I met Danielle halfway this morning and we ran up to Daybreak together and did 10 miles up around the lake and a loop. Then I ran her home and did a 4 mile zig zag home. This site was down all morning so I blogged my miles that I can do from my phone everyday as usual without hassle on Dailymile. I figure Sasha wont answer my messages to him so maybe someone who reads this can make sure he sees how much his site will grow if he connects to FB. Im so amazed he hasnt done it yet.  Who would want to be a part of a multi billion dollar company anyway...its just crazy! Lets keep things plain.

I've never been on Facebook - I know, weird. Just too many potential problems for a school teacher in my opinion...

How would this sight be better if it connected to Facebook?

I suppose I'm just demonstrating my ignorance of the glory of Facebook, but what I like about the FRB is that it's small and fairly local and provides a way for people with a passion for one thing (running) to connect. It seems to me that there will always be a place in the world for "multi-billion dollar companies" and that's fine. But you can also make a case for keeping things small and limited. Can't you?

I can see being a public figure and being on facebook to contradict itself. If your a teacher that goes to spring break and ends up on girls gone wild as well. My point is we can keep it small and local but thats not what he decided to do. FRB is world wide and he gets money for the more people that get on here. Thats a fact. Facebook has helped my Pace group enormously! I post a race im pacing, I have it full with 20 runners wanting to pace my race within the day. I dont want to call 100 people I know to get 20 committed. So thats my example. For Daily mile, strava, and all the other running blog sites that just started up recently with the past few years, They have millions of people on their site worldwide. It works off of any smartphone, computer ipod even freakin kindles. So for my next point is you can keep it simple but your site will be outdated and people cant use it with the latest technology so they wont. I actually quit for a while because I would run and go straight to work and by the time I got home i forgot to post it on the computer. My phone i could post on a break and im done. I have seen Sasha out at races handing out flyers and cards etc. to get runners on here. I guarantee if he was on FB one month he would have more on here than the years he has worked to try to make this site. Its cake!

I know im just venting because I have a lot of friends on here. but my miles on here will never reflect what I did all year until I can put them on easier. I know this site is to try and make some income. He couldve retired by now if he had the link on and thats a guarantee. Im not computer savy, I wished I was, it would beat where Im at now. The other thing that bugs me on here is I have a question, I private message him, i ask a question. Nothing! I have asked Josh Cox a question on facebook (Ive never even met him!) about running and he gave me an an answer 30 minutes later. If he doesnt want to keep up with it then post something and ill figure it out take it over and quit construction. lol You wont have a beautiful driveway or foundation but you will be able to use your smartphone by gad! lol

I guess I get all that.

It's clear to me that Sasha has lost a certain amount of interest in the blog and in running/racing in general. Probably a by product of having a busy career and ten kids or so and being very active in a church that demands a pile of your time.

I'd say about 90% or more of the frequent posters on this blog are from about a 40 square mile radius along the Wasatch Front and from my own selfish point of view, that's great. The FRB feels like a real community to me and I don't think I would like it nearly as much if there were 2 million regular posters.

Yeah. Sorry for fuming. I have an enormous amount of support from friends on here. I would like to not have to rely on Firefox or a computer that's all. Oh and be able to see who is commenting on my post instead of a code name. Not a fan of the code names. Lol. So are you gearing up for Boston? I would love to negative split on that course or do an even split on it. We will have fun. There are a lot of Utah runners going this year.

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Feb 19, 2012 at 13:44:03 from 76.27.122.13

Yep, I'm pretty excited about Boston. I've run it twice, but never run well there.

Don't you think a negative split would be pretty hard at Boston? It's really fun though if you're feeling good the last couple miles of that race and can really soak in the atmosphere and crowd energy. There's nothing like it!

We'll have a great blog group there. Should all plan on getting together on Monday night to (hopefully) celebrate.

You can post your miles on this site with a smartphone. I wrote my entire blog post yesterday on mine. No, it isn't a slick mobile app, but it still works ok.

To Rob's point, would we really want this site to become global? If I was Sasha I would because it would just drive more traffic. But for the users I think it would be worse because you wouldn't know 90% of the people. To expand and still maintain the local feel, I think it would need to be set up like craigslist thus allowing the user to choose a specific region or city to follow.

From Walter on Sun, Feb 19, 2012 at 15:11:05 from 24.2.69.110

Mine wont let me post at all. I can post miles. It wont let you copy and paste on here either which is weird. It doesnt work well with computers that dont use firefox either. Im ok keeping things simple. I dont think he wanted to keep it simple when he started it though but now it seems like he does. Sort of have those coming on that dont have a clue who we are to lose interest. Thats my two cents. Im glad I have met new faces and I always have people on here coming up to me and saying they follow me which at first I despised but now it keeps me liable to work harder.
