Warmed up with 3 miles then ran 3X1 mile repeats at 5k pace with 1/4 mile jog in between.  Target pace was 6:00/mile.  First mile felt good and came in at 5:58 with my HR at 163.  Second mile was slightly aided but was still a little more work (5:55 with HR at 172).  The last mile was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad.  I had a real hard time holding the pace and it was killing me.  At one point my heart rate was 182 which is close to my max.  It was odd that this mile was so hard considering the first 2 didn't feel that bad.  Finished it in 6:06 with an average HR of 175.  Pretty surprised that the pace was that fast.  It felt very slow.  Cooled down with 2.5 more of super slow miles.

Great workout Andy! Those are some fast miles. I have that exact same workout waiting for me in the morning except it won't be nearly as fast.

I love 1 mile repeats. The shorter intervals kill me cuz I am not great with sprinting. I need to do that workout soon.

I need to do some speed work. Very inspiring.

You are so killer fast!!!

I was thinking about your fast paces the last couple of days ... I am certain that if it is not an upcoming soccer game then it must definitely be the chocolate covered cinnamon bears!!! Stick with them!!!

Seriously, so killer fast!

Teena - Doing the "soccer game" thing the second time around is so much harder. There are so many more variables thrown in the mix. Sometimes it feels like it is more work than it is worth.

From Smooth on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 16:24:23 from 71.36.85.214

VERY AWESOME mile repeats. You are so stinkin' FAST!!! I think the "soccer game" is SO WORTH it! The variables do complicate things a little. When you find "what" completes you, it is worth fighting for! You're a go-getter; so yah, stick with it!

From RivertonPaul on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 16:36:09 from 67.42.27.114

I am/was a soccer player. :)

From Cal on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 16:37:20 from 66.133.117.3

I think you play for the wrong team Paul.

From Rhett on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 17:33:03 from 74.36.34.147

Andy, great repeats.

Paul, another reason why I like you so much. I am/was a soccer player. I played for the Y in 89/90 and 92/93 then decided I better get on with my life and focused on school for the last 2 years.

From Kathie on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 19:01:29 from 207.155.176.10

Nice run Andy.

Rhett - we are totally NOT talking about soccer! You both play for the wrong team!

From jeffc on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 19:18:18 from 167.207.128.101

Sure a lot of codes and secret combinations in this discussion....Paul and Rhett, I'm lost too....never had/heard of chocolate covered cinny bears either....hmmmmm...

From Andy on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 19:20:19 from 198.60.114.178

Chocolate covered cinnamon bears are just that. They are just about the best thing ever invented. The ones from the Nutty Guys are the best.
