| It's been a while, running and blog wise. I haven't updated my blog in a long time, and I haven't been running consistently either. I've dealt with some injuries off and on as well as a lack of motivation, but I'm planning on picking it up again. Today I did a little over five miles. My average pace was 6:36. My mile splits were 6:36, 6:45, 6:54, 6:45, 6:12. It felt surprisingly good, except for the third mile. I was struggling a little bit, but I was able to work through it and finish feeling good. I felt fine, no nagging injuries or anything. My plan for now is to slowly increase the mileage, and start running consistently again. I plan on doing some 5ks in the next couple months, maybe do another half-marathon this summer sometime. |

| Just an easy four mile run today. I planned on it being easy, but the first half uphill and into the wind was a harder effort for the pace I was going. My average pace was 6:56, with splits of 7:12 (uphill and into the wind), 7:18, 7:12, and 5:59. The last mile felt nice and relaxed, and it was downhill with the wind at my back. I felt pretty relaxed and good, not sore from yesterday. |

| Pretty easy 4 miles today. My average pace was 6:40. I was feeling good my second mile, so I decided to push it a little, finishing with a 75 last 400. My time for that mile was 5:50. The other miles were all right around 7:00. I still feel good, no injuries and not too sore. |

| Another good shorter run today. I felt really good again and relaxed. I kept the first three miles at a pretty consistent pace, 6:52, 6:27, 6:37. | Rex E. Lee Run today. I started out conservative, maybe a little too conservative, in eighth or ninth. 6:00 first mile uphill. Second mile passed a couple guys, 5:12. Third mile made it into third place with fourth and fifth right behind me. 6:00 Died the last 600 meters or so and ended up fifth. Not bad for being out of shape, but could have been better. Good race to see where I'm at. |

| Just an easy run today. I'm still a little bit sore from my race Saturday, but not bad. It was a little chilly this afternoon, but still warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt. I had splits of 7:30, 7:09, 6:48, and 6:40. The last .15 was 5:30 pace. The total pace for the run was 6:58. It felt good. |

| I've been very inconsistent with the running, but hopefully today is the start of a routine again. Today I ran a new route, trying to mix things up. Most of Provo is pretty flat, so I tried to go up into the foothills a bit, east of Kiwanis Park. I found some monster hills that kept going up and up. It was a good workout. My splits were 7:40, 7:43, 7:08, 6:32, and 7:30 pace for the last .7. On my way back home I stopped at Kiwanis Park and did five sprints barefoot, about 100 meters. It felt good. My legs felt a bit rusty, but they warmed up and everything was feeling good. |

| I went on a trail run with my friend today. We hadn't been running together since high school, and this was the first time running together since our missions. We went on a trail by rock canyon. It was super hilly and slow, but it was fun and we didn't push it too hard. Our pace was about 8:45. It was hot, but not too hot. |

| I went on a run today with my friend Ben again, and another friend, Jack. Ben went to high school with me and Jack ran at a different high school at the same time. We went up near rock canyon again trying out another trail but it was shorter than we thought. So we turned around and went up the canyon for a bit. It was a slower pace, like 8:30. |

| Another run with Ben this afternoon. Both of us started out feeling a little sluggish, but it ended up being a pretty good run. We started out with a 7:43, 7:24, 7:04, 6:24, and then 5:30 pace for the last .4 miles. It felt comfortable and good by the end. I was having knee pain saturday so I took the day off, but it feels fine after today. |

| Today was an eventful run. We started out on a trail, but I ended up tripping on a rock and flying through the air, landing my knee into a rock and rolling across my forearm. The pain was bad enough in my knee that I didn't even notice the scrapes all over my arm. I shook it off after a minute of pain and got up. Ben and I went back to my apartment and I washed up and we went on a run to the track and back. My knee was hurting, but it loosened up as we ran. Out splits were 8:25, 7:16, 7:43, and 6:00 for the last .6 miles. I was slow at first, but once I got warmed up my knee felt fine. A little weak, but not bad. Tonight my knee is pretty sore, but I hope it won't stop me from running. I think I'll just have a good bruise, I don't see any swelling. Here's my arm after the fall. I don't remember the last time I ate it this bad. |

| I'm in Tahoe for the week with my family. I've been sporadic with my training for the last year and I want to get back into shape and up the mileage. | I went for a nice run in Tahoe. I started out along the road for a mile, then turned onto a really steep hill called ski run blvd. It started out uphill and kept getting steeper and steeper until the end. It was quite the workout to get to the top. It was a mile in length. After that I got onto a trail and turned around after three miles. I went back the same way. My splits were all over the place with the hills, with a 5:59 for the last mile. Total pace was 7:29. |
