ran after the school meet and greets - 5 miles in a little rain.  it felt good to run in the rain again - very nice.  Foot a little sore but no sharp pain.  We'll see how it goes.  I think it is just part of the process.

from what i have been experiencing (and gathered from others), the "sore" type pain is definitely part of the process. i haven't felt any sharp pains since i started running again, but there has certainly been plenty of nagging, dull pain in my leg that is mostly constant while i am running. i'm not sure what is causing it, but i'm pretty certain at this point that it is not something i should be too worried about.

glad to see you are bringing the miles back and feeling good.

Thanks, that is reassuring to read, Allie. I'll just keep it at a slow buildup for now and try to get my legs back. It is amazing how the bike riding didn't keep my legs running ready. It seems my quads just don't know what's going on now.

thanks Rhett - I'm trying to be smart about it and not try to come back too fast.

i'm going through the same thing with my quads -- i was certain biking was going to make me stronger. maybe it did, but if so it developed different muscles. my legs have been pretty tired since i started putting miles back on them -- it's like running is foreign to my legs. i am more sore from the half on saturday than i usually am after running a full marathon. i think it's just going to take some time. you are being very smart and patient with your approach and it will pay off.

Allie - glad I'm not imagining it. I can't even imagine racing a half at this point.

There is a 5K next Saturday but I won't race it. It'll just be to see some track club people and get some juice from the racing community.

Rain??? Send some this way, please! Everything is so brown here...today is our 33rd consecutive day with high temp above 100. We could definitely use some rain..even if it turns Texas into a steambath.Nice miles!
