I got home this morning  at 2:30am from  work and was woke up around 8:50am by the wonderful phone.  I couldn't go back to sleep so I worked for an hour from home to make sure everything was okay on what we did last night.  Then I left for a run.

Today I wanted to do a two mile MP run in my marathon shoes.  This is something I always do on a Wednesday before a marathon.  My confidence level for the Provo Marathon race is really low right now because of the lack of speed work.  Also, our family has had other priorities that have been more supreme than running a marathon.  Bad thing about doing mp miles  today is the amount of sleep I've been deprived of, and I was feeling worn down being up late every night this week.

I did a good 3 mile warm-up averaging around a 6:58 pace then I started the MP miles.

Mile 1:  6:06   (flat) Felt really good in a headwind the whole way.

Mile 2:  5:55 (flat with a .2 uphill and .1 downhill)  In the headwind and did feel like I was struggling so I guess that's good.  I had other things I was thinking about so I didn't really focus on how I felt.  The hill portion was challenging to stay on pace.

Mile 3:  6:31 (cooldown)   Was done so I thought. But the next mile I decided to do another MP mile.

Mile 4: 5:51 (flat)  This didn't feel difficult and I felt in control.  I was focusing on keeping my hands to the side with not much arm pumping.  I run faster this way.

Mile: 5  6:19 (flat cooldown)  Okay a little fast for a cooldown not sure but I felt I was running slower.

This was definitely a confidence builder for Saturday and know I leave it in the hands of God.  I have trained hard and God will honor that when I call upon him.

Going to keep a food log for next three days just to have it for my history for intake three days before a marathon.

What's your marathon pace? I wish you the best of luck, and it makes me feel good that you give the glory to God.

I like your target pace for Saturday, right about where I am shooting for...but I hate to break it to you but that is faster than 2:45! You, me and Walter, let's go get 2:35 or better!

From Kory on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 09:23:32 from 24.116.159.75

Jeff - I'm ready lets do it! What do we have to lose.

Sam - I was full on the half apple.

Let's rock and roll and just have some fun (weather permitting). Hopefully the weather will be cool in the morning with no wind or rain (holding off until the afternoon which may make 7 Peaks water park a no go!).

Kory, Good luck Saturday!

Jeff - the way the weather is the 7 peaks park might be too cold and raining. Which will close it for the day. Have to find something else to do for the kids.

Kory, Eat more.. Really pack it in. Just my two cents. I'm eating like a pig right now. Anything and everything I can get my hands on.

From Kory on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 16:54:17 from 134.50.89.55

Steve if you eat high carb foods you don't have to eat too much. I'm eating small meals which I believe is the better approach.

Sam - My mixture is good. First I heat the jam in the microwave. Then I stir the oatmeal and cereal then I heat for another 20 seconds. Then I add raisins or honey if I feel like it. Then spread it on a heated bagel. It's wonderful

I know half-apple LOL.
