Hang in there, Sparky! Your blog title is "I run therefore I am!" so when you're not running I imagine you feel like you "aren't." But try to stay positive. I'm sure you'll be back and faster than ever :)

Any idea how much longer you are supposed to take it easy?

From Camille on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 11:26:33

Walter - keep posting... We *WANT* you to keep posting!!! I'm also curious as to how long your recovery is suppose to last.

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:16:23

Rachel, Thanks you are so right! Im not right now therefore Im not! You make me laugh with the sparky thing! It makes me feel like a stud! Even though I have no feeling down there right now. lol

Camille, Its good to be wanted! Ok I went for a 2 miler today. JK I wish! I think Ill try walking a mile in 1 week how does that sound. Right now walking from my house to get in my vehicle is enough pain.

From Camille on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:20:58

Walter - don't push yourself too much, because that will only lengthen the recovery time. :o( Not something you want to hear though, I'm sure. Silver lining - you get to watch fun movies and come up with new quotes now with your extra time. And, you get to hang out with Misty and those 3 beautiful girls of yours.

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:37:45

You know the trouble with hanging out with my girls is my 6 year old loves to wrestle with me and she can kick my butt now! Im too busy protecting my wounds! They are a handful though! Im sick of watching movies! I have watched more tv in the last 3 weeks than Ive done my entire married life. Thats no lie!

From Camille on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:39:03

Okay... new silver lining... do you enjoy reading?

From kungfublonde on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:43:20

You just totally cracked me up, Camille :)

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:46:05

I actually just read the book "Heres a Story" by Maurine McCormick. The Marsha Brady story. It was pretty good. She had a marked life.

From Camille on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 13:12:33

hmmm... sounds interesting. I've been reading brainless who-dun-it recently. Infact, I just finished the Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. It had some yummy recipes in it. LOL

Rachel - 0:o)

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 14:10:04

Okay, I am currently reading James Patterson books. I am on the 5th Horseman. This series is awesome and a quick read. If you like murder mystery, you'd like these. Hope you're feeling good!

From Camille on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 14:11:17

I like James Patterson. I also like Vince Flynn. If you haven't read any of his, I recommend Transfer of Power. It's pretty good.

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 14:13:21

I haven't read Vince Flynn. After I finish this series, I'm on to the Twilight series, then I'll have to check that out.

From Lucia on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 16:11:34

Yeah, tell us how much you've gained since your surgery, that'll make us feel good :)

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 20:29:22

Camille, a book about a chocolate killer with a chocolate chip cookie recipe in it!? Are you kiddin me? Brilliant!

Michelle. You had me at hello. You lost me with James Patterson.

Lucia, 139.5 lbs and I dont think Ill be gaining anymore. Ive plateaued right now. so I figure in a couple of weeks Ill drop it like its hot. My running weight usually flucuates between 128 and 132. I am on my feet more now so it helps me burn off any extras.

From kungfublonde on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 20:32:22

Ok Sparky, try the book "Stiff." It's weird for sure, but it's so INTERESTING! Do you have a strong stomach? Check it out :)

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 20:42:22

I dont have a strong stomache Rachel. Just look up my youtube video of Del sol last year. Although it was filmed mostly in the dark, you can hear most of us puking at the end of our runs. Its the fast running blog team. Its funny.

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 20:48:18

Where do I look that up? I need to see that one you big pansie!

From jefferey on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 20:49:26

Why not try reading one of the all time classics like "The Count of Monte Cristo". It's pretty thick but it's pretty much the best fiction book ever!

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:15:16

You know I was just trying to look it up myself Michelle and its not on you tube anymore. Steve Hooper (St. George Running Center owner) used to have it on his website too! Ill have to find it for you. The story goes, I was in the first Van and after we finished our first run, we decided to get a subway sandwich and almost all six of us lost it on the second run. In the video, Logan came in when it was pitch dark thank goodness, and steve went over to him with the camera and was saying what is your splits per mile? He said 4:50 per mile and as we were all yelling and screaming, you can hear him in the background barfing his subway sandwich. Then Clyde got up after him and I was next. I went to my station and while I was waiting for Clyde to come in I could see two headlights coming in and I was trying to hear the lady tell me the numbers coming in when I heard some major barfing going on! I knew it had to be him and sure enough when he got to me he passed off to me and when I finished I found him and asked what happened. He told me as he was getting closer to the finish he was starting to choke and dry heave and a girl in front of him asked which way are you going to puke and he ended up puking on her partially and then ran into the finish and after he handed off to me he kept running to the van so the girl didnt know who he was. If you want to look up the history of what happened to clyde, go back to February and look up del sol relay in the race column. Soo funny! There are a ton of funny things that happened that I could write a book about! Clydes, Logans, and Sashas are the funniest.

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:18:13

Wow! Now that sounds like good times:) Run until you puke! I almost puked at hobblecreek but held it in. Maybe someday I'll actually run hard enough to puke.

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:18:19

Jeffery, Yes I should definitely be reading more than watching useless crap on the boob tube. I actually find the Discovery channel and History the best stations.

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:23:23

Michelle, We were on a mission to win my friend! I may not be the fastest runner in the world right now, but I tell you that day we were so focused and everything just happened to fall into place and on the ground for that matter. We WERE Professional Runners! When you beat the course record by 1 hour and 7 minutes, you have something to puke about! lol

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:27:00

So, I read Clyde's race report and was laughing really hard. Logan's wasn't quite as funny. He wasn't as discriptive. I can just imagine that poor girl thinking she is going to get barfed on by this crazy fast guy. Too funny.

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:28:17

Oh, and I tried to look at your report but I guess you weren't on the blog then or didn't report. I don't know which.

From Michelle N. on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:30:34

Doh, nevermind I found it. You weren't very discriptive either. You ought to go back and edit that.

From walter on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 23:35:06

I did a lame report on March 1st and didnt give out any details. Ill let you know the other one in person or private email because I dont want to get kicked off here just yet.

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 00:12:02

ok well I just got the scoop on your AZ ragnar relay and all I can say is that your team is going to be no fun without me. Well, you'll have fun with Misty but that's it. Oh... and Kelli is super fun... who else is on the team? All the cool kids??

Nevermind. You're going to have a totally awesome time without me.

-lame!-

From walter on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 00:15:00

We can put you on the reserve list if someone backs out! I tell you what. You get into the Hood to coast and get me on the team and Ill be your friend forever!

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 00:16:53

aw, you'll be my friend forever anyway, Sparky :)

But what is the Hood thing? Post a link or something- help a blonde out!

From walter on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 00:22:19

http://www.hoodtocoast.com/ Very fun! It fills up fast though!

Hey I just thought of a good idea. You know, Moab half marathon is in march 21, 09 and its open to register now so you can come party with us then. I usually rent a house and make a party out of it. http://www.moabhalfmarathon.org/halfm/halfm.html

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 00:26:38

Oh, my uncle and brother live in Portland, and my uncle is one heck of a runner! Maybe next year :)

Amanda has dance season in the spring- we do a lot of traveling for competitions. But if I'm free that weekend I'll see what I can work out. Who all would be there? Would I be the only person without a spouse present? Are any kids going?

From walter on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 00:35:57

See how this blog brings everyone closer! lol Yeah, I usually have a group with me and take my kids down there. Its fun and the house has a bbqer and tvs to keep the kids quiet. You are more than welcome to come and join in.

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:12:32

Mike, wanna come home and do this? You can watch the kids while I run- hahahahaha! Ok, we both know it would be the other way around.

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:26:51

Hey, I didn't realize that all of you were on the some Ragnar Team! We definitely need to have an after ragnar party (just promise not to barf on me!!!) I'm so excited about Ragnar... I should heal in time, right?

Walter - yep, the book was about a woman amueture detective who owns a cookie store... and the author put a bunch of recipes in the book. I'm going to try them all, just haven't had the chance.

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:28:47

Everyone but me and Mike, Camille. Poor poor us, right??

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:30:28

Yeah... I feel like I'm an outcast now. :o(

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:31:12

why? Aren't you on a team?

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:32:44

me? nope. But I did manage to talk Burt into letting me on his team

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:33:33

I need to add that I *DID* infact have to talk him into it. Apparently I am not fast enough for him. :o( He was a little stinker at first. But I forgive him (I guess)

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:33:48

...so then you ARE on a team. ?

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:35:19

you'll be fast by then. And just for that, you need to be even faster than Burt. New running goal :)

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:37:49

I'm a dork, I read that wrong. I read it as "You are on the team" meaning the cool people team. Well, Lybi was on our team and she won't be able to run... so we have an opening... just a thought.

LOL there are two ways to be faster than burt. One requires effort on my part, the other involves a baseball bat!

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:39:51

I could get there easily, but I'm sure Burt would never let me on the team. If YOU had to talk him into it, then there's no way he'd go for slow, internet stranger getting on.

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:41:11

well, if we vote Burt off the team, there will be room for both you AND Mike... or that cute speedy daughter of yours. :o)

*Sorry Burt, you have to go*

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:42:58

Mike won't be back, otherwise he could just be on the team. But Maddy is super fast! She'll be 13 by then, is that old enough? Shoot, I'll make a team of my own then- I know a BUNCH of speedy 7th graders! :) Wanna be on the cool girl team, Camille?

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 12:53:51

Woo-Hoo!!! I know that teams with highschoolers is way cheaper than the typical teams, but I don't know the age requirements.

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 13:08:26

To be honest, I'm not sure how many parents would let me take their kids to Arizona for a race like that (two would for sure...) so don't ditch Burt yet :)

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 13:09:58

LOL After all that begging and grovling I did, I'd be really sure before I jumped ship on Burt.

From Camille on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 13:10:55

My friend Bethany is on the team (she is faster than I am)... I'm more afraid to leave her than Burt. I'm pretty sure she could take me!

From walter on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 21:58:50

Ok I hope I didnt create bad feelings telling about the ragnar relay openings. I was not trying to leave anyone out! Rachel good vibes sent your way. Camille, You also, and I figured you'd be on a team since its your backyard.

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 22:13:48

No silly, no bad feelings :)

Next time you will know better and plan your life around me, right?

Ragnar is new to me and the idea is so fun that I got all excited about it. But I probably won't be really running until late summer anyway. I mean I can start before then, but it will take me that long to be decent at it.

From walter on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 22:39:08

Cheer up and do what you can to recoup. Youll find youll be at it quicker than a whipper snapper! That hood to coast relay is one ive wanted to do for a long time. We could make a go at it for next year possibly?

From kungfublonde on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 22:55:35

Yes, but I think you will have to let my crazy husband and uncle on the team. And Uncle Mark is FAST (... so he might not want me! LOL)

From walter on Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 23:20:16

Heck yeah, just leave a spot for me and maybe Misty.

From kungfublonde on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 00:41:55

Or for Misty and maybe you ;)

From walter on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 00:51:28

Ok women first. Good crap, not you too? lol

From kungfublonde on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 00:52:43

Can't help it Sparky, at heart I'm just one of the girls!

From walter on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 00:55:18

Thats all you have. I live with all girls and its all I can to keep my masculinity. Yeah thats a word!

From kungfublonde on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 12:21:49

Why do you think Mike works out ALL the time? He has to keep it butch around all us girlie girls. Even the pets are girls! The rabbit is a boy, but he's little and fluffy so not sure if that counts. And the neutered cat counts as a girl, too.

From walter on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 18:23:00

Rachel, I hear you there. And I just had to change my undies because I peed laughing at what you said. Ohh

From Burt on Sat, Nov 22, 2008 at 10:08:17

Whoah, whoah, whoah. What's all this talking about me behind my back??? You can't kick me out of the band. I'm the team captain!! I brought us together.

From kungfublonde on Sat, Nov 22, 2008 at 10:43:14

Timely entry into the conversation, Burt :) I think you're safe.

From Michelle N. on Sat, Nov 22, 2008 at 17:26:46

Hmmm, I'm just going to comment again in hopes of taking you back up to the top of the list. Our other GREAT conversation isn't there anymore and another one of Sasha's contraversial (sp?) ones is, so....here's to getting you back on top:)

From walter on Sat, Nov 22, 2008 at 17:44:21

No no no, i dont have anything to prove. We'll just prove ourselves on race day alright!?

From kungfublonde on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 00:13:30

I do all my "proving" on the dance floor. (*finger snaps and hand waving like Walter did in his other blog at Kelli*)

From walter on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 01:44:12

yeah baby yeah! (one hand on the bull rope, the other hand waving violently above my head)

From kungfublonde on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 01:49:21

I look funny

but yo I'm makin' money see

so yo world I hope you're ready for me.

Now gather round

I'm the new fool in town

and my sound's laid down by the Underground.

Nice Digital Underground you dropped on Michelle's blog :)

From montelepsy on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 08:45:50

My spin instructor plays Digital Underground and George Michael. I think he may be a woman. I big buff scary woman.

From montelepsy on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 10:13:30

I meant "One big buff...". I hope that wasn't Freudian.

From Lucia on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 10:25:25

My spin instructor plays country music, whassup wit that?... I need to find a new spin class to go to...

From montelepsy on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 10:45:33

If you were in charge of the music what would you play?

From walter on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 11:39:58

Rachel, too funny. Im really not makin money. lol

Mike that is scary! Boy George is a little too calm to be playing at a spin class. I would definitely worry about that! lol

Lucia, take a cowboy hat with you next time to spin and see if the instructor gets the hint! ha ha, my spin instructor would always play that disney tecno pop and it would be hard to not laugh while I was spinning. Funny

From walter on Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 11:44:52

Mike if I were in charge of the music, I would have some Cars-summer, Def leopard-pour some sugar on me, Billy Idol-hot in the city. then id get a couple easy songs, then pour it on too some hard rock again. 80's seem to be the best for spin I think. lol

From montelepsy on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 04:22:59

I agree wholeheartedly, Walter.

From Lucia on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 08:50:52

Wow, you guys are old :P

I'd play Metro Station, Linkin Park, the All American Rejects, Muse... something with a faster beat! Not that I don't love the 80's, but that music is for dancing, not for spinning... and that's all I have to say 'bout that...

From montelepsy on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 08:57:33

Well, I can't dance and I spin slow, so it's perfect :)

From walter on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 09:27:08

Lucia, your not much younger than us young guys.
