A couple of wins in small local races. 

I have always been an active person and need to do something physical everyday or I don't feel right. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Mile: 4:40

5k: 16 min (track or honest course)

10k: 33 min

1/2 Marathon: 1:13

Steadily increase my mileage to 60-70 miles a week.

Eventually run a marathon.

Jogged 9 miles on the wood chips at Liberty Park. 8:15 average pace, kept it nice and relaxed. 1.45 miles to the lap

Highlight of the run was when I exited the wood chip lane to pass a guy in cargo shorts and a golf shirt that was probably moving at about 10 minute pace, he looked like he was struggling. I re-entered the wood chip lane and he passed me on the outside and re-entered the wood chip lane and dropped it into gear at somewhere around 7:30 pace. He was able to stay in the lead for about a minute until he tired and I passed him again. Pretty funny.

Jog before bed, 5K loop, didn't plan on running it hard but I felt good after mile one then still had some demons after mile two.

Went 7:00, 6:15, 6:00 (1.1) for a 19:15 5K. Was happy with the effort, the second mile felt fairly easy which is pretty cool cause a year ago it would have been a bit of a grind. Can't wait for the right shin to heal, I have some discomfort in my right foot too. Sorry for the whining. Cooled down for .5

Got a HR monitor yesterday and it was fun to use it on my run today.  Ran 6 easy miles then did two .5 pickups with .5 recovery between each. Did 45 minutes on stationary bike after.

Great morning for a trot. Jogged by Cottonwood High and through Murray. 

The track at Cottonwood High is brand new and they leave it open to the public, unlike those arrogant Olympus folks.

Easy 10K loop after dinner. These slow paces might end up doing me some good, I can tell my body is burning much more fat at 8:30-9 min pace. I've never spent much time running this pace so it feels odd, kind of tough to explain. Definitely going to approach my base building phase differently in the future and not shy away from running more easy miles.
