Got up to daybreak to run with Danielle. We immediately got hit by a snow storm. We started running away from the snow and had to run into it for 4 of the miles. It luckily let up a bit but was in our faces! At mile 2 we were rushed by two dogs that werent on a leash and it was a big scare. I froze and they hit Danielle and it was pretty scary. The owners of the dogs were running also and they were big boxer dogs and didnt even respond to their owners. It made me mad but not as mad as Danielle. She was yelling at the owner to take responsibility and keep them on a leash. I think it woke us up for sure! I just not a dog person. I like them but could never own one. Our soggy run ended up running 7+ miles.

Heres a picture out my front window of the white stuff I only like to see in the mountains, not on my streets!

Nice to see responsible pet owners out there. Is Danielle ok?

From walter on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 10:08:57

Yeah it didnt bite her, it just bumped her and scared her bad. I just froze and they didnt bug me. My heart rate maxed out though. I went Anaerobic for a few seconds. lol (sashas)

Thanks for the plug Walter! Hows it going?

From walter on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 10:18:50

Im getting there slowly. Im actually in a bit of pain this morning. Ill keep resting. I have a feeling my doc wont give me the yeah nod when I see her next week. This has been the slowest recovery ive ever gone through. I cant wait till I can do speed workout again. I need it!

So have you seen Mary Ann? I was just wondering if youve met her. Ill play the role of getting you too together if you want. Like in school. "hey, my friend likes you" lol I love embarrassing you, you know that! I still tell my friends about that Del Sol Hotel experience. We have 5 guys, 2 queen beds and we are all just looking at the bed at the same time and we all know were thinking the same thing. Who gets to sleep next to Steve? lol

Scary! I don't like dogs, they make me nervious. Your story reminds me of an old experience I had this morning. When I walked out to my truck to leave this morning, it wasn't raining, but the ground was wet. But I could hear rain. It sounded as if it were pouring. I started looking around and noticed that it was pouring not 20 feet away from me. By time I got into my truck, it was pouring on top of it. When I got to the end of my little road, I was out of the rain again. I have never seen anything like that before.

Running animal encounters! It is always a bad feeling to see a big dog coming at you, never mind 2! I'm glad nobody got bitten! Way to slog through blowing snow. 'Tis the season for hardcore winter running!

From walter on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 11:52:23

Camille, I have been in a rain storm at a park like that! It is weird.

April, I didnt have to post hole dig myself in snow like you. just sloshy snow that hits you in the face. We have a doozy of a storm heading your way, hope you enjoy it! lol

From Kelli on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 12:51:55

Great job Walter. Maybe it is time to take a break?!? We want you well for Del Sol (still planning on it, right?)

Scott and I will be heading out tomorrow at 6 from our house. We run 6 point something miles (.3, I think, but I always have to run around the block to make it .5) If you still want to join us, feel free. There is supposed to be a major storm tomorrow, but I do not know at what time! As long as we can see to run, we will run!

From walter on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 13:06:26

Ill take you up on it. Will you get me your address I dont have it.

From Teena on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 17:47:38

Nice run Walter!!

Sorry about the dogs. That stinks! How are you feeling? Looks like you are logging more and more miles. Very cool.

From Camille on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 18:47:46

Nice picture! LOL I should send you a picture of what I see out *my* front window. Totally joking, but I can't help but rub it in a little bit.

From Jon on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 19:06:03

I'm just going to call you James.

From walter on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 21:17:25

Teena, are you logging more miles? when we gonna run?

Camille, I knew it was coming, wait a bit longer though when we have suffered with it for a bout 2 more months, then ill be extremely jealous.

Jon, my middle name is James! Yes my dad thought he'd be funny having a son named James Brown! I feel good!

From Teena on Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 00:20:38

Walter,

Slowly but surely things are coming along. Haven't gotten any super great mileage in yet ... partly because I am so nervous of overdoing it again. Have you put any thought into running in Lehi on Saturday or are you pretty set on the JRP @ 123rd? How many miles are you going again?

From walter on Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 10:11:35

Teena, I made plans with Danielle and my brother in law tomorrow. I thought about going 8+ miles. I was going to run with Kelli and Scott this morning but woke up in pain. Not good! You can run with me tomorrow but Ill be going slow im afraid. Probably a 9 minute pace and yeah itll likely be on the 123rd park trail. If not, then maybe ill do next week with ya.

From Teena on Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 10:37:23

Walter,

So sorry about the pain. We'll run another time together since my schedule is crazy tomorrow. Have a great run and get that pain level down. (I'm sure my pace will be slow as well.)
