Running Accomplishments:

Pretty new. Have done some training for specific Army competitions which have got me running a pretty decent amount, but by no means incredible.

5k-  21:00 (Oct. 2008)

10k-  41:07*

10 mile- (upcoming)

1/2 marathon- (haven't done it yet)

Marathon - Hopefully this year...

Short-Term Running Goals:

Sub 19:00 5k

Run one marathon within the next 12 months

Stay healthy this year. Coming off of a bad shin splint which took about 3-4 months to fully recover.

Build back up to 60+ miles a week

Long-Term Running Goals:

Finish a marathon sub 3:00:00 

Personal:

A CPT in the US Army stationed at Fort Benning, GA. I've three wonderful kids and the best wife I could ask for. Been away from the running scene for a while, and I sure miss it. Trying to make a comeback!

You know Colby, I've just got to say your blog is fascinating to me as a runner, a history teacher, and a former soldier...

I mean you're fighting a war! And yet, interspersed with your "missions", you have these moments of normality when you go for a seven mile run almost like you're a suburban husband/father at the end of a work day - only your workday is quite different.

I'm thinking what if blogs existed during WW II...

June 6, 1944 - "We invaded the Normandy Beach today. My platoon was assigned a sector of Omaha Beach - Man that sucked! Easy seven miles plus some fast striders on the cliffs above Point Du Hoc in the pm.

Modern warfare! I'm telling you, historians will study your blog someday.
