Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

4 on the trails.

On my way to the trails, bikini lady decided to talk to me. She has lived down the street from me for the last 12 years. We've never spoken. I know I've written about her here before. She does all of her yard work in a bikini, which is really unsafe. Like an OSHA inspector's nightmare. And she was a lot to explain to my sons when they were little. Anyhow, we spoke for about 10 minutes. Her life, from beginning to now, has been a non stop tragedy. One trauma after another. I am disturbed by the things I heard. I wish I could go back to my preconversation ignorance about her. Or be more sympathetic, like my mother. Or not notice that I ran faster because of all the things she said rattling around in my head. 

Next time she wants to put an eight foot ladder in the bed of a pickup truck, climb to the top of it in a bikini and flip flops, and prune her extremely thorny Canary Island Date Palm, well, she can have at it.

5.5 miles hood route in the rain, thunder, and lightning. I started out on the trails, but they were flooded, so I took it to the streets. It was nice to run at temps less than 80 for a change. (78)

1 on the trails. I had to go through too many puddles. So then 5.5 miles hood route. Much hotter, and much slower than yesterday.

5 on the trails. 90 deg., 68% hum., 78 d.p. Wow that's warm. But I had to get 5 in. This is now my biggest week of mileage this year. I'm sad and happy about this at the same time.
