This morning it was icy and it was snowing a bit again which made it another fun morning run.  Although the temperature was warmer than yesterday at 18 degrees so that made the run more pleasant.   I ran 8.5 miles in 1:03.  My knees were a little sore on the run, but that was to do with the cuts on the knees from the fall yesterday.  Although,  my Abductor muscle really hurt in the run this morning.  When I fell for the second time yesterday I did the splits, and I felt something uncomfortable near the groin area when I got back up.

My foot doesn't feel too bad this morning, but it's not 100% either after the run.  I still need to be careful coming back.  I might not run tomorrow.

I'm seriously considering not running any races this year.  I don't know if I want to be gone so many weekends without my family again.  If I do run any marathons I will only do two this year.

I believe God's trying to tell me to cut back on my running and focus in other areas in my life that I've neglected.

Lunch

I did 300 sit-ups and 100 push-ups.  I've really increased my sit-ups and push-up lately, but I still have spaghetti arms and not a very toned belly.

The last time I read your blog it was when your ran the SGM. Do you fall down a lot or just whenever I happen to read your blog? Nice job on the situps and pushups. I thought I was doing good with 10 pushups and 40 situps. (Actually, I knew I wasn't doing good.) If you think God is trying to tell you something, I would definitely go with that feeling.

Burt - It seems I've become a complete clown lately and can't stand up straight. No, usually I don't fall down at all. STG someone tripped me from behind, and yesterday was my own fault for running on icy roads which was not the smartest move.

I do feel that slowing down the running is a good thing this year, and focusing on other things in life.

Kory - glad to see you are feeling better. Sometimes all the body needs is a little bit of rest. As for other aspects of life I agree that sometimes it is hard to put something we as runners hold so dear on the back burner, but the way I see my life, it's like a great big dinner and I'm the chef. I have to get things in order by the end so we can all eat on time, but that requires putting some things in the oven, some in the microwave, and sometimes letting things simmer a bit longer while I work on another masterpiece.

In short, you are a gifted runner, dad, and friend and I know you have much to give in all aspects of your life. You will see that you won't lose much fitness in scaling back training a bit, and who knows, sometimes people even see huge PRs come about off of lower mileage ;P

Kory,

You give as good advice as anyone on this blog. My thoughts are keep your prayer life active, dig deep to assess your own situation, and then discipline yourself to listen to your own advice. If you can do that, no question you will come back a wiser and stronger runner. My own concern is that you might be doing damage (yet I'm not a doctor and I can't feel your pain level). Anyway, prayers are still with you and be careful.

Benn - Thanks for the comments. The break was good for the body and mind. But after yesterdays fall's my body is a wreck. I've got pain in the knee and near the groin so I need to be careful. It's my own fault when I knew I should have ran inside. I don't feel sorry for myself when it was an act of stupidity. Thanks again for your kind comments.

Rockness - I'm glad my advice has helped. I should practice what I preach. Your truly a friend, and your spiritual advice has helped. I need to get back to preaching which I was doing frequently until I lost my focus. What's really helped is my wife and I have started reading the bible together every morning before work and running. This is the way my life should always be like.

There's a comment that I once heard by a great man of God, but I most have lost that thought recently. He said "Everything you do or say must point to Jesus". If it doesn't what good is it.

Kory, It looks like your prayers have paid off. From less than two miles in pain to over eight miles feeling good! As far as racing goes... Your mind, body, (and wife) will let you know when you are ready for that again. For now get some of those snow shoe adapters to keep you upright :)

Amen to that quote - Kory.
