I tried to run today after my morning devotion with my wife and it wasn't pretty.  I started and after ten steps my right heel started hurting and I was limping again so I turned around only after running 100 meters.  Then my wife ahead to work and saw me so she stopped and drove me home the rest of the way. I  ran 500 miles (no I wish).  I ran .24  only 1/4 of a mile for those of you who like math :-).  Oh well my attitude is fine.  I can always quit running and eat and get fat.  :-). After getting home I did around 100 push-ups and 300 sit-ups.   Would swimming be the best exercise right now to burn calories and keep the aerobic fitness going?

My plan is to cross train until Friday and then maybe try to run 16 miles with Barry (on the blog).  There's a definite pain there with the same symptoms as I had on the other foot.   I was starting to get back in the mindset of increasing my mileage back up  to 80 to 100 miles per week and this happens.   Maybe the Lord doesn't want me to race anymore, or he's telling me something.

Hi again Kory. During my times dealing with injury I found spinning/cycling and stair climbing to be the best x-train options. I didn't use the pool simply due to access and time constraints, but I've heard pool running is a great replacement. I will also add that I made my x-training moderate or hard. I didn't take it easy because I was preparing for G-ma's. I replaced 50-60% of my running with x-training and set a PR at G-ma's. I seriously thought about dropping more serious money into a really nice road bike and taking up cycling. I knew a cat. 2 rider who was trying to talk me into cycling. I think that would be fun, but again more time consuming. He went on 5-6 hr treks every Sat. Anyway, don't get bummed out and embrace this as an opportunity to try something new like cycling or swimming. The road will always being waiting for your return.
