Short-Term Running Goals: -Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials Long-Term Running Goals: -Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.
-Break stroller records?
-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.
Personal: I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home. |

| | Tired, but glad my knee felt good. I had to sacrifice skiing today and doing my run on RoxyAnn to take care of it, but you've gotta do what you gotta do.

| | Unfortunately I probably can't double today cuz I am traveling home this afternoon. My last run in Oregon was a 5 mile tempo by the church. 5:08 pace isn't too shabby actually since you are almost always running uphill or downhill. My goal had just been to go faster than a couple weeks ago.

| | AM: 4 miles.
PM: Workout. Relatively warm actually, like over 40 degrees. I'm surprised the snow hasn't melted yet in Mapleton. I did Mile-1200-800 times 2 with equal recovery. It was my first hard run back at altitude right after I had a cavity filled and I had already run this morning, so I didn't have high expectations other than staying healthy. I ran [4:43, 2:17 through 800, 2:19] and [4:43, 2:18 through 800, 2:18] on the bike path. It felt like it was supposed to feel.

| | 10 miles in the morning because I accidentally slept in long enough that it wasn't too cold outside when I went running. Because of my gastroc strain, I am calling off my afternoon run.

| | Ran nice and slow, and pretty long, which made it the longest time I've ever run. Hopefully my gastroc feels better by monday.

| | Came to practice late because I was standing in line to get my textbooks for so long... glad it worked out! Really my only goal was to stay healthy. I didn't have time to really do treatment before the workout. We'll see how things feel tomorrow, but as of the workout today I was really pleased, my calf didn't feel bad. I did do the 400 on the grass to be careful. I really kept it under control today and felt good that it was the easiest Michigan I feel like I've done. A little ice on the course and wearing trainers might have slowed it down a bit.

BYU Indoor Meet (1.864 Miles) 00:08:24, Place overall: 9 | | Well, that was that. I was going for 8:22.5 which is 67 second pace and on-track with the continued improvements I want to make, but I am happy to have gotten a PR (8:15 conversion I think). I wore Victory's for the first time. My calves hurt after the race! I don't think they are terribly different from the Matumbos though. I was a little nervous/sick beforehand but felt fine during the race. I have another health problem I will mention more next week when I figure out what it is next week, but thankfully that didn't bother me either during the race. Looking forward to doing a cross race at a longer distance.

| | 8 by k on a beautiful day at intramural. Just chilled in the pack, although I did speed up on the last one because I was feeling good. Eight just isn't that bad. (3:07, 3:05, 3:03, 3:03, 3:00, 3:03, 3:00, 2:56).
Also, I saw the doctor today. We are getting an MRI so no certainties yet but I thought it was a hernia and turns out if it is, it's small. Plus it felt better today. So that's good news!

PM: 10 miles. Beautiful weather. Felt a little tired and sore in my adductor at times, including strides. Gotta be conservative tomorrow.

| | 2 by 2 mile at Intramural field, but it was supposed to feel like we could do 3 reps. It was a good day to do a chill workout cuz I was just feeling pretty tired and trashy today. So I just fell in with the group and didn't ever "pull the trigger", just ran. So I could have done one more for sure but today wouldn't have been a good day for a race. I ran 10:08 and 10:00ish but that doesn't really mean much cuz the measuring wasn't official at all.

| | Lazy Friday has gone too far- I was part way into my run when I realized I was also unintentionally skipping class. Oops. I had also scheduled my MRI later in the day with the plan to go shopping afterwards, which would have meant skipping my other class! Just cuz I don't have to be in school in person today doesn't mean I don't have to be in school! Oh well. I ran home and made it in time for the second half of Stats, then I did the last four miles.

| | I'll admit that the past 24 hours have not been my favorite ones of all time. After thinking I had a hernia, I started feeling better and the doc even said he didn't feel a big lump. My hopes came crashing down unexpectedly last night when I got a text from my trainer that my MRI indicated I have a pubic bone injury.
Ouch.
Well, such is life, even when you're a senior in the best shape of your life. I haven't had a meeting with the doctor yet so idk what to do now really. I swam 64 laps in 79 minutes (including some short breaks) mostly switching between freestyle, back, and breaststroke, and just the former two at the end. That's about 2 miles I think.

| | Things keep on changing. Today it looks like my season may happen after all. I'm trying to not get my hopes up. But hopefully I find out some good information tomorrow.
AM: 1 mile swimming (32 laps in 38ish minutes)
PM: 60 min or so on the bike. It was really hard to keep at it and keep my heart rate up.

| | 3 mile tempo on lake loop. We got to two miles at 10:00 and it was so easy. Idk how long I could have held it. But it doesnt matter, cuz then we turned around and I finished in 5:08 or so, and it was pretty hard. The wind was very strong. Oh well.
