Ok I woke up late this morning but still managed to get down to Parkway Palisades to do a run with the BB group.  They had a great showing this morning!  We warmed up a few miles then did 4x1 mile repeats on so trecherous hills.  First one was 6.58, second was 6.31, third was 6.14 and I missed the last one.  Then we did 3 hill repeats and finished off with a cool down.  Then I ran a couple extra miles with Peggy.  A nice workout for running just a few hours before that!  I was very tired at the first and then warmed up after 5 miles.  It took forever.

I am glad you called those "trecherous" hills. I cannot think of a better way to describe them. I only wish there was a way to let everyone know how tough they were. You did an awesome job!

From Lucia on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 10:51:31

Dude, you're a man on a mission! 18 yesterday, 12 already this morning... Aren't hills so fun?

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 10:56:05

Jody Yes, I ran 1000' elevation climb last night and then when I saw those hills this morning it made me depressed at first but I fought through it just like all you guys and will benefit from it.

I got to tell you Lucia, trying to make up for your lost mileage is wearing me out! Would you hurry up and get healed already!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 11:42:32

It always takes me 5 miles to warm up, seriously. That is just when I get going (aside from when some crazies decide to run up big hills over and over---then I never warm up).

I bet you have messed up on your calculations. I think you missed the first one because I ran with you, didn't I?? I am so super tired, maybe I am wrong---but didn't I?? There is no way I ran 6.58 (unless I do not know what that means). Nope, not a chance. You probably forgot that one and those 3 times are repeats 2-4.

Please, do not run any more today. You will make me sick!

From JD on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 11:58:51

Nice workout Walter. You are really putting in a lot of miles. Hey, I see that you're helping Lucia out by runnin' some miles for her, would you mind adding just a couple of more miles a day for me? I'm just getting started and am only up to 35 a week. I figure if you do two a day for me, I'll be up to 50 a week in no time! Thanks man.

From peggy on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 13:54:42

It was nice having you there to really push me up the hills today, Walter. I haven't looked at my watch to compare with what you said, but if your times are right, that's probably the fastest I've ever done them (and I've done them a lot). Thanks for pulling me along!

From paula on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 15:48:58

You did a great run today. It was nice to run with the group today!

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 17:06:34

JD- As much as Id like to add more miles for other bloggers we'll just have to see! Lucia was doing so good this year and then bam, stress fracture! You'll have to fight her on some quality miles ok!? Your miles are fine keep up the great work!

Peggy, I may have run closer to 13 miles this morning, what did you have for total miles. I actually was just trying to stay with you on those (swearing) hills! I actually felt better on the third one and then those little strides woke me up finally. I cant tell you enough how much you amaze me. Your a machine!

Paula, its good you put in the effort and please dont worry because my first time doing these I was dusted! So look what you have in your future. You are a trooper!

Kelli, your right I forgot to start my watch on the first one so now that ive ruined your expectations jk you are a mountain goat! no offense, Im a little jealous that you and scott have some difficulty in running from your house, Day break hill is 2 miles from my house and everything else is flat so your like the kenyans! You live in a mountainous region at a higher elevation so you come down to our flatlands and dominate! Wink wink

From Julie on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 17:31:48

Great job today. I can't believe how fast you are. I think I was able to keep up with you and Peggy for about 3 seconds today.

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 17:51:49

So that was you nipping at my heals huh? It was more than 3 seconds you goofball! You did fine today. Its fun running with you and getting to know you. Even though I was a little unsocial. Maybe this blog will help. Your group helps me believe it or not. Hope to see you more.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 18:08:35

You were unsocial?

AND OH BROTHER!!!! I am not mountain goat! I run hills where I live, yes, but I run them nice and slow and not over and over---although I guess that should be my new goal!

Now I am so depressed that I did not run that whole mile under 7 minutes!! You have crushed me. KIDDING---I knew you messed up there because there is no way I can even run that FLAT, let alone up some big mountain!

On a different not, my husband has called me 3 times to tell me he is sorry for not coming and that he wishes he had. I see a run in my future this evening.

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 18:19:03

Wow Kelli, you may just bust out some good miles today if you run with him tonight. Dont forget to count your walking miles. Honestly miles are miles.

From Jill on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 21:32:06

nice work wal-zo, as usual. i saw Lucia today- your workouts for her are helping. She seemed content about the miles you are putting in for her, but did complain a little about the pace. She would like you to pick it up a little bit - can ya? Kidding... you rock. Nothing more to say! usain lightning bolt is on in like 7 minutes.. i gotta run to see that!

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 22:00:51

Jill, Ill have to work on your nick name. You were so close to getting a couple of free lunches, what happened? We all go into remission sometimes. I forgive you. So if I lower my miles and increase my speed you think Lucia will be acceptive? lol Thats cool, I forget that those states are so close together to be in another state and eat lunch with someone from a different state amazes me. Thats East coast living my friend! I cant wait to come out there in a couple of months. What exactly is a wal-zo?

From Lucia on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 22:26:03

Ha! Good one Jill!

Yeah, it's hard to get used to living in 3 states all the time - if you're on your cell phone driving into DC from Virginia you have to hang up cause it's illegal! Also Maryland people don't know how to drive... but you'll be in Boston, where all the rude people live anyway ;)

From walter on Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 22:48:00

Yeah and in Boston they dont have seperation for lines and I was honked at more than ever for hogging up two lanes. It was wicked insane. I think the horn is the boston greeting!

OH MY GAWD walter, THIS is the dreadful cryo cuff? My husband would divorce me if I wore this thing around the house... would I need to get velcro sneakers too?

From walter on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 10:53:52

Its not as bad as it looks! It works good and you can actually get a pump for it to push the water through it so you can have constant cold. I guess the traditional bag of ice or a steak would work too. Fine mock me, Do you have velcro sneakers? lol you crack me up! where do you easterners get that warped sense of humor? jk I love it! Where did you grow up at?

From jill on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 11:17:16

Boston!!! Where accoring to Lucia the drivers are terrible. I don't know walzo, the boot may be a little much.. we will see how much I am hurting after more ice! This makes for a good "would you rather" game... I would rather wear wear bright white velcro sneakers in public for the next 5 years, than use the cryo cuff (with beneficial pump) for one day. Ha! Yeah, I am teasing you... but I am serious about the ugly boot.

From walter on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 11:39:04

Ok Jill, maybe you can paint some pretty flowers on it or little runners crossing the finish line. lol Im with Lucia, Boston driving is insane. I considered myself pretty agressive till I drove there. So I guess Ill be getting you some sneakers huh? What size do you wear and where do I send them! I dont know if youve noticed the NBA basketball bench during a game but, they have them there on the bench to ice the players. I know your kidding through all that sarcasm so Im going on a mission for ugly white velcros from payless shoe store. remember 5 years is a long time!
