Saw my hip surgeon this morning, everything looks good, and I have officially been released into the wild. I have been given the all clear for running and the full stretching of my tightened parts.

Just because I am allowed to run doesn't mean I am going to start yet. I am going to wait until I get a little more evened out strength wise and feel like my pelvis is more stable. But the fact that I can run if I want to is reason enough to celebrate!

PM: 30 minutes on the elliptical pretending I was running the whole time followed by a terrible Yin Yoga class. Since I blame yoga for getting me into this whole broken situation in the first place I need to stay away from anything other than restore classes from here on out!

Elliptical Miles: 2.50

a reason to celebrate for sure! that is great news.

Great news!! But just looking at how far you've come is also something to celebrate. :-)

Happy day!

Do some walk-jog's to start. You know, mostly walking with a minute or so of jogging thrown in every so often.

From Jake K on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 12:25:29 from 24.2.76.138

Yeah, like Rob said, first workout should be all-out 200s (around 800m pace) and walk the second half of each lap. You could even do all-out 150s and then walk for 250m to be more cautious. I would do these off a rolling start, just to be safe.

Thanks Allie, Neasts, and Rob!

@Jake - 200 what's?

From Jake K on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 12:55:31 from 24.2.76.138

If I don't get a "thanks" as well, then I'm not responding!

From Lulu Walls on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 12:59:08 from 155.100.212.147

You will get one when I understand what it is you are telling me to do! I am unfamiliar with the rolling start. Does that mean someone has to push me? I assume I should do this barefoot as well?

From allie on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 13:02:21 from 161.38.221.168

rolling start means barrel rolling, like what you do when you are on fire.

i honestly cannot tell if any of this is sarcasm.

From Jake K on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 13:05:04 from 24.2.76.138

barefoot is fine, but for traction you may want to use a semi-permanent glue and attached some small spikes or screws to your forefeet.

this is all sarcastic.

no track work for amiee until 2-4 weeks out from the SH Relays. she needs to stay fresh until that point.

From Lulu Walls on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 13:09:20 from 155.100.212.147

None of my comments have been sarcastic. I am still wondering how to rolling start myself and who this Amiee person is.

All that matters is the Holladay Mile!!!

From Jake K on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 13:10:20 from 24.2.76.138

which MIGHT take place in Fall 2013 or June 2014... but it definitely won't be a month from now

From Lulu Walls on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 15:10:13 from 155.100.217.244

How can they cancel that? I so sad now :( That was my goal race!

This thread is funny.

From Lily on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 10:57:53 from 67.199.178.95

So excited your cleared. Curious, did yoga jack your hip er what?

From Lulu Walls on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 11:11:25 from 155.100.212.147

Specifically I blame bending forward in Agnistambhasana (Fire Log Pose) for my hip issue. Unknown to me at the time I had the hip impingement issue, but it never bothered me until I got in this pose really deep in yoga and thought oh no this is really bad and my hip hurt like hell the next day. I blame that moment for all of my hip drama as well as switching from solely trail running to running 3-4 times a week on the road a few months prior :)
