Today went a little better than yesterday, but my quads still are sore, which is just wrong.  That's what I get when I get after taking a week+ off.  At least my heart and lungs were a little more happy today.

I will do my 5 mile race on Saturday but will be lucky to hold any decent pace.  This is disappointing cause this is a favorite race in the fall.  I'll just have to take it as a good measure of my fitness.

This year has had its ups and downs.  I can't seem to hold any momentum in my training.  Need to sit back and take a look at why, I suppose.  Most likely I'll just keep plugging away and try to train smarter.  I can't run like I'm 38 anymore.  Probably need to maintain a focus on quality vs quantity.

It stinks sometimes to see how quickly we loose our fitness if we take a little R&R, huh! No worries, your fitness and base are there.

So sorry this hasn't been a good year with your training. I read some threads on Letsrun about master runners plateauing and how they cut back on mileage but put in rest days or cross training that their legs are happier and able to improve on their 10k times!

You are a great runner and wicked fast in my book. Good luck on Sat. ! :)

Yeah Smooth, I am surprised how much my legs are feeling it so far this week. It is weird.

And I sure need to work in some more bike work in the next year. Once I get a new job and get a little money security I am going to get a new entry level road bike so I can add that. I think that really helped my fitness while out last summer.
