I ran .4 mile warm-up this morning testing new shoes out to run in
(Avia Lites II) and was also waiting for Barry to come and pick me up.
Barry and I drove up to the Hospital and ran the 10k Heart and Soul
city race course that will be held next month. It's very hilly. We
just ran the 6 mile course easy. The last 1.5 miles is uphill and this
is where Barry and I split apart.
Then I decided to do a 3 mile tempo: mile 1 5:32 (mostly downhill) very easy and really wasn't pushing the pace. mile 2 5:38 (flat) very easy and felt good. I should have pushed harder.
Mile 3: 5:54 (flat) felt good but the last .2 I could tell I was getting a little tired and losing some form. Then I ran the rest of the miles how I felt (6:57, 6:39, 6:50, 6:26) all on a flat route. All in all I was happy with the tempo knowing I ran 21 miles yesterday. Totals 13.60 miles at an overall 6:37 pace in 1:30. Note: I've had four pairs of Avia Lites Model 1 and Model 2 is just has good. I would recommend Avia shoes to anyone. Their very durable up to 500 miles.
