Ran the Guts Fat A$$ 50K yesterday.  It was nice to start another GUTS race.  It has been a couple of years since I've been to one.  Ran the first three laps with JG.  It was very nice to have someone to run with.

Unfortunately I was a half a$$ and didn't go out for the last two laps.  I wasn't mentally or physically prepared for 34 miles.  Plus, I didn't want to trash my training for the next week or more just to finish this race.   I am hobbling around on my foot enough after doing the 20 miles. I'd hate to see myself if I'd finished.  This is my first DNF which sucks but it is what it is.

I really wish I was able to run today.  Maybe tomorrow.

Probably a good idea to DNF. Don't want to ruin all your training for a race you aren't prepared for. Save it for another day!

I really enjoyed running with you Tim, you made the right choice ... and had a solid 20+ mile mile training run on some tough terrain ... great job!

Thanks Andrea!

Thanks for coming out and running with me JG. I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the course quite a bit.

Sounds like you made an intelligent choice. GOOD JOB on the 20+ miles!

Bummer that you had to DNF. I know how you feel, but I think you made a wise choice not finishing.

How is the foot feeling today?

Thanks Smooth! --it was fun while I was out there.

Yeah Dale, it kind of stinks not to finish, but I'm ok with it. Swelling is going down and it barely hurt when I woke up today. As it loosened up, it feels almost all better. I might try a short run this evening.

Wow, I'm totally impressed that you even started the race and then you went on and grabbed a great 20 miler out of it. Too bad you had to chalk up a "DNF". If you hang around long enough a DNF seems to just happen! I haven't registered my first DNF....yet! But I have a DNS (Did Not Show, this was the year of my knee surgery) from the 2008 St George Marathon. Keep up the great training.....

Thanks Slick - yeah it was bound to happen one of these years. I will start back at the training today or tomorrow. Speed work will start next week if not this week.
