Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. 5 mile run out to my school averaged 7:55 pace, so a little faster than the other day. I was going to run home, but wasn't feeling the greatest so I had Sunny come pick me up. I don't think I'm going to run the Ogden Marathon now. I think the plan will be to just do the Utah Valley and then St. George in the fall. By doing Utah Valley this will give me one more month to get into shape hopefully.

Interesting 5 mile run. I started out and ran over to the water tank east of Zion View Estates, then I climbed up the very steep portion of Nephi's Twist trail. Anyway between the climbing and walking the first 3 miles averaged about 11 minute pace. I know pretty slow, but I was really sweating, way over dressed but that is good maybe it helped some with my weight loss program. Ok, once I got up on top I was near the highway and decided to just run a 2 mile tempo down the La Verkin Twist. I was interested to see where my speed is at. I hit 12:38 for the 2 miles so 6:17 avereage, I guess I got my answer I really don't have any speed right now, thee good thing was I didn't feel totally spent from the tempo.

Ran with Clyde, Ruth, and Bill.  We just did a loop from the Dixie Center.  The pace was a little faster than I've been running around 7:30, but I kept up for the most part.

I drove up to the road going to the La Verkin Overlook, then ran from there out to the cracks and then down toward the river. Overall 6 mile run, I felt ok, fun to run on some trails I've never been on before.
