4 x 30 seconds of RUNNING at PT.

After my first surgery I could not wait to get running again and after the last one I have almost no real desire to run to the point that my new PT made me. I just don't feel entirely healed and ready, but my strength and range of motion are nearly equal so everyone's telling me to go for it.

It felt fine, but my heart really isn't in it. What I am trying to figure out is where that lack of desire is coming from. I think part of it is FEAR, that I don't want to do anything to screw this hip up and have to go through yet another surgery. Part of it is ACCEPTANCE, that running may not be part of my life anymore and if I get to a point where I can bike and hike and ski I will be happy. And mostly, I think I am just so darned TIRED of doing clamshells. I am pretty sure a 2-year injury will drain some of the stoke out of even the most STOKED person :)

I honestly cannot even imagine how hard it must be to get back into running. Thinking about when I first started running and could barely run 5 min without dying makes me cringe. I know I am not helping but I guess my point is listen to your heart and don't force running if your heart isn't in it yet. Do what you enjoy and if running becomes something that you want to do then great. But until then just do whatever exercise makes you happy. :)

I need to come up for a hike.

Wise words from this Rachelle woman. :-) The fact that you CAN run a little bit, whether you want to or not, is great news!

this is all understandable -- you have been on a long road. i imagine it feels weird and scary to suddenly have the green light on running. as rachelle said -- don't force it. take your time. enjoy doing whatever you want to do with all that STOKE you have in many different areas.

and if you are ever feeling low on stoke...there is quite a bit in whiskey gelato.
