with the SLC track club. They were doing 200s, which is too short for me, so I did a ladder.
200-400-600-800-1000-800-600-400-200, with about 90seconds rest (while jogging 200).
Total time was 15:17 for 5k. (:32,1:07,1:50,2:32,3:18,2:32,1:48,1:09,:29)
Afterwards went to the gym
Masaki:10 laps again |

I did 10.1 miles in the morning in light weight trainers (6:50 avg). I really just did not feel good, I don't know if it was because of the trainers or not (I'm guessing not).
In the afternoon, I went to a realtor to put together an offer on a house. The bank is foreclosing on my landlord, I'm trying to buy to prevent myself from getting evicted. Somehow, I've mananged to put this together its been a lot of phone calls. My running has not suffered, but my poor blog has.
In the evening I did 4 miles. |

| | I had to run to school this morning, because I moved up my rest day to Monday. I wasn't feeling terrific in the afternoon but I decided to go ahead and bang out a hard 10miles, but I just promised not to kill myself. I ended up running a pretty good 57:20 (for a hilly 9.7 with a course length equivalent of 10.0). That's one of my better times and I was pretty steady throughout. My hamstring bothered me less than on the last one but I was running ten seconds a mile slower. I'm still pleased about it though. Splits (16:40 (5:33pace, downhill with wind),11:05(5:59 pace uphill, with wind),18:12(6:17 pace uphill against wind),11:13(5:45 pace, downhill against wind)

| | Went running in the mountains at night for the second day in a row (not smart). I actually really freaked myself out running down dry creek at the end. I kept thinking that I saw people standing in the trail and then it would turn out to be just a tree. I tried to run fast at the end to get out, but the footing limited me. If I hadn't run this trail several dozen times it probably would have ended badly. |
