BYU Invite (3.2 Miles) 00:22:01, Place overall: 4, Place in age division: 4 | | Ran a 2 mile warm up, raced the 5K, and one mile cool down. During the race, I ran with a girl from Davis and I was in 5th place for a long time. She kept elbowing me and every time I tried to pass her she sprinted. Eventually she wore down and I managed to get ahead of her. In the last 300, I passed the short Brighton girl, but in the last 100 she outkicked me. I was quite upset. | Add Comment |
| | I have no idea how many miles I really did, so I'm assuming 5. I started at my house, ran a warm up to Sunnyside park, ran at a faster pace for a big lap around the park, along 19th east to Harrison avenue, down to 16th south over to 17th east, up to 17th south, back down to 16th south, and cooled down over to Harrison Avenue and home. It was a nice run. | Add Comment |
| | I love early mornings. We did 1 mile warm up, 1 mile speed changes, 2 300s, stride relays, and 1 mile cool down. My favorite part of that workout was the pancakes, I made mine look pretty. After school we went over our race course. We ran 1.6 mile up to This is the Place Heritage Park, and went over the race course. I barely got past the 2 mile when I realized I was running late, so instead of going up the trail loop again, I went down to the parking lot for Shoreline trail where we usually park to go run. I ran down Sunnyside all the way to the locker room. It was so hot! Bad day to wear black top and bottom. | Add Comment |

East, Stansbury, Bountiful @ East (3 Miles) 00:27:18, Place in age division: 6 | | Our home meet was at This is the Place Heritage Park this year. After a lovely 2 mile warm up...(setting up cones and running) We raced. That course sucks!! :( 2 miles uphill, then 1 mile of mostly downhill but some ups. I don't like Shoreline trail at all, it's the worst place to run! Oh well. Then I ran a mile cool down with the rest of the girls. Congrats to Natalie, for setting the course record :) | Add Comment |

Simple workouts because we have the Murray Invitational tomorrow. Our morning workout was to run up to Sunnyside Park, run 2 big loops, 10 strides, one loop cool down, back to the stadium, and 1 lap around the track for 5 miles. Our afternoon workout was really light, 1 mile warm up, 10 strides, 1 mile cool down. Plus 3 sets of 10 pushups and 30 crunches. | Add Comment |

Murray Invitational 2010 (3 Miles) 00:20:53, Place overall: 138, Place in age division: 3 | | It was the Murray Invitational today. I ran a 3 mile warm up, 3 mile race, and 2 mile cool down. The start of the race was dumb, because our team got squished in the start line. And when the race started, there were so many elbows thrown around. Bill gave us the quote of the day, "God gave you elbows for a reason. Use them." Well the first start a bunch of the girls fell over and created a big heap in the way. 3 of my teammates fell over in that heap. Luckily they restarted that race. But the second race, Amanda and I both tripped and fell, but we knew to stand up and keep going instantly instead of assume that the race was going to restart. I got a PR!! | Add Comment |
| | We started at the East High Stadium. We ran on Sunnyside up to Guardsman, over to 15th east, and over to Sugarhouse Park. We went to our drinking fountain. Then we ran from Sugarhouse Park to Fairmont Park. We stretched, ran 8 strides, and continued along 9th east to 17th south, dropped down to 5th east, and ran up to the Liberty Park drinking fountain on the Southeast corner of the park on 13th south and 7th east. Then we ran to our hill, where we did 3 loops. (6 hills around the flagpole) We ran to 9th south and 7th east, and up. On the way back, Bryson, Mickey, and I stopped at Great Harvest for ice and water. Then we continued up the big hill back up to the stadium. It was a very hot run, and I did not like it at all. | Add Comment |
| | Morning workout we did 6.5 miles. We ran down to Liberty Park and did 2 laps of firemen. Good job to my group, Amanda, Patrick, Caden, Mickey, and Chase. Then we ran back up to the track. The afternoon workout was speed. 1 mile warm up, 1 mile speed changes for everyone. Then we split into groups for seperate things. My group did 2 800s. My first one was 3:03 and my second one was 3:05. Next, Bill sent us to the soccer field to do 10 strides. After those strides, we did 1 mile of cool down. My hip is still hurting from hills week. :( | Add Comment |

East/Tooele@ Stansbury (3 Miles) 00:21:00, Place overall: 4, Place in age division: 2 | | So first of all, I have no idea what my time is, so I just put 21 minutes. I'll correct it later when I find out. When we got there, I warmed up with Natalie and Amanda for about 2 miles. We raced the 5K, I really like that course. The first mile is up the Settlement Canyon road, then you turn right onto the trail, which is really rocky and pretty dangerous. After about 2 and a half miles on the trail, the last half mile is coming down from the trail, looping around this gravel area, running through some tough rocks, through a creek, and to the finish. Good job Natalie, for taking 2nd overall, great job to the rest of the girls! Good job Susannah, for placing 18th...in the boys race. :) For a cool down, I ran with Natalie, Amanda, and Bill up the road again. We found a huge tarantula, it was very scary. I continued to cool down with them, then we grouped with a few others and finished our 4 mile cool down so we could hit 9 miles today. Hitting my miles this week is hard... | Add Comment |

For the morning workout, Varsity ran up Sunnyside Ave to Foothill, over to the corner cafe, up that big hill, and through the U campus to Legacy Bridge. Amanda and I ran it together the whole 5 miles. After Legacy, we went back to the stadium the regular way, cutting through some of the campus and across Guardsmin way. Breakfast was amazing, muffins!!
The afternoon workout was hard. I'm so happy and I feel so accomplished, I managed to keep up with Natalie and Susannah! We ran up Sunnyside, across Guardsmin, cut through U campus, up to Shriners Hospital, up to 11th ave, over to City Creek Canyon, past the Capitol building, down to South Temple, and up. As we went up, we passed what I call the alphabet streets, because there is A street, B street, so on and so forth. I was still with Natalie and Susannah at this point, but it was getting harder and my leg was aching. Eventually at Q street, I couldn't keep up anymore, this was about mile 7. I managed to run from Q street to 1300 south, across the park, and over. At 4th south, Amanda caught up with me, I was glad to have someone to run with! We finished the last bit together. When we got back, the team was cleaning and filling our ice tub. Then lots of people crammed into it. It was a very hard run, and it's been a very hard week, but I'm so glad that I've survived. | Add Comment |
| | Core work...We ran up to Sunnyside, ran a big loop, did some arms and strides. Then our coach made us do some ridiculous core work, the only thing I accomplished was falling over.(Stephie and I climbed a tree!) Then we did a loop cool down and back to the school. | Add Comment |
| | We had a Saturday morning workout at Sugarhouse Park today. We ran a big loop around the park for a warm up, which was 2 miles. Then we ran 1 mile of speed changes on Highland's track. After that, we did a timed mile, I hit around a 6:30, I really don't know. We did a 2 lap recovery for that one, then we proceeded to run 8 400s, each with 1 lap recovery. So far on the track we were at 5.5. We finished with a 2 mile cool down. I have a really really bad feeling about my miles last week compared to this week...and the hip pain... | Add Comment |
| | Today was a Thunderbird run. We started at the track. Varsity ran up Sunnyside all the way to the zoo, JV went along Foothill. Once we got to the zoo, I was running with Maggie. We ran up to Wasatch Blvd. and the run flattened out, it felt amazing to not be running uphill anymore. Once we reached Thunderbird, we continued to the drinking fountain. My hip wasn't hurting today, but my calf was really tight. I stretched it out at the fountain, and it felt slightly better the rest of the run, but it was still tight. | Add Comment |
| | For a morning workout, we did 1 mile warm up, 1 mile speed changes, 10 strides across half the soccer field up Kernodle hill, 1 mile cool down. My hip didn't hurt at all, it was nice. My mom made some very yummy pancakes, and the whipped cream sprayed up instead of down, getting in Suzette's hair. Sorry Suzette! For an afternoon workout, we did 1 mile warm up, 1 mile speed changes. My hip felt okay. Then we did 6 400s each with 1 lap cool down, then 6 J's. My hip killed! My 400 times are just unmentionable, and the wind did not help at all. After I completed my workout, I sat in the ice tub for 20 minutes with Natalie and Dakota to our hips. It felt really nice, minus the fact that people kept doing evil things. I really hope my hip is just my IT bands, and nothing severe.

| | Ran from the stadium our regular rout to the Shriners drinking fountain. Then we ran to the Fire Station on 11th ave by the cemetary, and turned around. I ran with Suzette and Maggie on the way back. My hip didn't hurt so bad, and that big hill on the way up actually felt nice. | Add Comment |
| | Morning workout today. We started at the stadium and did our Sunnyside loop. After the loop, was 6 200's. I like doing my 200s and 400s and other speed things solo, because I don't feel so much pressure and I can run them faster. After those, we did a 1 mile cool down and ate yummy bagels.

Bob Firman Invite 2010 (3.1 Miles) 00:21:21, Place overall: 102, Place in age division: 3 | | We left our Stadium on the bus at about 3 in the morning so we could make it to Boise in time for the Elite Girls race. I ran a mile and a half warm up around the Eagle State Park with the other girls so we could get a look at the terrains on the course. We started in box 5, and as soon as they fired the gun, the song "Hey Mickey" came on. Of course us East girls burst out laughing. I did not like that first stretch of field, the grass was too long and it was very bumpy. It moved on to the dirt, and there was dust everywhere. It was pretty crowded, so I had to use my elbows just in case. The sand wasn't very fun either, but it was the mile mark. I was at a 6:39 at that point, so I decided to keep my pace even and keep passing people. Just before the hill, someone tried to shove me out of her way, some people are so vicious. The second lap was also very dusty, but not as bad because the pack had spread out. When I passed the mile 1 mark again, the timer said 16:40, so I figured it was probably around mile 2 and a half. My cool down was a mile and a half. I ran around the area for a bit, but it was really crowded. Then I met up with Suzette, Maggie, and Amanda. We ran to the park entrance and took pictures by the sign. Then we ran back to our spot. I like having the first race. We got back to East at about 1 in the morning Sunday.

| | I started with a 1 mile warm up around the track. Within the first 100 meters, I had a REALLY bad side cramp. After that mile, I did 1 mile of speed changes, and my cramp didn't hurt so much. After that, I ran a 1200. It felt okay, but then we had to do 12 200s. I made it through 4 200s when Bill decided that it would be better if I did core work. I think it was because I was dehydrated, I hadn't had very much water today. I decided to do some stretching, then 3 sets of 10 pushups, 30 seconds of leg lifts, and 30 crunches. I also did 1 30 second plank. | Add Comment |

5 miles in the morning, 5 in the afternoon. Morning was our regular Sunnyside Foothill loop, then 12 strides for half the soccer field and up Kernodle hill. Finished with a 1 mile cool down. Thanks Papa John for the breakfast!
Afternoon was also a simple run. Up to the zoo on Wasatch Blvd. And down on 13th south to 19th east and back to Sunnyside and East. It was HOT!

Kick Butt (2.96 Miles) 00:22:24, Place overall: 6, Place in age division: 3 | | My warm up was with the rest of the varsity girls and we went over some parts of the course for a little less then 2 miles. Our race plan was for the top 4 of us to run a 6:30 first mile, then back off to about 7:20. We did pretty good for the first little part, but I was in 5th at the first mile and I had a 6:48. I decided to try harder, but my knee started hurting. I managed to pass one Bountiful girl, but along the top part of the park, 2 more Bountiful girls passed me. I tried, but the pain was getting worse. At mile 2, I was at 15 minutes flat. I hated that course, it goes back and forth too much and it seems like it will never end. I sat in the creek for 15 minutes to help my legs, then went on a 3 mile cool down with Suzette. We found a couple of interesting trails to run on, then we ran around the pond. | Add Comment |
| | For our morning workout warm up, we ran to the gulley and did 1.5 laps. It was dark and scary. We went back to the stadium and ran 10 strides on the soccer field, then did a 1 mile cool down. Breakfast Burritos are delicious!!!!!!!! | Add Comment |
