Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing. 

-Break stroller records? 

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older. 

 

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

Little over 10 miles. I'm feeling more comfortable running on pavement, but at the end of the day the tightness is still there. I'm planning on doing a light workout this week or maybe instead just upping my mileage to 70, since running slow doesn't seem to be a problem.

Good run. I'm not all the way better, but I felt strong doing 90 pounds on the eccentric drops on the calve press.

AM: My first morning run in a long time. It was dark outside and a really enjoyable experience. It's hard to describe, but I really liked it. 

PM: 10 miles on a nice rainy day. It's a miracle I made I through all this and then was able to do heel raises afterwards (90 pounds) and have it go fine!

15.3 miles up the canyon. I had wanted today to be really chill after a tough week. It was going alright for the first half. To be fair, I had left some room in my mind to run faster if I felt good. I did the first half in 48 minutes (6:16 pace). I probably sped up a bit when I wanted to "check my pace" once I got in the canyon. Soon after I turned around, I saw in the distance some long boarders I had passed on the way up. Most times, I quickly pass other runners. Fast bikers will pass me. But these guys were going the perfect pace that I was barely inching up on them as I ran. So I pursued them, ratcheting up the pace as much as I felt comfortable. I was even running with them for a few minutes before they finally took a different route around Tucano's. At that point, I slowed a tad but it was too late to go back to easy running. I kept telling myself just not to go to the well. I did feel pretty crappy afterwards but it was more I think a) my breakfast wanting to come up and b) me not being used to 15 miles right now. That was 42 minutes on the way back, or 5:29 pace. 5:53 pace overall.
