| Ran 4 miles on the treadmill. Kids had a 2hr delay so I took advantage. Ran slow (9:13) for almost the whole mile and did 1 min strides each mile at an 8 pace with a total of 4. Felt good. It actually felt better to run the 8 pace then to run slower. Looks like my legs are coming back from my month off. |

| Well confirmed.....Broken Rib!!! Hurts like hell. Ran 3 miles this am before I knew it was broken. Started at a 9:40 pace for 1 mile, went to a 9:30, then a 9:22. The last 1/2 mile sped up to an 8:27 just to get done and the last 1/4 was a 7:30. It felt better to run faster. As soon as I stopped the pain set in again. We shall see how it goes. Leave it to me to break ribs!!! |

| Blizzard outside and snow over the kids heads. Did hill workout on the treadmill. 10 min warm up at an easy 9:40 pace then increased the speed to 6.5 9:13's and ran hills at 3, 5. and 7% until I had about a mile left was going to cool down but felt so good ran the first 1/2 at the same 9:13 pace then went to 8:34 for a 1/4 then 7:53 for the last 1/4. Avg pace 9:20's because of the warm up. I hate that!!! Oh well quality hill is what I wanted and thats what I got. |

Ran Chesapeake Cross Country Race in the rain and mudd with my 11 year old daughter, her 11 year old best friend, and my 9 year old son. Started slower around a 9:20 pace (Colleen and I stayed with the girls because this was supposed to be an easy day for us) each mile they started to go a little faster. Around mile 2 my daughter took off.......winning first place in her age group. She finished in 28:06 an 8:56 pace. Her best freind was 50 seconds behind her, and my son was about 1 minute behind us! They did great. My son took 1st place in his age group also and was the youngest runner.
After the race I came home and did 3 more on the treadmill.

Overslept and rushed out of the house to meet Colleen on the trail. Drank my coffee on the way (UGGGH) never pretty when i oversleep. It was very humid out and Colleen tried to kill me by running Glen Oben twice. Started at the 1 and ran Glen Oben then down a little past the five and turned around. Decided on the way back that I just couldnt go 13(or do Glen Oben again for that matter). Walked a minute and ate some power bar and told Colleen to go ahead without me. I ran back to the one and finished 10 miles. Run sucked :(

| When the website for this race said "This is not a PR course" I should have just turned off the computer, but hey why not right???? I have lived near Baltimore almost my whole life and have NEVER seen hills like this! The first few were just rolling.....so it tricks you into heading out too fast, but then....holy crap!!!! The mountains come. Had fun though. Just did what I could. It was also hot and sticky out but nothing compared to the heat and humidity I was about to expericance on Sunday!! Avg pace 9:30 Didnt even come close to my PR! |

| OMG was it hot!! And as if hot wasnt enough the sun beating down on you made it ten times worse. Zooma was supposed to be a race that starts out at the Navel stadium goes through Annapolis for about 2 miles, over the Navel Acadamy Bridge and onto the B&A trail for about 4 miles where its flat and shaded.......nope!!! Race day I find out they change the course. Fun times. Over the bridge, up some more hills to the trail, only on the trail for about 2 miles, and back over the bridge! WHAT??? Ok so very hot and now ALL hills. I found this very sick. I started the race and by mile 1 was sweating and had thrown in the towel. Mentally I quit. Walked and ran in the hot sun, pouring water over my head at every water stop until I hit the 10 K mark. I looked at my watch and asked myself what the hell was I doing???? Started halling ass. I kept pouring water over my head (2 cups over my head and 1 in my mouth). My watch started beeping and quit working so I had no idea where I was miles or time so just kept running. Finished in 1:56:26. Only took 2 1/2 minutes off of my PR but hey at least I ran LOL. Makes me wonder what I can do on a flat cool day. |
