I ran the 11 miles down to Venice Beach, picked up a rental board and surfed for three hours until I was dead. Great surf today, 3 feet every 15 seconds. Then ran back.

Drove down to Galveston from Houston and surfed through the early morning.  Mostly gentle waves almost not worth the effort but for the feeling of being on the water.  Did a long run along the Gulf coast after.  Last day of five at work, the longest trip away from home I have done in a long time.  But a good one.

Busy day at home fitting in running where I could.

4.5 in the morning up Rattlesnake Trail highstepping in the snow before the kids got up.  Hard crust breaking through and cutting up my shins.  Had red socks when I got back home.

6 mid day easy at the gym making phone calls while running.

4 along the deer fence trail evening after snow kayaking with the kids.

Snow shoe running along the Wellsvilles today. This distance took over three hours. Running in snow shoes is kind of like tying 10 lb bags of flour on your shoes and running in 8 inches of mashed potatoes for hours.

First Circuit race of the year and I had a good time with this one.  We were staying with the Murphys this weekend and this gave me a chance to catch up on old times with Rob and get in this race.  I knew that I would get a good butt kicking since I haven't done any real training yet and haven't felt that old energy for the road racing, but today brought a lot of that back.  Time to set aside some of the trail fun and get training.  This will be the best year for Masters on the Circuit ever.

5 mile warm up.  The race felt really fast for me, seeing over 17 at the finish line was a surprise.  But that's to be expected seeing how the first mile was faster than I have ran since the Alta race last Fall.  It was a ton of fun and I'm excited to have something to push hard for now.  The Masters are competitive this year!  Rob ran a great 5k, pulling a 17:50 out of nowhere.  Steve Ash looked way smooth.  He's going to have a good year.  Sasha is as steady as a rock, the usual.  Walter is pretty much the man at the longer distance stuff.  Dennis can come out 50 and still show us all who's boss.  Scott is going to have to be the target.  :-)  He's in a league of his own right now.

3.8 at lunch taping video with the Boston crowd.
