Bummer race.... but I'm not too upset about it for some reason. I had a bad tummy all day yesterday and didn't expect it to be ready to race today. Kind of hoped it would hold up but knew I was asking a lot. Took it out hard with the guy who ended up winning. I actually caught him at mile one and that split was 4:26. Then I passed him right there and lead for around a half mile but around 2.2 I got a killer side ache (just like Ogden 2008) and had to run the remainder of the race as road kill. Obviously the leader was long gone as I limped in. Then some old dude passed me at around mile 5 as I was barely going 6 min pace. I felt really sheepish about the whole thing. It just sucks getting passed when you know you should be almost done. From there I barely beat Steven Abraham Lincoln for 3rd. I wasn't trying to hold him off as I could barely run my side ache hurt soo bad. Anyways finished 3rd overall but was more bummed about the time and not being able to hold and hammer out a race. Felt like I was ready for a killer 10k. Even if I would have ran great I would not have won... the guy ran a impressive 29: something. I was hopping to run around a low 31:00 or with some luck maybe break 31:00. But not today!

Sorry about the sour stomach during race, nice job running through it as well as you did.

Have a great weekend.

The leader was cruising when I saw him at the Tuacahn turn. It was his day. That being said, way to "gut" out a 3rd.

Clyde, way to stick it out. Normal people like me would have tanked the race and walked it in- Keep inspiring me my friend!

29! Who in the crap was that?

Dang, sorry about the lack of cooperation. Maybe your stomach turned when it saw you in a wig on the blog???

From Mike Warren on Sat, Mar 19, 2011 at 19:01:17 from 74.211.2.89

Maybe its because of what you showed me before the race started? We will avoid discussing that on the blog:) Still a good workout and a fun day. Thats a crazy fast first mile! Your in great shape for this early in the season. Big things will be coming this year!!!

Thanks for the words.

Dave I'm not sure of his name. But Aaron said he ran UV half and that he beat Aaron there.

Michelle- that's below the belt:)

Way to hang in there Clyde, it was good to see you! The stomach is a fickle thing and very frustrating at times!

Keep up the google fight.

Sounds like fun or something like unto it.

I think the moon being so close to the earth is what have you a side ache. Or maybe it was the fact you were running a 4.30 pace! You run like Pre! All out or nothing! Way to push yourself.

Sorry about the bummer of a race. Looks like you've got a good attitude about the race though. That first mile was smokin fast!

From Burt on Mon, Mar 21, 2011 at 15:24:45 from 206.19.214.144

Maybe the 29 guy was Mike Warren. He seems to pop up out of no where lately.

From Paul on Mon, Mar 21, 2011 at 15:30:11 from 24.10.141.104

Yes, Brad Osguthorpe was 3rd at UVM behind me, and outkicked me at Des News 10K. Former Weber runner, I think.

Sorry to hear about the crummy outcome Clyde. Sometimes you just have a bad day and thats all there is to it I guess.
