Its begining to look alot like Christmas! Everywhere I run!

So I went to the start of the park trail at 123rd and ran south 4 miles and there were alot of deer crossing in front of us. I ran with Danielle and Misty and Charity ran together. The snow was about 2-4 inches thick and the bridges were about 8-10 inches thick.  It wasnt too bad until mile 3.5 on when we got cilose to Bluffdale we had to post hole run, when you sink and lift. Wow what a workout that was. My legs are thrashed. With a quarter mile to go I left Danielle and tried to run a solid 6 min mile pace or so and it hurt like h e double hockey sticks! Theres no speed workouts planned for me for a while.  Ran 8 miles total. Saw alot of wildlife, and Snowmobile and atv tracks. My feet are soaking wet, Ironically im going to go take a shower. See ya

You are back at it strong! Way to go. Hope to see you Tuesday with the BBK's:)

From Jody on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:19:00

Another good comeback run! Hopefully we will see you Tuesday!

From walter on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:23:26

Michelle, I still am leary of running with you fast buttkickers. I tried running faster and it hurt bad! Ill try to make it out ok? Cant promise anything. Thanks for your comments.

Jody, If my doctor knew I was up to 20+ miles she would freak! She just told me to do a little bit. I think in her mind 1-2 miles a week would be a little. She doesnt understand I was going out 2 times a day. So technically this is a little for me. ha ha. Thanks for the comments.

From Michelle N. on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:28:20

Don't worry Walter, we aren't running fast at all. I think we are only doing 8:30's typically so you'll be perfect:)

From seeaprilrun on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 12:47:39

I like that term "post hole running"--that about describes it! Way to go. That is some hardcore winter running--ESPECIALLY for someone recovering from major surgery!

From walter on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:05:55

Michelle, Ill try getting up at 5 ugg! That is really my pet pieve right now. I cant see who im running next too and it freakin freazing!

April, I was imitating your run you did this past week. I was actually hoping for the storm to hit us this morning. But we had just the snow on the ground to deal with. Danielle and I were talking about getting some snow shoes and trying some deep snow workouts. That would be fun!

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:14:43

Good runnin' Walter. I wondered how those trails would be, wish they would get on an ATV and plow them like they do in Herriman! LOVE HERRIMAN!

From walter on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:17:33

Kelli, I know, it gave me an idea to ask Riverton city how much theyll pay me to scrape them. I thought you lived in Riverton? Is it or not?

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:19:26

I live in Riverton, I run in Herriman. We are about 2 streets away from Herriman. Half of our ward lives in Herriman! We do like Riverton, we get secondary water for our grass, but Herriman rocks when it comes to plowing and keeping the roads nice.

From walter on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:22:06

They probably dont plow your road and herrimans get plowed nice huh?

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:24:55

In 3 winters in this house our road has NEVER been plowed once.

From walter on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:26:11

Well, if you own a snowmobile or atv it would be fun to pull your kids arond on! (Im trying to be positive) ha ha

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:27:11

If I owned one of those things, it would be fun, YES!!! However, the rest of the neighborhood does, so they do the job for me while I stay warm inside!

From walter on Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 16:29:25

Good for you! Funny, So next time just get a ski rope and tie on to them! ha I can picture Kelli out there rippin it up!

Thanks Tina, I went downtown tonight to Temple square. It was nice! We do it every year but this year seamed alot better. Not as stressful.

From Ginger Chinn on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 14:16:23

Hi Walter, Thanks for the encouragement on my blog. This is a great way to connect with runners.

From walter on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 14:23:38

From Matt on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 18:46:09

Walter,

I saw your name onf the list of people running the Canyon Land Half. I didn't know if that was an automatic because of how you did last year or what. So are you planning on that one or not?

From walter on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 18:48:48

Thats a must run for me every year. I really like it. How bout yourself? You going to brave it?

From Matt on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 19:55:02

My check cleared so I guess that means I am in. I thought it would be a good Boston tune up. It will be a first for me.

From walter on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 21:56:59

Matt, im sure your in! I like the course and its an early year race which is definitely a nice warm up for races to come.

From Teena on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 21:59:23

Walter,

How is the pain today?

From walter on Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 22:29:49

I woke up with some sore calf muscles! I was a bit sore but Ibuprophen 800s seemed to help.
