Short-Term Running Goals: -Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials Long-Term Running Goals: -Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.
-Break stroller records?
-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.
Personal: I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home. |

| | 6:51 pace, straight east on Como. Knee didn't feel good. The route I picked was pretty good as far as the snow was concerned.

| | 7:09 pace, afternoon run that went until it was getting dark outside on Mpls diag. In my ski glove I was carrying an engagement ring for an errand, something I have actually done previously.

| | Just under 7 minute pace on east river road. Dissapointed with how my knee felt and that I had to make a small modification to the route because of a new closure. There are a lot of those where I run and travel right now.

| | MapMyRun says this was 6:02 pace which doesn't seem to quite square with the mile splits I was getting. Anyway, I'm happy to have been able to run on the Gateway trail in December for the second year in a row. It snowed a tiny little bit almost a week ago but somehow there was still plenty of snow on most of the trail, which affected me to some degree but was not by any means a deal breaker.
Update: a few miles into this run, I hit 3000 miles on the year. That's not a ton by my standards but objectively speaking I should be grateful that this streak is now 6 years running.

| | I don't remember my pace. But boy, that was something. I maxed out my winter clothing and it still felt nauseatingly cold, especially running into the wind and occasional fluries. 5 degrees, feels like -12. Yikes.

| | 7 flat pace around Falcon Heights because I wanted to stop and see my family at the library. The sun set while I was running and it was cold, but not windy like yesterday so much better.

| | In complete darkness, starting after 5 pm, in 14 degree weather- there were plenty of reasons why this was going to be an unenjoyable run. A couple days with sub zero temps changes you though, and it didn't feel that bad. Running in the dark around Como lake was kind of cool, too. Surprisingly only 7:14 pace, though it felt much faster.

| | Today was a victory because my knee wasn't too bad even after having run just last night. Next, there was an advisory for freezing rain and sleet that started overnight, but I woke up to dry ground, and made it through the whole run fine (it started in the afternoon). It even felt quite warm, 21 degrees being the warmest it has been in several days, so I took off my fask mask and didn't have anything on my head for the whole run after the first mile. Quiet day on west river road down to the lower trails at Minnehaha.
Once again, more slow running though. 6:17 pace.

| | Just under 7 flat pace on a warm overcast afternoon. Knee felt better again. It could be my last time in months I can run East River flats so I took advantage of that.

| | 7:30 pace. Honestly, I was planning on slower than that. With how slow I've been running in Minneapolis for my knee, combined with the hills of Medford, I wasn't expecting much. Amazingly, I felt good once again despite having eaten like an hour before.

| | Super foggy morning outside. I got above it for a bit on my first run (7:37 pace) but then went down to Coal Mine to run with my wife (~10:00 pace) for the rest of it.
