Short-Term Running Goals: -Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials Long-Term Running Goals: -Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.
-Break stroller records?
-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.
Personal: I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home. |

| | 10 miles.
Didn't realize it initially, but as of today this is my highest mileage year ever. I'm not overly celebrating it because I haven't ever been injured this year. However, that in of itself is something to celebrate- that I haven't had a significant injury in this calendar year.

| | Coldest run ever, clocking in at 8 degrees or so and sunny with a windchill below -10. Didn't feel that bad except on my face. Facemask was not optional. Think I hurt my hernia lifting again.

| | 10 miles. Some snow on the ground but not enough yet to make my preferred route impassible.
*Map-adjusted 10.45 miles, about 6:45 pace.

| | How on earth I was cranking 6:48 miles in those conditions is a mystery to me. I really thought I was hitting 7:30s! Beautiful sunny day after the snow storm though. Diag was plowed which was nice.

| | 9 miles, we went pretty fast maybe cuz the roads were dry. Also 4 by 200 on the indoor track in 34, 32, 32, 32. For some reason I couldn't stop smiling and was almost laughing during that. I was so embaressed but the more I tried to stop the more I couldn't haha.

| | AM: misty, warm morning run reminded me of Medford. 5 miles.
PM: Didn't realize we were doing a sort of workout today. It could have been a lot worse- I ate too late even for a normal run, let alone a workout. And I had doubled. And I wasn't really ready for it. So I did 4 loops and stopped insted of doing five because my achilles tendon was sore.

| | 10 miles. Running out wasn't bad, running back into the wind and snow was far worse, but the worst of all was about the first 10 minutes after I got home, the thawing process was one of the most painful feelings I've had in a while. Ouch. Probably still wouldn't have gone back and run indoors if I could've, maybe just dressed warmer.

| | Another blanket of snow made things a little slower. Went out apparently in only 7:15s, came back in 6:34s which felt much faster than that. Dissapointing, hopefully will start feeling more springy soon.

| | AM: little workout, 20 minutes alternating crisp running with harder running. Did it by .5 miles for mile marker assistance. The first three segments were uphill, the last four were downhill, and the final segment was mostly uptempo with hard at the end. 2:42, 2:32, 2:57, 2:25, 2:50, 2:26, 2:44. Good to get this in.
PM: 4 miles and then met up with people for a walk.

| | AM: 10 miles. Started feeling some of the plantar fascia tenderness just like I did last year when I went from a flat place to a hilly one. Darn it.

| | Long run today since tomorrow is christmas. Been looking forward to letting loose a bit. Went easy on the three miles to start and finish but harder in the middle. Miles for that were: 5:44, 5:43, 5:45, 5:24, 5:27, 5:31, 5:36, 5:24, 5:05, 5:05. Obviously there are some hills in there. In the first three miles you gain 200 feet (opposite for the last three). Then you lose 130 over the next two miles. Had a weird thing happen at the end where I feel like as the ground dropped beneath me my feet were airborn for so long such that even with taking long strides, I literally couldn't go faster than 5:30 pace or so. So I was able to to do that by shortening my stride. Weird sensation.

| | AM: 12.25 miles. Beautiful cloudy day, but my favorite part was when the sun beamed through for a bit.
PM: 4 miles. Legs felt exceptionally stiff to begin that run. Idk if it was from my massage or what. Thankfully my plantar fascia and Achilles' tendons did less complaining, which is great.

| | 4 mile tempo run in the light rain. I have the half mile splits. The way back felt uphill but maybe I was just tired- 60 feet over two miles isn't extremely significant I think. 2:30, 2:28, 2:30, 2:29. 2:33, 2:37, 2:38, 2:31. (5:05 pace overall)

11.2 miles a day, discounting Sundays, every day of the year
<2:1- The ratio of miles I have driven the Accord since I bought it in 2018 to miles I have run
396: New Record high monthly mileage set in July (equivalent to 12.8 miles each day of the month, or 14.7 miles per day Monday through Saturday throughout the month)
~7 years: the amount of time it would take me to go around the circumference of the earth if I maintained the rate of running I did in 2021
4: calendar years in a row that I have run equal to or greater than the driving distance between Medford, OR and Leesburg, VA (~2700 miles)
$3.57- the price of the shoes alone to take you as far as one gallon of gasoline would in you car, assuming the car gets 25 miles per gallon, one pair of shoes cost $100, and each pair lasts for 700 miles
