| | Today the workout was when you go hard 1 minute and then easy for 2 minutes. I forgot what it is called I just know it sounds like fart (really it's fard something). We had to go for 30 minutes. My knees didn't hurt too bad today, but near the end they get that compressed feeling. Afterwards we did abs. Unfortunately the great Tanner Nelson was unable to make it to practice. He's probably faking some injury. Just kidding but I wish you were there Tanner. I won't be able to go to practice tomorrow or Saturday because I have Youth Conference. On Saturday for Youth Conference we are running the Dirty Dash so I'll just count that as my workout.
| |
| | Well, on Friday I didn't go running because I was at Youth Conference which was awesome. Yesterday we ran the Dirty Dash. Jared, Johnny, Casey and I were running together but then Casey and Johnny decided to go faster. The Dirty Dash is a 5k or 10k. Our group was running the 5k but because Jared and I were so far ahead Casey's dad told us just to do the 10k as well as Johnny and Casey. The guy who runs the Dirty Dash (get it? Haha) is in our ward and told us it actually is about 5.4 miles note 6.whatever. We still beat people in our youth group that ran the 5k. The Dirty Dash was way fun but it stunk so so bad. They don't even time the race so it's super unofficial. I took 5th from our ward in the 10k and I took 4th in our ward for the 5k.

| | Today was the Reaper. The Reaper is probably my favorite run but I ended up not running it because after the 2 mile warm up my knees started to hurt. AGAIN. I think that part of the problem is that I'm missing days of running. Usually my knees don't hurt as bad if I have ran some the day before. This will be a problem because on Tuesday and Thursday is when my soccer practice will be. I guess I will have to make up the runs at night if I want my knees to feel any better.
| | 4.8 miles today. I ran with Jared, Nate and Tracer. It was a crazy run. We started off wanting to run the Dry Canyon trail. We were going up 200 South but then we cut down some side roads thinking there was an easier way to get to the trail. We ended up right by the canal so we followed it and then went up another hill to get to fire road. We barely ran on fire road. We cut down from fire road to the canal and just went back to the school like that. My knees started to hurt around 4.1 miles.
| |
| | Today at noon is the start of the 24 hour relay. We run 1 mile at a time carrying a baton for 24 hours. I think that you run a mile every three hours. Everyone runs the first and last mile too. It should be a lot of fun.
| | The 24 hour relay ended today. I ran the first mile and last mile as well as 4 legs. I thought I would get at least 6 legs but we were running way behind schedule. The 24 hours were really fun. Tanner, Matt and I built a fort on top of the high jump pads. It was pretty awesome. I only timed two of my miles and they were 6:30 and 6:26. They were pretty slow. I can't remember my first shift time but the second was about 11:00 pm. The third was about 2:30 am. The last one was 6:30 am.
| | We ran 3 miles today. After the three miles we did 10 100's so that was a little over half of a mile. My knees didn't really bother me today which I was happy about. It's strange because my knees only hurt when I am running for cross country. When I play soccer they don't hurt at all.
| | We did an Indian run today. It seems like my knees start hurting at around 4 miles so after 2 miles out I turned back which was a good decision. Yesterday for Young Mens we did a lot of hiking with full packs in preperation for high adventure.
| | Did a ton of biking with Clain and Jared so I'm counting it as three miles.
| | We ran from Sundance to Stewart Falls today. We ran up the road from Sundance until we got to Aspen Grove then we did some trail running to the falls and then back down other trails that ended at Sundance. It was a good run. Average pace was pretty slow but that was going to be the case with all the hills. My knees didn't hurt until the last hill that was pretty steep but other then the last part they were great.
| | Today I hiked Timp. It was pretty fun until we had to cross long, steep sections of snow and ice. The total to the summit and back is 15 miles but I only went to the saddle. I started feeling sick and it was pretty sketchy on the way to the summit so I just waited at the saddle until the rest of the quorom came. Going down my hands froze off. It was miserable but the scenery made up for it. It was really awesome!
| | I was finally able to run the Reaper.
| | Just the afternoon speed work out. Warm up, speed drills and 10 100's. I didn't count the speed drill part in the total distance. It was SO hot on the track and turf.
| | 1/2 mile to start then buddy 200's. My buddy was Owen. We each ran 6 200's. After we stuck are feet in the water system thing at Anderson park where we were running. 1/2 mile back to the school after. There were only 15 people at afternoon practice today!
| |
| | Monday was the first day of XC camp. We ran to Scout Falls and back to our campsite. Total of four miles.
| | 35 minute timed run from Tibble Fork Resevoir up some dirt road. We iced our legs in the lake after.
| | Relay race today. There were teams of 6 and each person ran a .35 mile loop 5 times. My team won the relay. On my team was Josh, Owen, Lisa, Mia, Nicole and Preston. Lisa and Mia ran together because we had an extra person. After the relay we had a two mile cool down. XC camp was awesome. There were many adventures, many which included Tanner and trees.
| | AM: 5 miles today. Ran to Manila and back. My knees felt good today so I'll have to see how they do this afternoon for the speed workout. I was sore today from yesterdays relay race but once we got going my legs loosened up.
| | AM- I ran 6.25 miles today. During the warm up I was talking to Paulo and Jared and all the other JV guys left. There was this new JV kid there named Derek who hadn't left but other than that all of them had gone. Jared decided to follow varsity and since we didn't know where JV went Derek and I followed. We ran up the Reaper and headed to Dry Canyon then just turned around at about 3.1 miles. On the way back Jared completely dropped off so me and Derek just left him. My knees felt good during the run.
PM- We just did speed drills. Mile warm up and mile cool down. I don't count the drills in the distance but I do count the 12 100's so 2.75 miles.
| | 4.5 mile today. I ran with Jared, Derek and Sam. Jared had to go to the bathroom super bad so the first bathroom we got to he used but he was taking forever so finally he said we could just leave him. On the way back we didn't want to take the canal so we took some roads above it. Sam ended up taking two steps in fresh cement so then we had to book it so we didn't get caught but we found out we had ran into a dead end right above the canal so we had to cut down through this super tall and scratchy grass. Finally we got back to the school and about 20 minutes later Jared showed up. It was an exciting run.
| |
| | Ran at coaches today. I ran with Derek and Jared again. We are all pretty even so that works out well. I turned around early though because I was getting this weird knot thing in my back. After the run we ate breakfast and swam.
| | I have a dentist appointment so I didn't run with the team. I ran 2.25 miles with my dog at a half mile loop around my Stake Center. After 1.5 miles my dog started slowing me down so I put his leash around a pole and kept going. After leaving my dog my pace increased.
| | Used my Flyknits and didn't have any knee pain.
| | Ultimate Frisbee for the afternoon workout. 1 mile ish.
| | Mile repeats. Tanner beat me in a very laid back sit up contest. I made sure and told everyone about his killer abs.
| |
| | AM- Ran to the G with Tanner, Johnny and Derek. It was brutal, especially because I just got back from California so the elevation was way higher.
PM- Buddy 400's (6) with a mile warmup. I was partners with Derek.
| | 800's. During the second one I stepped on a rock and hurt my ankle.
| | Lindon Park run because Soldier Hollow is tomorrow. After the three miles we did stride laps and abs. I found out I can't run Soldier Hollow because I have a game near the same time.
| |
| | Utah County Invite. The race was 3 miles. I ran it in 19:44 so I tied my PR. Good first meet of the season. I'm hoping to get under 19:35 on Wednesday at pre-region.
| | Pre-region. Not a very good race at all for me.
| | Race at Timpview. There were only 4 schools there, Timpview, Murray, Snow Canyon and us. I ran it in 20:26.
| | Intervals. They were pretty brutal.
| | Adventerous run with Matt, Preston and Ben. It was raining SO hard my shoes were still wet the next day.
| | Mile repeats. Probably one of my least favorite workouts. I was trying to stay with Leremy, which I did the first one, the second mile I wasn't as close and the third was pretty bad.
| | AM- 3 easy miles with varsity. The weather for the morning runs is fantastic.
PM-Ran to the G with Laremy and Ali. It was one tough run.
| | BYU invite tomorrow. It's going to be packed for my race. Coach said that there will be 350 guys in it.
| |
| | BYU Autumn Classic. It was a pretty fun race. I liked it a lot more than last time. I don't know my time for the 3 mile though but the entire thing took 20:29.
| | Feeling sick. Pretty sure it had to do with what I ate.
| | Nebo Invite at Salem Hills. Ran it in 20:35. Intense dance party after my race.
| | AM-3.3 miles. We saw 4 deer on the run but in the dark we all thought that they were fake. When they moved it was pretty startling.
PM-3 miles. Easy run to Lindon Park because tomorrow is region.
| | Ran the Reaper. I got my faster time-10:46.
