Short-Term Running Goals: -Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials Long-Term Running Goals: -Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.
-Break stroller records?
-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.
Personal: I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home. |

| | I drilled my goal of running 14 miles, getting 14.00 according to MMR. Ran 6:30 pace on the way home including side routes. It was a nice morning on west river road but not a lot of people out. I realized this is the third straight year I've had an obstacle to my running during the fall, with my injury this year, fatigue last year and surgery the year prior.

| | It was raining and 55 degrees so it seemed like a good opportunity for another swim. No major improvement on my single lap (44 seconds) but I did 27 total and felt less tired after. I made a silly miscalculation and ended up running further than planned. 7:22 pace. Nice to have light outside on the way home because of daylight savings.

| | 6:20 pace, west river road. Effort was more than that, but I also took some of the major offroads and explored the Minnehaha lower glen trail for the first time which was slow. It was also really cool though. I didn't love Minnehaha park the very first time I visited because it was crowded and I had to pay for parking but it has been a part of a lot of really good long runs.

| | 6:51 pace, east river road. Had my first "slip and slide" run of the season with a few ice patches after the storm yesterday, but by the time I ran past the same places on the way home a lot of them had melted. Its interesting how much an hour or two can make in totally changing how a run goes in a situation like that.

| | Ran around Roseville, its not worth the time to plot the exact pace. Sadly, my knee pain has come on strong again the past couple of days.

| | A meandering 6:20 pace on W&OD westbound. With my knee, I think the slow pace is not only to take care of it but also because you are used to going so slow that it is hard to get up to speed.
When you're from Minnesota and you are spending time with relatives from Virginia, there is bound to be small talk about how cold where you live is. Nevertheless, it is quite interesting to note that today, here in Virginia, was my coldest run so far this year, at 25 degrees. Of course that will change really quickly when I get back to the cities where it is frigid right now, but still interesting. Leaf number 3 caught this season.
