Woke up this freezing cold morning and went up to Daybreak and ran 6 miles in 27 degree weather with Danielle. Very icy and slick! I think the snow plows have given up on plowing the neighborhood roads. Some main roads were even horrid! Good run, and I felt ok. I cant wait to get back my speed, whats left of it. ;)

While we were running this morning, we were on 40th west and about 108th by the new temple going south and this car veered into us and I had to grab Danielle and pull her towards the side of the road. I was embarrased at over reacting and angry at the stupid driver for being so stupid. Ive been hit by a car twice in my life and its not fun. I dont suggest it to anyone.

That is way too much excitement for a run! Good thing you grabbed Danielle and averted disaster. It's amazing how many stupid drivers are out there with no regard whatsoever for anything! Hope your run was comfortable and not too painful.

So ... how do you feel now several hours later? Any residual pain? Sounds like you are making your comeback. So happy you were able to get in a good run (but sorry about the car incident and slippery roads).

Hey, I saw that you are already signed up for Boston 09! What are your travel plans? I am 95% going myself (with several IF friends who qualified). Maybe we can hook up back in Boston for the run or at least some fun in the town. Let me know.

Happy New Year!

April, yes indeed! Theres nothing worse then the feeling of something tragic! Like a car or dog attack. It seems to follow me for some reason. I definitely got my max heart rate going there for a minute! Yes I did run without pain.

Teena, Hours later, im fine! a little pain, but took the ibuprofen 800's and it has subsided. did you see both Cheryl and Peggy took a fall this morning running over there. It was super slick huh? Hows your pain threshold?

From walter on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 16:52:20

Jeff, definitely buddy! I know Im going for sure with my wife and hopefully the kids can go but we'll see. I hung out with a few people last year and at the start line and it went by alot faster. Theres going to be an after race party at Bill Rogers Running Center and I was invited to it and asked to bring all that could come. I know Bill will be there along with the European Marathon team. But Ill get with you for sure. we can plan some stuff to do. I always stay with friends in Stoneham which is near Lowell just north of town about 6 miles. Have you decided how serious your going to be in the race. Im going to start training hard but was thinking of doing a 2:40 something and then concentrate on Ogden for a 2:30 something. Ill keep in touch!

From jtshad on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 16:57:14

Sounds like we will have some fun together. We are staying downtown with some of the other IF runners (no kids) but we can definitely hook up. I am thinking of shooting for sub 2:40 and top 20 Master's.

We are likely going from Friday - Wednesday so there should be time to find something to do together. Our hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Fanueil Hall and Bill Rogers' store.

From walter on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 17:12:50

Yeah your in the heart of Boston, its going to be fun for sure! I think Im doing the Friday to wednesday also. have you got your flight yet? and who with.

From jtshad on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 17:14:57

I am looking at booking Delta with my miles on Friday morning and returning early Wednesday afternoon. Need to do it soon to ensure I can get the flights.

From Cheryl on Wed, Dec 31, 2008 at 00:12:09

So you almost got hit by a car. Kind of a dangerous morning for running it seems like. Hopefully, that's it for this year, in 09, everyone will be fine!

From walter on Wed, Dec 31, 2008 at 00:29:17

Shadley, I have some credits with Jet Blue so it sounds like your in it for the long haul. I will find out from my doc if I can kick this pain so I can attempt some long runs and a bit of speed.

Cheryl, I think risking getting hit by a car was better for me than you guys killing me with hill workouts this morning. I wouldve been laying on my back looking up at you guys for sure! lol Definitely '09!
