Went out this afternoon and did a hill workout over at Pah Tempe Hot Springs. This is where I did most of my hill repeats in preparation for Boston and I really enjoy the hill and the workout it provides. The last hill workout I did was back on March 30 a couple of weeks before Boston, so I was kind of curious today to see where I am at in terms of being in shape. Since the marathon I have taken my training fairly easy the last month and a half. Anyway started out with a 2.5 mile warm-up, little longer than I usually do. After the warm-up I got into the workout. Repeat #1 was 2:09- which is now an all time PR, I was really surprised I ran that fast on the first one, maybe it was just the fact I was excited to be out doing hill repeats again. Slowed down to 2:14 on the Repeat #2 and started to wonder if I had just wasted all my energy on the first repeat. Between the second repeat and third repeat threw-up a little bit of lunch, I thought this might happen because it had only been a few hours since I had a big lunch. Anyway on to Repeat #3 ran 2:19 and figured I should be done for the day, since I was just slowing down on each repeat. My mind was willing, but I was having trouble getting the rest of my body into gear. However, I did decide to do one more repeat since I had originally planned on doing 4 repeats. Repeat #4-was 2:13 really glad I decided to stick with my plan and do the last one. Felt pretty satisfied after the workout and look forward to doing more hills as the summer goes on. Today the rest was right around 3:30 between each rep. Ran 3 miles for a cool down. Ran 4 miles tonight on the treadmill while watching the NBA Finals game one.
