Ran with the Beautiful Babes group this morning and did 3-5ks. First one was a warm up. Second at a 7 something pace and third was at a 5:45 pace.  I did something to my neck and cant turn to the left, only the right.  So it took me a while to get home after because I could only make right hand turns.  It was dark and a bit brisk this morning.  If my neck felt better, I would have pushed myself to a 5:30 pace on my last 5k for sure.

Walter great run and speed. I'm going to predict your next Marathon going to be a huge PR.

Do you have time to answer a concrete question. If yes, then I will explain the issue in the next message, or would you like me to email you privately.

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 15:09:12

Great job Walter. Sorry about the neck---go get a massage! I bet you slept on it weird. Good thing you do not have to turn your head while you are running to see where the rest of us---you already know most of us are WAAAY back there! And i am amazed you made it home at all...

Hey, shall I tell Dean and Scott, and those other two guys whose names I do not know that they are beautiful babes??

From Walter on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:11:23

Kory, you bet, just send me a message or give me a call. My number is at the bottom of my blog. I hope to finish a marathon like you. If I can then Ill be up there in the 2:30 group. God speed. Are you going to do SGM?

From walter on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:14:54

Kelli, whatever I didnt have to wait long for your slow butt! oops i mean butte. Yes definitely tell Dean and Scott they are beautiful buds! Hows that. If that sounds too homophobic tell them they are beautiful bods! Better yet, thats even worse. Best keep it at butte kickers.

From wheakory on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:16:37

Thanks Walter. The way you run you have a 2:30 in you. I was accepted to get in the SGM, and I'll I need is a place to stay.

Here's my Friends question

Basically, here is my problem. My dog turned on my faucet and the hose was up by the house and window well and steps. The ground got so saturated that the window well filled to about 2 feet and the water went into the basement. While bucketing the water out of the windows well, I could see water running in from about 18 inches above the water line. In the morning I had noticed that the pad below the steps had settled about 4-5 inches. So the stairs have remained where the were, but the only place they are touching is on the front of the steps :-( . I am concerned about the weight of the stairs and as a temporary fix at least have considered pushing concrete under the stairs between the stairs and the pad. That way if the stairs settle, they will have something under them to distribute the weight. I then thought about cleaning off the concrete pad that had settled back to ward the house, creating a form to create a slope away from the house and filling it with concrete after putting a coating of concrete glue on it to help the old and new concrete bond.

I am hoping that this would at least get me through the winter until I can decide what I want to do. Tear it all out and build a deck, or remove all the concrete and pour a new pad and stairs.

From walter on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:40:54

Kory, usually when they pour stairs they will tie rebar into the foundation to help hold it up. If you have a hammer drill, start on one of the stairs at the edge of where it hits the house, or foundation, drill at a 45 degree angle so you go through the step and into the foundation. 8 inches is good. Then take a #4 (1/2") piece of rebar and hit it into the hole until it hits the end. You can use an epoxy but you'll have to drill a 5/8" hole so the epoxy will bond with the 1/2" rebar. Then Grind the excess part of the rebar flat and then put some concrete patch to cover that. I would do every other stair. It wont move with rebar conected. If you have a camera, take some pics and send me them and I can get a better idea. Water is so destructive. That sucks. Let me know. See you.
