Club Run at the Dixie Center, went out on the trails in Little Valley and Bloomington.  Hot outside but not to terrible.  First time running since State Track, not sure if 10 miles was the best idea but it was great to be back running.  Felt a little sore afterward and my hip was hurting a bit during the run but for the most part it felt great.

Missed yesterday, but was able to go out today. Only an easy three but i thought it would probably be a good idea to kinda work up the milage again.  My right hammy was giving me trouble for the first little bit but started to feel better as I kept going another reminder that I need to stretch more.  Body's still trying to figure out how to run again, my arms felt like they didn't know where to go!

I just finished! I decided to sleep in today, but I am planning on coming to practice tomorrow.

Not a bad week getting back going.

Total Distance

AM:  Easy four up Turtle Trail with the team.  Not my best run, hips were sore and my left leg was giving me a bit of trouble, on top of that 3 hours of sleep and no breakfast concluded in a little headache.  Not sure that was the best idea. Other than that it was a fun run, I sure am going to miss everyone.

PM:  Nice, easy three.  My younger siblings wanted to tag along so it was uber slow, but it felt nice to take it easy and get all the gunk out of my legs.  Stretched a bit afterward and feel pretty good.

Total Distance
4.00

Ran home after playing basketball for two hours, easy four, legs a little tired and little side cramps but nothing big. Felt pretty good, but I need to make sure I am drinking more water!

Missed yesterday, unfortunatly.  Helped out with running club today, six with Coach, Corey, and Tyson over by the Dixie Center. Not bad but I was rather tired.

Total Distance

Been pretty busy with SUU orientation and family reunion so I missed the last few days, unfortunatly. Todays run wasnt too bad, but not the best.  Foremaster six, felt kinda tired the whole run, plus running alone wasnt my fav either.  But no real pains and awesome new shorts made up for it.

New shorts always make up for it - but not as much as new shoes.

Old Man Club at 7:00 on Thursday.

Oh yes definatly! I wont be able to be there thursday, how far should I go for that?

Total Distance

Easy 6, Felt alright, little side aches and Quads were a bit tight but not a bad run.  Breathing felt different with the higher altitude (you can always get higher) but it wasn't difficult.  Had to run alone but not bad.

Total Distance
6.00

AM:  Easy 3, nice pace, felt good. Hills were no fun.  Jumped into the lake afterward, felt great.

PM:  Raced a mile for the Triathalon thats where the altitude finally got to  me but I still did rather well.  Went on a 2 miler after for extra milage, still not enough but better than nothing.

Total Distance

Ran with the team that went to camp. Felt pretty good, no pains, sped it up a little more towards the end. Felt good.

Missed a bunch of days and its killing me.  Club run at the Dixie Center, usual route.  I felt really tired. I dont think the heat helped.  Stopped to go to the bathroom real quick and after that my legs were just drained. Hopefully next time will be better.

Total Distance

Went to practice with the Team.  Grapevine then down Washington Parkway with Trevor, up Telegraph, back to the school and did barefoot striders.  Felt good to run on grass again,  felt good.

Total Distance
6.50

Not bad today. Left quad hurting a bit but not much.  Mapped out a mile loop from my house for my family, got it down on the second try, I guess my Hawk-o-meter was working today.  Rather hot outside, so jumped in the pool.  Did a few laps in the pool but not much, felt good.

Total Distance
10.00

Club Run at Dixie Center, same loop.  Not the best run, stayed with the pack a little longer then last week but still fell behind, my quads were hurting a bit again.

Total Distance

Ran with Trevor to the college did a mile or so barefoot on grass.  No real pains, interesting how it comes and goes.

Total Distance

Went 7 with the team down into Hell's Hole with striders afterward, felt pretty good.  The huge hill didnt effect me as much as I thought it would but still made me tired.  When I got home I ran another 2 miles with my brothers.

Total Distance
7.50

Nice and easy, a little hot outside but not too terrible.  Ran by myself around Downtown area, (if you can call it that!)  Other than the heat, today was a pretty good run.

Total Distance

Nice run today. Felt real solid, had no pains and not too tired.  Ran with Coach, Devo, and Steve into Middleton, with Striders afterward.

Kids Club today was ... lets just say ... energy filled! Those kids are awesome!  At club run, Trev and I were late so we were trying to catch up. First two miles was a 12:07.  I Fell behind a bit on the fourth mile but kept at about 7 min. pace, then for the rest of the run I dropped it back down to about 5:50 pace.  I cut the run short because I needed to be back for my dads birthday, so I only went six but I think the faster pace made up for it a little bit.  Supprisingly I felt pretty good!

AM:  V.W. Park with the team. Good to have Tyson back as well as Rachel.  Felt great! A little sore afterwards but nothing a bit of stretching can't fix.

PM:  Chelsi's Run,  Felt great! Didn't run my hardest but I wasn't really trying to.  I guess legally I took third place but you know, who's counting! After the race we did another lap for a cool down.  Great to see Corey again, I missed him!

Not the best run.  I kinda got a little lazy this past week and didnt go out running all week, which propably made this run even harder.  Went with the team, up Webb Hill on the back side then down the other side only to go back up two more times. Ran back to the park with Coach and Devin, and Rachel was nice enough to join us.  I was rather excited at the beginning since I had never done the Meatgrinder.  Yeah that was interesting.  I'm rather tired and sore but nothing too serious, just need to stretch and maybe ice.

Easy twelve, with three of if barefoot on the grass.  Felt pretty good other than my left knee and my big toe on my right foot hurting. They were weird pains but not to painful.  It was nice to be able to run that far by myself, gave me time to clear my head.  Good run!

Total Distance

Easy run around town.  Really hot today, I could feel the heat take away my energy. Other than that it was a good run. My toe still hurting a bit today but not as bad, Steve helped with that.  I was planning on going ten but my loop didnt end up being quite that far.  Oh well.

Total Distance
11.00

Club run, usual loop. Felt real good, one of the best club runs I've been to.  It was only Mike, Bill, Aaron, Amber and I, so it was pretty fun.  When I got home I ran another mile with my mom and  brother, it was rather slow but running none the less. Knee still hurting, not sure what the deal is but I iced it a bit today.

Total Distance
9.50

AM: Ran with Trevor and did the Tunnel run.  I felt really tired this morning and my knee hurt for about the first mile but felt better afterward.

PM:  5 miles without ever leaving my ward boundaries, sounds tedious but it wasn't too bad.  I mapped out a couple of differant mile loops just within my ward, kinda fun.  It felt great tonight, I didn't feel any pains and wasn't too tired.  Averaged about 6:48 pace. Would have been faster but my brother ran a mile with me, he did rather well, kept a solid pace and ran well. I think he is going to be pretty good in High School!

Good run today. Ran with Trevor around St. George... literally. A little tired about half way through it but didn't last long. Around mile 7 my hip started to hurt a bit. At 7.5, couldn't feel it. Really good run, Trevor's excitment for college is kinda rubbing off on me.

Total Distance

At the beginning I felt drained but as I warmed up, I felt great.  Nice run into the fields with Trevor. A little sore afterward, but will be taked care of!

Total Distance
14.50

Good run. Fourteen with 3 mile tempo in the fields. I feel a little fatigued today and my hips and calfs are a little sore but I iced, stretched, rolled, and plan on doing more of each. Longest run I've had in awhile, it was great until about mile 10ish.  Random Fact- In the average lifetime, a person will walk the equivalent of 5 times around the equator.

Total Distance

Pretty good run, still rather tired and quads are sore but not too bad.  Seven with barefoor striders. Saw one of the coolest things today as we were heading into Greensprings. Awesome! Random Fact- The 57 on Heinz ketchup bottles represents the number of varieties of pickles the company once had.

Total Distance

I was going to go eight today but I got caught up in watching the races that it didn't really happen.  Starbucks with the team this morning, then rode up to Cedar with them this afternoon.  Man I wish I was racing with them, but a part of me is kinda glad I dont have to.  I'm super excited for them, both the boys and girls teams are going to be really good this year.

Total Distance

Club Run, usual route.  Only Aaron, Clyde and me there today.  Good run, kept the pace at 7 min, didn't want to take it as fast as the other two. Felt pretty good.

Parkway loop with Trev, and Corey.  Nice and chill.  Met my college team today, it was weird but I'm excited.

AM: 6.5  First day of practice with the college team.  It was a good run, starting at the college we went to the trail and continued on that to the Dixie Center where we turned around. Started out at a faster pace then I was expecting but still felt really good.  One of the better runs lately. The whole run counted today seeing that not one mile was over 7 min. pace, that's for you Mike!

PM: 1.5  Ran with my parents around the neighborhood.

Total Distance
11.50

AM: 5- Ran twenty minutes out and twenty minutes back, just nice and easy, we were supposed to run on the grass but we didn't make it to the fields we were heading to so that didn't really happpen.  Good run, didn't start out as fast as yesterday thankfully, wore my compression sleeves during the run and kept them on for awhile after as well.

PM: 6- Met at Little Valley Stake Center and did Meatgrinder 2X. 'nough said.  Rather hard and tiring but not as bad as I was expecting.

Total Distance
8.50

AM: SunriseTire 6.5- Good run, felt great.  No pains other than a little in the right shoulder towards the end, but thats no biggy.  Nice to run in familiar places, brought back memories of High School.

PM: 2- Ran with my parents again through the neighborhood nice and easy.  (Fivefingers 2.00miles)

Total Distance
10.50

AM: 4.5- Ran to Dixie High School and did some barefoot around the park area.  Not the best place to do barefoot, just saying.  I ran into a patch of Goat Head/Bull Head whatever you call them, stickaburs. Yeah that hurt.   My right leg was hurting a bit this morning but not too bad,  a bit of rolling should do the trick.

PM: 6- 800 repeats. Splits- 2:42, 2:38, 2:38, 2:39, 2:38, 2:41, 2:35.  Pretty consistant, and the team stayed together really well.  Other than the bottom of my feet hurting still from the thorns this morning, I felt great.

Total Distance
9.50

PM: 8 Skyline- Nice, easy run.  Legs felt tired and quesy for about the first half mile or so then felt great for the rest of the run.  Felt a little sore afterward today but I stretched and feel better.

PM: 1.5- Ran with my mommie.

Total Distance
15.00

AM: STGM, 10- Great Run, one of the best 10 milers I've had.  We ran the last part of the STG marathon, Nick and I did a bit of tempo for the last 2 miles or so.  Felt Awesome (tree)   After, I went to the High School meet at Hurricane and there I ran the last 3 miles of Devo's workout with him.

PM: 1.5- Ran with my mom.

This week has been of the best weeks I've had in awhile, been feeling well and strong. Lets hope it continues.

Total Distance

7 Middleton- Good run, first day of school so practice was earlier.  Holy Freshman race!  I was rather confused.  I think that was the first time I've ever done a cool down after an easy run.

5.5 Turkey Farm- 8 x 400 hill repeats.  Better then I was expecting, the first two were definatly the hardest.  No afternoon practice because of the athlete's meeting, probably should have ran on my own though.

Total Distance

AM: 4, barefoot- Way better then last week, no thorns to step on! Good run, super fun and felt great to run on grass, as always.

PM: 8, Webb Hill- Meatgrinder 3x, not too bad but not the best either. Had to do the last one by myself.  Some of those bushes look creepy in the dark.  I hate when you run in the dark and it feels like you're running faster then you really are. Most annoying.

Total Distance
6.00

AM: 6, Dixie Center- Late to practice so I wasn't able to go the full workout before I had to get to my class.  My legs feel rather tired today, last night my calves were really tight so I went to bed with my compression sleeves and I felt so much better this morning, but they're still a little tender.

Total Distance
8.00

8, Pres fun run/Sandstone-  I got 2nd at the Presidents 5K, not sure what my time was, I just took it as a tempo.  Then got home and ran with my family and Sophie. Got some barefoot in, good run!

Total Distance
8.50

8.5, Skyline- Good run, my legs were way tired at the beginning but started to loosen up the farther we went.  Starting to get pretty nervous for our meet this Saturday.  Never raced an 8K, but good thing my excitment is more prevalent then my nervousness, that's a bonus.

Total Distance
14.00

AM: 4, Vernon Worthen- Barefoot, love it.  Not the best place for barefoot, as they recently airated (spelling?) the grass, but large field so not quite as tedious as a smaller one.  I found a frisbee.  fun fun

PM: 10, Virgin River Trail-  5x Mile Repeats,  I was a little worried before about this workout.  I went to practice early today so I could get some warmup stuff in which include, high knees, BK's, Scott kicks, etc.  super dogs, fire hydrants... the works. Then ran two miles over to where we were meeting.  I think all that helped me mentally as well as physically.

Coach said he would like us to get each mile in around 5:40 which made me think  Oh Poop!  But I am rather happy with myself, my miles were 5:15, 5:10, 5:26, 5:10, 5:26.  Big hill in middle of third and just a little worn down on the last, but pretty good! Mike and I stuck together on all but the last where he pulled ahead.  Felt great on this workout, even after, I still felt so good.

Total Distance
10.00

AM: 7, Middleton- Late to practice so I was playing catch up for most of it.  Good run though, felt smooth. Legs are a bit tired but not too bad.

PM: 3, FLx2-  Nice and easy to get the gunk out of the legs.

Total Distance
11.50

AM: 4.5, Dixie High-  Felt good.  We ran to Dixie's football field and did some barefoot.

PM: 7, Lower field-  10x400 felt pretty good.  Legs have been feeling a bit sore and have been hurting a bit but not to terrible, I'm planning on icing tomorrow since I can't tonight.  We did the 400's in the grass because there were soccer games going on. Did barefoot on the last four.  1:14,  1:11,  1:13,  1:13,  1:11,  1:12,  1:10,  1:09,  1:07,  1:02

First off, that race was hard.  I think part of it was inexperience, and it was hard to breathe, started way to fast and didnt really know how to pace myself.  But with that and the really high altitude, I think I did rather well for the first race.  I wish we had done a better warm up, I dont think we were quite ready for the race in that regard.  And I almost missed the start.  That could have been bad.  Second on the team, Mike did great.  We both broke the school record for that course by quite a bit.

Not my best race. I got 3rd on the team. Rodney and Jake ahead of me but I beat Mike, who won last week. I think I was shot mentally.  Had a hard time keeping myself positive. My acceles was hurting pretty badly throughout most of the race and especially after.  As a team we all stayed packed a lot better than last week.  Im glad we're bonding well and forming good friendships.

PM: 6.5, Turkey Farm- 6x400 Hills, 6x200 Hills alternating. Not the best workout. My legs felt super heavy and tired.  When I got home I iced, stretched and rolled a bit.

Total Distance

7.25, Middleton south loop- My legs are so tired.  Not sure the icing did much last night. I finally started to feel warmed up towards the end of the run.  It was nice to run in familiar areas again though.

Total Distance
11.50

AM: 3, DHS-  Ultitmate! So much fun.

PM: 8.5, Harmons-  Had to do it by myself again.  Dang Thursday class. 15x60 sec intervals.  Two Mile warm up and cool down.  Hit every one at 1 min, weird how I always get the same time when we do intervals!  Felt pretty good tonight, aside from legs hurtin again on the cool down.  Probably best day this week, running wise.

Total Distance
4.50

4.5, VW- Fun day! Coach told everyone practice was at 6:30 which usually means it's going to be an easy day. So I was rather curious as to why we were having another easy day seeing that we just had one yesterday.  Turns out, our workout is a game of Ultimate while Coach Ross makes pancakes for us. Supa fun. I made the most Megan legit catch of my mortal existance! (My little brag session)  Legs feel pretty tired and heavy still.

Total Distance
12.50

12.5, STM- Good run. Felt pretty good, finally. This has been a sluggish week, for the most part.  It took us about just as long to run today as it took us to run two miles less last time we ran the marathon course.  Nice weather, just a good day.  The run didnt seem to last very long.  Lets hope more good days follow.

AM: 3, DHS-  nice and easy, barefoot ult.

PM: 9, Trail-  18 x 60 sec. intervals.  Nick and I started at the college and ran to the trail as a warm up where we met with sean to do our workout.  Super hot outside. For about the first half I felt really heavy and tired with a minor side ache.  I had major RAD-G but I couldn't ever tell if it was real RAD-G or Murrey Trevor. Toward the last half I finally was starting to feel warmed up and ready to run fast.  Took an Ice Baath afterward, felt amazing!

Ran a mile with my mom in the evening.

I was a little worried about doing this Fun Run when I only got maybe 1/2 hour of sleep last night. But I wasn't as tired as I thought I would be.   Was only able to get around a mile warm up.  Kept it at around 5:20 pace for most of it.  The whole last half mile of the course is uphill so it has a terrible ending.  Did about a two mile cool down.

Right after the race I went to practice at Sienna Hills park in Washington. Not many people could make it this morning so it was only Mike, Iel, Lucy, Coach Ross and I.  We ended up doing Dino Tracks, one of my favorites.  I felt pretty good today.  Not terribly sore or tired.  After the run my calves were pretty tight but I stretched and they feel better.

PM: 9, Paper Route- Ran a mile with my mom then went on to do my workout.  Decided to do my Paper Route just to see how long it is.  I was expecting to have to extend it in order to get the whole eight miles in but turns out it is exactly eight miles.  My ankle hurt a bit today, I think that may just be the after effects of when I twisted it.  The worst part of the whole run was the last half mile when I was having bowel issues and there were no relievers close by.  Almost didn't make it home.

AM: 4, DHS/VW-  Not bad, had to do it alone though.  Twisted my ankle once again.

PM: 9, Trail-  6 x Mile Repeats, Not too terrible.  My ankle was hurting a bit toward the beginning and I had huge side aches through most of it.  Times were:  5:15, 5:18, 5:12, 5:21, 5:19, 5:31.

I felt unbalanced tonight, I felt that way at the beginning of the Fun Run I did Saturday but I had just thought that was from lack of sleep.  I had a pretty good amount of sleep today so I'm not sure thats it.  It started to go away the farther into the workout we went.

Race, Vegas-  Good race. I feel like this is probably my best race this season.  It was a difficult course (We actually raced there in High School) with lots of sand on a 1/2 mile or so hill but I still got a 4 second PR.  8th overall, 3rd scoring, 1st on the team.  I felt really good, physically as well as mentally.  Calves super sore afterwards though.

PM: 7, Hansen Statium-  12 x 400, a lot better than I was expecting.  The wind was horrible though.  It decided to blow hard on some but not as hard on others.  Whow.  Just me and Sean and my sweet new shorts.  Times: 1:14, 1:09, 1:08, 1:16, 1:11, 1:13, 1:12, 1:12, 1:13, 1:12, 1:10, 1:09.  Dang wind.  Pretty fun though, not going to lie.

Race, Color Country Invitaional-  Dumb.  Not my best race.  Probably my worst.  I guess it was just on of those days.  I felt heavy and drained.  It was just super hard to get moving.  It was great to see the High School team there, I couldn't help but grin when I saw them.  You guys are awesome, thanks for coming!  (Next time come when I have a good race) :)  Hopefully that will be the next one, seeing that it's conference.  So bring on the Ice, The Stick, and the Stretching.

6.5, Foremaster-  Last weekend I was feeling rather discouraged about running, I felt like I wasn't really improving and that I wasn't going to feel better physically.  I didn't end up running Friday or Saturday.  When I went to practice this morning I realized that I missed it.  It felt so good to run again.  It confirmed to me that running is a part of who I am and I could never give it up.  Running gives me so much joy and helps me in so many ways that I wouldn't get anywhere else.

Didn't happen so much on the concret.

Race- Super fun Trip to Phoenix, but not the best race.  I was feeling pretty good during the warm up but once the race started I didnt have it with me.  I wasn't completly there mentally and that was certainly a problem.  After the race was over my feet were burning, I think I need new racers.  Although I did get a PR, it was a faster course and I felt like I could have done better.  It was a good learning experience and was still way fun to race and I'm glad I was able to.  Next time, I am determind to feel good about my race, knowing I pushed as hard as I could for the whole thing.

And it certainly has felt better.  Ran alone again today.  I realized that I don't really like it, and it's harder for me to get out to run when I don't have anyone to run with.  Went out to Washington, I haven't ran on Telegraph since they finished and I thought that I would try it out.  I did 3x400m Fartleks in the last mile and a half.  Overall, a good run.

They started to hurt a bit after my run yesterday, all morning and continued throughout the run today. Still don't know how to stretch them.  Other than that it was a pretty good run.  Went to check out the new park in Washington taking the Mosquito Trail route.  It's pretty nice although I think it needs more grass.  Went along Industrial Rd. on the way back and finished with Sophie's Mile.

Race: Expedition St. George Relay (50 miles) (50 Miles) 05:00:00, Place overall: 1
Total Distance
11.00

Did the Expedition St. George Relay with Sean, Rodney, Alex, and Nick. Starting with the first leg run by Rodney, we started out in the lead.  After the first leg, we never lost that lead, although there were some pretty close calls from the Running Center Guys.

My first leg was the sixth, starting out in front of Sunrise Tire heading toward Arctic Circle where I turned and eventually got to the trail.  The course took me on the Middleton Wash Trail to Virgin River Trail to Mosquito Trail and finally finishing at the new soccer park in Washington.  It was a good run and felt pretty decent. Ended up taking the first mile a bit too fast (5:10) but was able to keep the rest of the leg at around 6:00 pace.  From what people were telling me, Steve and I kept about the same pace through the whole leg until towards the last mile when he started to gain some ground on me.  Pretty good leg, and glad I did that one seeing that I'm so familiar with it from running there so many times in High School.  Calves were pretty tight and hurting quite a bit afterwards but stretching helped and they felt better but still a bit tender by my next leg.

My second leg was the 10th and last leg.  Starting into it I'm guessing I had about a 2:00-2:30 head start from the Running Center team.  I start out pretty quick, perhaps to quick, so I slowed down a bit and tried to pace myself.  Not too long after that I started hurting and felt drained of energy and slowing down, but I forced myself to push through it and pick up the pace again.  Once I did that those negative feelings left and was able to get back into race mode.  I knew from the beginning Clyde was going to close in the gap as I know how great of a runner he is.  So at about the end of Man O War on the bridge I was told Clyde was about 50 sec. behind me and I could faintly start to hear his footsteps.  I don't know if I really could or it was just my brain playing tricks on me but I didn't ever want to look back to see how close he was because I knew that if I did, I would slow down.  So onto the Bloomington Trail back to the Dixie Center.  40 Sec. 30 Sec. 25, 15, 10 Seconds behind me.  He was closing in on me and I could definitely hear his footsteps now so I continued to push harder. I got to the last bridge before the DC and I can see my team and the Running Center team there yelling at both of us.  Around the curve after the bridge I chance a glance at Clyde.  It surprised me at how close he was.  Right then Rodney yells at me that there is only 800 meters left so I start to book it.  I then decide to look at my watch and realize that there is really a mile left.  Unbeknownst to myself or my teammates, the finish continues along the trail for awhile more before it turns into the DC parking lot.  But I knew that if I wanted to win this race then I needed to push the entire way.  It felt pretty much like a sprint.  My legs were pounding, throbbing, and jello.  I knew Clyde was hurting but still wanted it.  So I kept pushing.  I ended up crossing the line with Clyde only eight seconds behind me.  After I crossed the line I nearly passed out, my vision was shaky and I couldn't quite see clearly for a bit.  My teammates were holding me up so I didn't face plant it.

So there it is, we won, it was so much fun, and we couldn't have done it with out the Running Center guys.  They pushed us and made it fun and exciting.  Glad they were there.
