| | Boot Camp at Sugarhouse Park! I have been looking forward to this workout eversince it was mentioned along our summer agenda. It was hard, I wanted to have a lame excuse to quit, but I ignored my mental pain and made it through the whole workout. We started with a 4 mile warm up, 2 big laps around the park. I ran with Suzette during that. When we got back to the beginning, we all had to run the circuits. Popcorns, stride, jumping jacks, stride, squats, stride, mountain climbers, strides. After one set, we jogged over to one of the pavillions and did step ups on the park tables, 3 sets of 1 minute. After those, we jogged over to a shady spot in the grass for crunches and push ups. 3 sets of 15 push ups and 20 crunches. On the third set of push ups, we had to do this funky thing with our arms, I can't really describe it? Oh well. After that part, we ran around the pond to one of our favorite hills. 2 weeks ago, that hill was very hard. After last weeks hill week, (mainly jcc) this hill is really nothing. After 10 little loops up the hill around the tree and down, we jogged to the drinking fountain. Then we did 3 sets of leg lifts for 30 seconds. At this point I was starting to sing out of insanity. Patrick said he really wished he could punch me. After the leg lifts, we jogged over to where we had ran circuits first, and did another set. After this set, we jogged over to the highland track and found a wall to do wall sits, 15 seconds. After 3 sets of those, we took a short drink break and jogged to the highland bleachers. I think it's called something ladder? I don't know. We would run up one set of small stairs (no skipping stairs) jog to the next set of stairs, run down, jog over, run up, jog over, run down, and sprint back to the first set of stairs. We did this 5 times. After that, we did this wierd thing on the wall, I don't know what it's called. We did 3 sets of 15 though, and on the 15th one of the third set, we wanted to see who could hold it the longest. I almost made it, but my legs were starting to hurt, and my hands too. After that, we went onto the highland track. It is so slippery, I hate it! We did our lunges, and all sorts of our things. We started to sing again, I'll Make a Man out of You. We also did our sound effects for the core stuff we were doing, Emily thought it was obnoxious. But Taylor and Scott made it up, so of course it's obnoxious...:) After that, we ran a 2 mile cool down, one big lap around the park backwards. It was a hard workout, but I'm glad we survived. Good job today, everybody! | Comments(1) |
| | Trail run on pipeline today. I ran out to where there was a sign (on the rattlesnake trail) and a fork in the way. I was at 3.75, so I turned around and came back. I caught up with Patrick on the way back, and passed Delaney and Sarah. After we goofed around in the creek, it was fun. Except somebody (cough cough patrick cough cough) forgot to bring rubber ducks. | Add Comment |
| | Speed workout at the track today. We started out with 2 miles warm up, 1 mile speed changes. 12 laps around the track is really boring. After that, we ran a mile to see how we were doing, I only managed a 6:57, which is awful compared to how close I was to breaking 6 minutes in track season. I HATE TRACK! Anyways, back to XC. After that mile, we ran a 2 lap cool down, followed by an 800 and a 1 lap cool down. Then we did 4 400s (with about a lap cool down in between) After the 400s, we ran a 3 mile cool down. Everybody else went to Sunnyside Park for their cool downs, but I stayed and did big grass loops around the stadium with Patrick, Suzette, and Delaney. We did 3 big loops, and then Suzette and I continued to do 2 more laps on the track to bring our 8.5 up to 9. I'm considering an evening run to get to 10 miles with everybody else...but I took a long nap afterwards, and I just discovered that I've been sleep texting Delaney. Oops. | Add Comment |
| | Sugarhouse park. We were given directions...but Suzette and I didn't understand them very well, and ended up getting lost. We ran up 21st, to Kmart, came back down to Maywood, ran to 27th, down to 15th, over to Pinewood, and back along 19th. I think that's what we did. | Add Comment |
| | Jeremy Ranch today. Run 1 mile warm up out, 1 mile speed, 1/2 recovery, 1/2 speed, 1/2 recovery, 1/2 speed, 1/2 recovery, 1 mile speed, 1/2 recovery. There were cows everywhere, and since Emily was in her car timing, she herded the cows out of our way. | Comments(1) |
| | Run up Gardsmin trail/puke hill today. I ran with Sarah, Patrick, Maggie, and occasionally Michelle. On the way back everybody else passed us. It was a painful run, I kindof understand why it's called Puke Hill now, because I felt so sick after those nasty switchbacks. | Add Comment |
| | Running at Liberty Park today. We ran 2 laps around the park, stretched, did 6 strides, and ran 2 more laps. I felt really sick, bleh. | Add Comment |

Ran a 3 mile warm up, 2 miles with Susannah, 1 mile with Bill, Dakota, Natalie, Taylor, Scott, Luke, and Zack. The start was a cannon, and I freaked out and almost tripped. Cross Country has it's ups and downs, they're called hills. The time was 4 seconds slower than my time at Running of the Leopards, but that was 3.10 miles, this course today was short. I ran a 3 mile cool down with Bill, Dakota, Taylor, Natalie, Scott, and Susannah. In my age group, Susannah got 1st, Natalie got 2nd, and I got 3rd. :)

| | Ran a 4 mile warm up, 2 laps around Sugarhouse today. Then did 5 400s uphill, plus jogging back, that got to 2.5 miles. I ran a 1 mile cool down on the road. Then felt like being anti-social. | Add Comment |
| | Practice was at JCC today. I despise that trail so much, I've decided I never want to run on it. So I picked my JCC alternative: The elliptical at the SLC Sports Complex. I did that for about half an hour, while reading my boring summer reading book, Jane Eyre. After that half hour, I went into the weight room to do some other things. I didn't really want to use the fancy stuff, so I just grabbed 2 weights and did 3 sets of arms, 1 minute with weight, 1 minute without. After that I did a funky thing Bill showed us back in track(I hate track with a burning firey passion.) season. You lift one weight and move it diagonally back and forth while kindof leaning, I don't know how to describe it. After 3 sets of it on each arm, I did 3 more sets of just arms, because Mom wasn't ready to leave yet. Then we went and waited for 1.5 hours at the bottom of the JCC trail for everybody to finish the 14 mile run. So glad I did the elliptical today!! | Add Comment |

| | Started at Sunnyside park. We ran up 8th south to the Zoo, turned right, and onto Wasatch Blvd. I couldn't keep up with anyone except Patrick, so I followed him, giving directions. We were supposed to go on Wasatch blvd until we reached Thunderbird before cutting down to Foothill, but Patti turned down a few streets early but ran into the team, and Bill told us to run back up it and go the other way. When we reached Thunderbird, we ran around looking for the drinking fountain and eventually gave up. Then we ran along Foothill to 13th south, down to 19th east, over to 8th south, and dropped back down to the park where we ate donuts and muffins. It's an okay run...not on my favorites though. | Comments(3) |
| | Liberty park today. Since Susannah and I have a race tomorrow, we did a different workout. I only ran 3 laps around the park. | Add Comment |
